"A Man on the Inside" and Working in Senior Living

For the last two years I've been working as the Culinary Services Director at an Assisted Living community. I enjoy my work, love my team and have great fondness for our residents. While my years in the restaurant business helped me prepare for this, as well as my time working in a hospital kitchen and running a coffee shop/cafe, it's a very different animal. My community treats our mealtimes like a restaurant, but it's not exactly like that...It's not a hospital assembly line, but you're intensely aware of dietary needs and restrictions. It's not glamorous and not going to land you on The Food Network, but I'm proud of it. I feel good about myself at the end of the day.

A month ago, I binge watched a new series on Netflix called "A Man on the Inside" and fell in love with it. I thought about writing a review of it and then just let that thought fall away. It's funny, entertaining, a hint of mystery, heartwarming, sad and hopeful...and for people in the senior living industry, there are bits and jokes and scenes that are wonderful because we get it. One that had me right away was the Chef telling the Administrator he needed more salt and pepper shakers. She asked him how many he was missing, and he says "40." I have lived this. People with dementia love to boost things.

The dementia aspect of the show hit me too. I see it every day and before that we dealt with it with my in-laws both going through their progression of dementia. While seeing in a show, had me relive uncomfortable things, it was also nice to see a show that was speaking for the people dealing with the disease as well as the impact it has on their families.

But what drove me to write this tonight was a death we had in our community this week. It was a resident everyone loved. Some of our staff knew him for a long time. He was great guy. It was unexpected, sudden, shocking. It felt like a kick in the chest to the whole community. In Senior living you know the end will happen. You accept this part of the job. But with most of our losses, we see it approaching and are prepared for it. This one there was no warning, and it hurt....

This takes me back to "A Man on the Inside." This very moment is shown in the series. And the pain, and shock, and sadness, and the need to push on, while choking back the frustration & sadness is portrayed perfectly by Stephanie Beatriz, who plays Didi, the Community Administrator. Her character greatly represents those of us that work in senior living. The show isn't about us, so the Chef, Nurses, Aides and Housekeepers are just small characters here and there. Didi is there to give a glimpse of what we all feel and go through. Stephanie Beatriz does it perfectly.

I highly recommend the show and can't wait for what comes in season two. Oh, Ted Danson is great in it as well. The guy still does comedy so well.

Check it out.

Monday Moaning

I posted this picture to start this blog, about 45 minutes ago...I've been surfing around the net looking for something to inspire me...But nothing got me going...So, I'm just going to tap these keys and see what happens...

I can't write about sports...I haven't watched any this week...Oh wait...I saw about 5 minutes of the  BU vs. BC Hockey game Friday night...But that was it...

Friday evening Molly spent at my parents...A little sleep over with grandma and grandpa...So, the oldest got to take a test drive at watching little Beeze...She's always been a Mother Hen, so we weren't worried...So what did we do?

We went and looked at a house we can't afford...The wife wants a bigger house...I wouldn't mind either but there is the whole issue of trying to sell our house as well...We would also like to be a better school district...Our oldest is having nothing to do with us moving...Luckily, she doesn't need to worry...It's not happening right now...Just not there financially...Plus, this house was overpriced...When the relator describes the kitchen by saying, "It's kind of queer!"  Well, that's not gonna help sell it...We walked in the front door, and almost smashed into the kitchen island...They redid the kitchen, expanding it, and screwing up the flow...Plus, they slacked off on a lot of finishing work...The living room was huge...The master bedroom was huge...It had 4 bedrooms total...All good size...2 baths...Both on the second floor...No yard...and needed a new hot water tank, furnace, washer, and dryer, and some plumbing work...

Good luck getting that asking price dipshits!

Then we went out to dinner...A place called Ferris Steakhouse...The food was good...She had a Filet, and I had Prime Rib...We started with Bruschetta...I had a Caprese salad...I forget what salad she had...She finished with Crème Brulee, and I had a Triple Chocolate cake...The Moscow Mules were good...And well, the key for all my restaurant reviews, that gets them a positive grade...I got road head on the way home! Good Job Ferris Steakhouse!

And Saturday morning we had some classic morning sex...It's so nice not having a 3 year old (almost 4) waking you up at the crack of dawn on a Saturday! Thanks grandma and grandpa!

The rest of Saturday was work...I finally saw Molly at 5:44 AM Sunday, when she puked in our bed...Why, we have no idea...But then she felt great, and was quite the chatty little shit for the next hour, filling me in on her adventures...Then come 11:00AM it was back to work for a long Sunday pounding...

And now, "here I sit broken hearted, I came to shit and only farted!"

I've got some music going on my iPhone...It's on shuffle..."Captain Jack" by Billy Joel is on right now...

It made me think about a girl I dated oh so many years ago...She put this song on a mix tape...Yeah, I'm that old, fucking mix tapes!  She had this thing where she'd tell me to imagine I was on an island when I was having issues...Either stressed, or angry, or whatever...But you know what "Captain Jack" is? what the song is about...Shooting heroin...Holy shit, I think that bitch wanted me to kill myself!

No, she wasn't...She wasn't hip enough to understand drug lingo!

How's this blog working out for ya...Just a wacky guy babbling while listening to music...What's song will be next?

?
?

It's a pretty cool tune...Especially since in it's original form it was done in a techno, club style...I'll stick to this jazzy, mellow version...

I'm sorry for this rambling through writer's block post...It feels like I'm writing in a High School journal...Hopefully I'll get my shit together...

Monday Moaning

Does anyone else have their eyes stuck on those socks? I didn't think so!
I figured I'd start with a fun pic, since I have a feeling I will spend most of this post writing about what assholes people are...

First there is the big NEWS that broke Sunday Morning...

Yep, Penn State finally did something right...They took down the statue of Joe Paterno...But they didn't stop there...They took every bit of that bullshit they had up on those limestone walls..."The Coach, The Educator, The Humanitarian" all the words praising Paterno are gone as well...And they should be...Anyone who covers up child molestation, cannot be called a "Humanitarian"...Shouldn't be called an "Educator" because he wasn't teaching the right things...As for "Coach," who the fuck cares...He was a liar, and a fraud, who enabled the evilest form of creep to prey on young boys, for years...I can only hope that Paterno is in the worst hell anyone can imagine...He deserves it...

Yet, there are people who think that removing the statue was wrong...One bitch called it a "Knee-jerk reaction." Really? It's been talked about for a couple weeks...And by Penn State standards, it's the fastest reaction they have had to anything having to do with Jerry Sandusky raping kids, and Paterno, Spanier, Schultz, and Curley covering it up...

The worst has to be Franco Harris...I have only seen one other person with his level of blind loyalty, and that person is just a stupid, gash, blogger! I'm not making this up...Franco Harris actually said these words...“After I read the Freeh Report, I feel even more strongly about Joe and about his non-involvement in any type of cover-up. There was no cover up. No way would Joe ever cover-up anything like this. No way would Joe protect Sandusky or protect the football program.”

Okay, clearly Harris needs to have his fucking head examined...I'm guessing he must be suffering from a number of concussions from his playing days...He can't really be this fucking stupid!

Harris feels Paterno is the victim here, and it's all the fault of the Board of Trustees...“The Board of Trustees has made every bad decision along the way. These decisions, I’d probably say just about every one, have done things to hurt Penn State.”

I would say, the biggest mistake the board ever made, was not firing Paterno YEARS ago! Not just for the Sandusky shit...Hey, "JoePa" covered that up...They should have fired him for being an old, average coach, whom the game had passed by...The fact that they were too afraid to do that, just let things get worse with all the lies he was willing to take to his grave...Franco Harris is an asshole...He's not alone...There are tons of people out there, just like him...I've heard plenty on the radio, and the news...There's a real problem with the increasing number of stupid people we have in this country!

Next we have to see how hard the NCAA comes down on PSU...For anyone who thinks they shouldn't....You too are an asshole! For the first time the NCAA could take a real stand, and let all Universities know, no matter how big a program, that they won't stand for this kind of bullshit...Yes, the NCAA could take a stand for something other than sports and money...A social stand...That would be amazing...

-Next on my chopping block...The Babseball Hall Of Fame...You may remember THIS post I did in December of 2010...If not, read it...Go ahead, I'll wait...

Sunday, the Baseball Hall of Fame inducted Ron Santo...Too little, WAY TOO FUCKING LATE! The greatest honor the game has, and these fuck-stains waited until Santo was dead...I wish the Santo family would have let me give the acceptance speech...I would have burned the whole fucking place to the ground, metaphorically speaking...As I pointed out in that post I told you to read, Santo's number are right there with the greats at his position, who had no problem getting in...Those ass-hats that vote, make me want to puke in the soup...

-As for other news...Well Friday there was that fucking asshole in Colorado, who opened fire in a packed movie theater, during a midnight showing of "The Dark Knight Rises"...What a piece of shit this fuck-tard is...Luckily, Mrs. Beeze and I aren't deterred by things like that, and we headed out to see it Friday evening...Here's MY_REVIEW of it...

That's it for now...But I'm sure that I may have something else to say by Monday evening...

Have a week...

The Beeze Reviews Melt

Okay, for a few years now, I've been of the mindset of, "Fuck Melt!" Over=priced, over-hyped grilled cheese, served by a bunch of douchebags that thing they are too good to be waiting on you...

Well, after tonight, my mind has not been changed at all...Fuck these fucking cock sucking douchebags!

After going to a movie this evening, the Mrs. and I were feeling hungry...We checked with the sitter, the kids were doing well...Baby was asleep, no problems...We saw the Melt in Independence, Ohio and said 'what the hell...Lets give it another try...Past experiences had us waiting an hour for a table (first come first serve)...And then be waited on by a dolt with too may piercing and too many tattoos, who had an attitude that doing her job, waiting on us, was some how beneath her...Of course she thought highly of herself, already be well trained as a human pin-cushion...

Then there was the food...I would describe it as "DRUNK FOOD"...Shit I was making at 3:00 AM when I was drunk, 15 years ago...Yet the mastermind behind Melt, egomaniac, Matt Fish thinks he's greatest culinary mind on Earth...Hey, I love grilled cheese like a mother fucker, but slapping a pirogi in the middle of one is no great shakes...A fucking retard could come up with that!

But back to tonight...We walk in, and ask the hostess about how long...She says 20 minutes, and I peeked at the clipboard...There were only 2 parties ahead of us...We put in our name and had a seat...After that a couple more parties came in...About 30 minutes into our wait, the tables ahead of us had been sat, so we were looking forward to getting to a table soon...Then a party of 4 came in...They went right up to the hostess stand, and it was clear they were friends with the people that worked there...2 minutes later, they were sat...

We looked at the people around us, and it was clear everyone was pissed about this...My wife got up, and started scanning the floor for any other open tables...There were none...Then she approached the hostess...She asked "did those people have a reservation?"...The twat responded by saying, "We don't take reservations, it's first come first serve." The Mrs. said, "Well they just got here, and we've been waiting for awhile now." So the twat says, "Oh, they put their name in like a hour ago, and then came back."

This is where I step in..."No they didn't...If they did, why did you tell us, it was only a 20 minute wait." Twat said, "Yes sir, they did." ..."Ummm, no they didn't, I saw the sheet, and there were only two names ahead of ours, and they were sat." Twat now change to cunt..."Are you calling me a liar?" ...."Yes, you're a lying cunt...Fuck your shitty grilled cheese!"

And we left...I stopped there, because the next thing to come out of my mouth was, 'I hope the next time you get your stupid lip, or nose, or whatever pieced....I hope a dirty needle is involved, and you get the AIDS...Not Magic Johnson AIDS that can be fixed with Millions of dollars and Swedish doctors, but the nasty, bad AIDS, you stupid dirty cunt!'

Yeah, When I get pissed, my mind goes to bad places...Really bad...So we left...Fuck her! Fuck her friends...Fuck her family...Fuck Matt Fish...Fuck Melt...Stupid fucking grilled cheese....Suck a dick!

The Beeze Reviews Johnny's Bar

That folks, is what I had for dinner Saturday Night! That is the Long Bone Veal Chop, Pounded, Breaded & Baked...Topped with Tomato Coulis, Arugula and Balsamic Vinaigrette...And it was amazing...

The wife had decided to take me out for a nice dinner for my birthday...Read my PREVIOUS_POST for the Birthday recap...She told me to pick, so I decided on JOHNNY'S_BAR...It's kinda stupid to call the place a bar...Bars don't usually put out this type of food...I've always just called it Johnny's on Fulton...One of the few gems you'll find on Fulton road in Cleveland...

To start, I went simple, getting the Mozzarella Marinara...Don't be fulled...This isn't some bullshit Mozz sticks like TGI Fridays...this is quality Mozzarella, with Cleveland's best Marinara sauce...The Mrs. is real picky when it comes to red sauce...Johnny's is so good, we bought to jars to go!

She started with the Bacon wrapped scallops...How can you go wrong there...Well, she actually was a little disappointed...The scallops were small, and each was totally encased in bacon...She felt the bacon over-powered the flavor of the scallops...

Then we had house salads...Fine...Salads, nothing special...I was drinking Great Lakes Brewing Company's Oktoberfest...(yes, that's how they spell it)...She was drinking a Riesling...I don't know shit about wine, except to keep pouring it down her throat!

Then she had one of the specials...A 14ounce strip steak, thinly sliced, served medium-rare, topped with sweet onions, and mushrooms, in a demi glace...With aged cheddar and pancetta mashers...The steak was so moist, and tender...It melted in your moth...She thought they could ease up on the sauce, but she loved it...

As I said, I had the Long Bone Veal...Talk a about flavorful...Sorry folks, but baby cow tastes great...And it was so tender, I was cutting it with my fork...The tomatoes, arugula, and balsamic worked so well with the veal and the breading...It's a can't miss dish, only made better being served over top of Johnny's house specialty, au gratin potatoes...

For desert, The Mrs. has the Raspberry Cheesecake...Holy huge slice! I had the Bananas Foster...Rum, Bananas, and Ice Cream...Hard to screw up, and they didn't...We finished the evening there with coffee...Nice, bold, brew...

Now, this all sounds great, and it was...But it was an expensive evening...Drinks, all four course, coffee, two jars of sauce, and tip got us for over two hundred bucks...Considering how little we go out, and how good it was...I'm okay with the price...

Then we headed home...My goal, get the kids to bed...Watch Notre Dame beat the hell out of Purdue, and squeeze in some halftime sex! Birthday weekend rules!

I Want My Two Hours Back!

SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!! If you want to see this movie...If you want to waste your hard earned money on it...If you want to waste your time seeing this movie...DON'T READ ANYMORE OF THIS POST!

Tonight, after one of my two fantasy football drafts this weekend, our sitter came over and we got the hell out of here! We had dinner at Texas Road House...It may be a chain, but damn, it's great every time. After that we stopped at TJ MAXX, grabbed a couple things for the baby...Found a cool birthday gift for the Little Beeze...(gotta find a good hiding place for that) And we got both the kids new Fall coats...

Then we went over to the movie theater to see "The American"...2 tickets for the George Clooney Sleep Aid please! Okay, I didn't say that...How could I? From all the hype and previews, this movie was suppose to be full of suspense, action, and intrigue...Well, not so much gang! The opening credits should have tipped us off...Watching paint dry brings more to the table then the opening...5 minutes in, I felt like I had invested 20 minutes...There was no suspense or intrigue...Seriously, the story was easy to figure out...You knew exactly where it was going...And by the way, the story sucked!

As for action...Not so much...the most action was during a sex scene Clooney has with a prostitute, and even that got drawn out and boring...Bitch could have at least gone ass to mouth!

One hour in, I w felt like we were 2 hours into it...I wanted to leave, but fuck it...I was riding this out, just so I could come home and bash the shit out of it on this blog...The story had so much dead space, they constantly filled it with these dull, slow, overhead scenes of Clooney's stupid car driving from one place to the next...First to this town were he was staying...Then to the pay phone in that town...Then to his place...Then to the whore house...Then to his place...then to the pay phone...Then to woods...Then to his place...Then to the whore house...All this driving is not helping the environment George!

The only good thing that can come from this movie is sleep...Seriously, this one will knock you right out...The only positive thing that happened in the movie...(Remember, SPOILER ALERT) Clooney dies at the end! Too bad nobody shot the writer and director!

The Beeze's Reviews "Cop Out"

I hate critics...That's why I started reviewing restaurants awhile back...Food critics suck...Most have no practical experience in the restaurant business...Movie critics often suck just as much...Some ass-hat gives another ass-hat a job watching movies, and writing their opinion on it...Well in this day and age, who needs these people? With big mouths like me and so many others, the Internet is full of opinions...And that's all they are...

I've noticed "Cop Out" getting drilled in the media...Even on ROTTEN TOMATOES http://www.rottentomatoes.com/ has dogged it...That's the only movie reviewing outlet I even look at anymore...

One of the big complaints about "Cop Out" is that, "Dude this buddy cop movie has already been done before." NO SHIT! What movie hasn't been done before? They all have! Hell half the previews before the movie were for remakes of movies I saw as a kid...And F**k you, the original "Clash of the Titans" was awesome...Now it's gonna be all f**ked up with all kinds of CGI!

By the way, the remake of "Death at a Funeral" looks hilarious!

So, let's get to "Cop Out." The wife and I went Saturday night...It was already moved to one of the smaller theaters...And it was full...

First if you are one of the haters...You're wrong...Yes this is an opinion based piece, but as you may already know, I feel my opinion is always right...I'm so sick of people looking too deeply into movies and trying to take things too seriously...I'm going to be entertained...If I want reality I'll stay at home with my kids and wait for my son to destroy something...Like my spirit...The movie was originally titled "A Couple of Dicks" but the studio wasn't gonna go with that...So they change it to "Cop Out." Get it?

If you're a Kevin Smith fan and you're looking for his signature monologues...Go watch "Clerks" again...He didn't write this movie...Just directed it...And God bless him for paying homage (a word that is brought up early in the movie) to classic cop movies...The soundtrack sounded straight out of "Beverly Hills Cop." That was an instant laugh for me...

Now, Bruce Willis as a cop...You can't go wrong with that...He's the greatest American action hero ever! And he knows how do comedy...And let the real comedians do there thing...And Tracy Morgan was doing his thing...How any director can handle that guy is unreal...And Sean William Scott was great...You love him, but you want to punch him in the face!

The story was good...Not great, but good...The action was good...Not over the top...Good...And most importantly the comedy was excellent...The wife and I both laughed throughout the movie...And what else do you want from a comedy? LAUGHS! We had them...And by the sound of the rest of the theater, everyone else was getting the laughs...

So here's the deal...If you want to get some laughs and see some tributes to classic '80's cop movies, you'll like "Cop Out."

Some other advice...They're just movies...Stop taking them so seriously, and let yourself be entertained...

The Beeze Reviews The Bistro on Lincoln Park...Again

Yes, Mrs. Beeze, myself, and our friends May and Bryan stopped by the bistro last Friday for dinner...This was the second time for the Mrs. and I...The first time was great, and I hoped for the same this trip...Especially the end of the night...

Well, I'm gonna go a little Tarantino on ya, and skip to the end...Sadly, there was no road head...Bryan was driving the four of us...The girls who had split two bottles of wine were in the back...May, was ready for a nap...And well, I wasn't going down on Bryan...

Then we got home, paid the baby sitter, and rounded up Bryan and May's little girl...Then found out, our daughter was still awake...Sex was off the table now...If you missed it at the Beezewax a couple weeks ago, we woke up our daughter with one of our sessions...And by woke up, I mean scared the sh!t out of her...So the wife put me on lock-down...

So let's move onto the food...I started with the Autumn Bisque..."Puree of Butternut Squash, Sauteed Wild Mushrooms & Creme Fraiche" It was awesome! The Mrs. started with the Crab Cake...Without a doubt the best crab cake I have ever had...A friend compared ours at the Fish House to it, simply by saying The bistro's made ours look like dog food...He was right...This was the meatiest crab cake ever...Not a bunch of filler...Great!
May and Bryan ordered the Froie Gras...May had asked our server what it was like...She replied with, "It's deliciousness in your mouth." When may took her first bite, she said, "This is the best thing that's ever been in my mouth!" Sorry Bryan...She passed it around and it was amazing!

The next course Bryan and I both had the Bistro Salad..."Butter Lettuce, Indian Black Onion Seed Vinaigrette, Sunflower Seeds, 24 Hour Tomatoes, Watermelon Radish, Candy Onions." I loved it...I love butter lettuce, and the Vinaigrette was great...Very light and refreshing...May had Mushroom Bisque, which she passed around to all of us...Best Mshroom soup, I've had...And I make a pretty damn good one myself...

At this point I should tell you about May's order...It wa sthe evening before Halloween...They had a special "Treat" menu...3 Courses for $35...They also had a "Trick" menu...This was left up to Chef Pete Joyce...You got what he gave you...
Entree time...The wife and I both got a 16 ounce, French-cut, bone-in, ribeye (or cowboy steak)...served with house made Frites, that was on special...The steak was cooked perfectly...The frites are awesome...If you're at the Bistro and they don't have this on special, check out the Steak and Frites...It's a Hanger Steak with the frites, and it' so tender and delicious...Like a....Never mind...

Bryan got the Great Lakes Walleye..."Pan Roasted, Fingerling Potatoes, Smoked Bacon-Apple Hash & Sherry Beurre Blanc." He polished this off quickly, and was left wanting more...He felt the portion could have been bigger, but enjoyed it very much...
That brings us back to May...Her entree was Turkey, Brussel Sprouts and I forget the rest...It was at this point m wife felt bad...You see, May doesn't like turkey...But this turkey was different...It seemed like it was done the way you would do a nice piece of veal, for a Piccata or Marsala...It was topped with an apple cream sauce...And honestly, you could put the sauce on anything...It was great...She did it some, and enjoyed the flavors...
For dessert I had the Bistro Chocolate Cake..."handcrafted chocolate cake, whipped buttercream, fresh berries & warm chocolate ganache." WOW! A really good meal ends when most people are full...Not me...For me it ends when I hate myself...This dessert took me to that point...

The wife had the Pumpkin Cheesecake...Loved it...Bryan had the home made vanilla ice cream...And May had the Country Pear Tart..."Bosc pears, almond frangipane & honey almond ice cream."

The food was great again...The Atmosphere was great...Warm and inviting...The staff went out of their way to make sure we were happy...

In Cleveland, We're always hearing and reading about Michael Symon...Not to be a d!ck, but he ain't the only game in town...If you're looking to spend an evening out, enjoying good food, drinks, and company...Stop by the Bistro on Lincoln Park... http://www.bistroonlincolnpark.com/

Monday Moaning

So here we are again...Every Monday I post my "Moaning." Sometimes there isn't much, sometimes there's a lot...But there is always Sports involved...I've been sitting here for an hour, wondering what am I gonna write about...Hell the thought crossed my mind a few times today...What's going on in sports? Football training camps haven't started yet...Hockey season just ended...Yeah, there's been some free agent signings...But that's all boring sh!t...You can find that plenty of places...So I'm shootin' from the hip tonight...

What about Baseball? I'll be honest...I've kinda stopped paying attention...The "All-Star" break is here, and I'm just happy that the Indians season is half way over...I blame them...They have broken my spirit...I would watch 90% of their games, or at least listen to them on the radio...This year, that's just not happening...Until Mr. Paul Dolan steps up and takes control of his team, and fires his GM and Manager...I'm done...Seriously! How can you call yourself a business man, and watch your product being run into the ground...(I guess I found something to moan about)

I also think all the steroid blah blah blah beat me down...I'm just sick of all the baggage that seems to come along with Major League Baseball these days...Including the slack ass players who don't take infield and outfield practice anymore...I always loved the skill and beauty that came with playing great defense...Now there's a bunch of hacks out there...And while I'm bashing millionaires...Base running has become a joke too...There are only a handful of players who are great base runners...It may be along time before we see another true "5 tool player."

Time for a little self promotion...If you want to read me trashing a place called The Melting Pot...Click here the following link... http://thebeezestalesfromthefishhouse.blogspot.com/2009/07/beeze-reviews-melting-pot.html

Now some non-sports moaning...I'm going on vacation as of Wednesday night...We're heading to Boston to see family and friends...And already...Before we have even hit the road...Mrs. Beeze's sisters have me stressed out...Apparently there has been some tension between her sisters and things blew up this weekend...Now,my hyper-sensitive wife is upset because all she wanted was a nice, restful, fun, family vacation, with her sisters and all the cousins together...And I'm suppose to bite my tongue if the sh!t hits the fan...Ha! I think we all know the Beeze can snap at anytime...I can see it happening...Sister 1 & 2 are playing nice...Then sister 2 is gonna say something sh!tty about sister 1...Then hyper-sensitive Mrs. Beeze will get upset...So sister 2 says something else shitty to her...Then I go f**king bat shit all over her...Then Mrs. Beeze is pissed at me too...Can't f**king wait!

Okay, just had to get that off my chest...Moving along...Saturday I found out Our Lady Peace will be playing The House of Blues here in Cleveland, Aug.20th...When I got home...Mrs. Beeze showed me again, why she is the sh!t, and why I have to put up with the hyper sensitive stuff...She ordered 2 tickets for us...And later that night she gave me some good lovin' after we watched an okay movie...Eagle Eye...Lots of times you could call bullsh!t, but wtf...It's a movie...

Now if you know the Beeze...You know I love music...And some of my favorites singers ever are female singers...Seriously, nothing better then a great female voice...Well, last week I tweeted something about Richard Cheese...1) Dude is funny as hell, if you don't know him, google that sh!t...2) Yes I'm on twitter...I'm a blogging whore, and it's another way to pimp myself out...Maybe one day I'll get paid to write this drivel...Anywho...After that tweet a lovely young woman who just happened to be opening for Richard Cheese started following me on twitter...And after going to her website and hearing her amazing soulful voice, I started following her...

Checkout Natalie Gelman...

And here is her website>>> http://www.nataliegelman.com/?mpf=frame&

The last thing I want to touch on is this...A friend of mine mentioned this last week, and I feel it needs to be brought up again...Incase you didn't know...Oscar Mayer died last week...Dude showed the world how wonderful and tasty scraps could be...Hot dogs, cold cuts and bacon...I'm sorry, but I would think he deserves more magazine covers, and TV time then Jacko...
-
And if you live in California...Just how pissed are you that tax payer money was used for that memorial service...Your state is already broke...WTF!?!
-
That's it for now...Have a great week...

The Beeze Reviews The Melting Pot

About a week ago, Mrs. Beeze and a couple co-workers made plans for a group of us to go to dinner at The Melting Pot...A fondue place... http://www.meltingpot.com/
It was 6 of us...To protect the not so innocent I'll slightly change their names...Except our server...MIKE...But we'll get to him in a bit...

The sitter showed up and the Mrs. and I went to meet the others...We planned on meeting in the bar first for a couple drinks...When we got there one of the other couples were already into their second drink...Bryan and May...(if you know who I'm talking about, I wasn't very creative with the name change)...These two crazy kids seem to like to drink, so I knew with my personality we'd have fun...May was drinking a Dirty Martini..."But not too dirty, just a little naughty." Bryan was drinking Great Lakes Brewing Company's Grassroots Ale...

What was I drinking? Nothing...At least not for 8 minutes...That's how long it took for the bartender to acknowledge my wife and my existence...When he finally did, she had a Stoli Orange with a splash of tonic...I first asked for a Heineken...He said they didn't have that...WTF!?! kinda place doesn't have Heineken...I could understand if I ordered a PBR...Instead I got a Great Lakes Dortmunder Gold Lager...A few minutes later the hostess took us to our table...

A few minutes later the other couple showed...We'll call them Todd and Laura...About 5 minutes later our server Mike greeted us...(5 minutes is too long...At least where I come from)...Mike with white boy, almost afro, partially in a pony tail...He was quickly dubbed Crazy Hair Mike, by yours truly...Mike asks "who's been here before?"...Only Bryan and May have...So he says he's going to go over things with us...Which we think is good, because the menu can throw you off...He proceeds to go on and on about drinks, and drink specials...Todd orders a Coke, and Laura just wants water...Don't worry Mike we'll make up for it...Bryan and I will have another couple beers...The Mrs. sees Caymus on the menu and she's thinking about a glass...May thinks that sounds good...Before Mike can go into his bottle selling bit...I say, "What the hell bring a bottle!"

Note to servers...This is a sign to treat this table well...Work it...These people are here to spend money...Don't f**k up!

So now we are waiting for our drinks, and trying to figure out what to order...What cheeses...What entrees...What salads...Our drinks take at least 5 minutes...Then Mike finally comes back...We order...Each couple got an entree for two...Ours had a $56 dollar tag on it...It had duck breast, chicken breast, teriyaki steak, pork tenderloin, chicken and veggie pot stickers...You also have to pick you broths to cook you food in...We got the Coq au vin and the Mojo...Each a extra 5 dollars...The wife got a Cesar salad ($5) and I got the Caprese Salad ($5)...

The cheeses for the table were cheddar, and the Wisconsin trio...You better like blue cheese if you get the Wisconsin Trio...But we wouldn't find this out for 30 minutes...You see your cheese is suppose to come out with bread, and veggies, and apples for an appetizer...We continued to drink...Well us drinkers...And waited...and waited...Bryan need to use the rest room...As he went to the front desk for directions...The hostess was taking a call...The call was from May...Asking to have Mike bring us our cheese...After repeating this a couple times the hostess hung up...As she walked Bryan past our table to point him in the right direction...I'm sure she heard boozy May laughing and repeating what happened on the phone...The hostess came back and checked on us...and in about 2 minutes Mike arrived to mix our cheese...

Note to servers...If you work in a place where you are at tables preparing items...It's a good idea to seem friendly and engage in conversation with the table...I mean you are working for tips right?

We also learned from Bryan's recon mission to the Men's Room...There were only 5 tables in the whole place...So what the hell was taking so long...After our cheese and stuff...We waited, and waited, and waited, for our salads...It had gotten to the point where we didn't even want them anymore...When Mike finally brought them out Bryan said...'Oh we don't really want those anymore.' But Mike must have thought we we joking, based on the booze and phone calls...

It was also at this point that a table of jail bait sat right near us, and Mike was giving them plenty of attention...Smart move douche bag...The table ordering diet Coke and apps is gonna get quality service...While the table ordering bottles of wine, $6 beers, and over $200 dollars in food is getting slow sh!tty service...Way to go dummy!

The salads were good...To be honest, my Caprese salad was outstanding...Then we waited a little longer to get our entrees...This is where this company is getting over on people big time...You get your plate full of raw nuggets that you will cook yourself in $5 broths...The Melting Pot doesn't have to pay chefs...Or really anyone with any cooking skill...Just some prep cooks who chop up raw meat, poultry, and sea food...

Was the food good? Yes...Was it great? No...Did we have fun? Yes...We got out of the house, away from the kids for a few hours...Drank plenty...Made fun of our server...Found out the name of May's Vibrator...(She is a funny drunk) And then when we got home I overpaid the sitter, and Mrs. Beeze and I had some sloppy drunk sex!

That said...The bill for The Beezes after tip was $150...For that kinda money, we could have had a really nice meal, with great service, and I would have had to cook my own food...But if you do try The Melting Pot...Get the Caprese salad...The only thing better was the Dortmunder!

The Beeze Reviews Alto Cucina

This past weekend The Beeze Family went to Erie PA. Mrs. Beeze's parents are there and many of her friends...We went in for her birthday...saturday night the kids stayed with the grandparents, and the Mrs. and I went out to dinner....I found a nice place...Well at least from what one of her friends said, and by what the menu looked like....Feel free to take a look yourself...http://www.altocucina.com/contactus.html

I have to be honest...I didn't think Erie would have a place like this...It's a town littered with chain restaurants and bars...and bars...and more bars....Which isn't a bad thing...Nobody loves a good dive bar more than the Beeze!

So we walk in and right off the bat I'm surprised....The atmosphere is great...Great decor...You feel like you're walking into a very nice home...They may because at one time it was a home...Also There was music playing...Not crappy restaurant music...Live music...A pretty cool band called The Heliotropes...

I'm not sure if they would descibe themselves this way...But...I would say they were kind of a Folk, Jazz fusion...They did a number of contemporary tunes, but with their own spin...Very enjoyable...

But now on to the important sh!t....The food!

I started with the Fontinella Cacchione...Baked Fontinella cheese in puff pastry topped with mushroom ragu....Yes, it was $13 and they may seem too much for some cheese, puff pastry, and mushrooms...But it was well worth it...I would say it was the highlight for me...Well food wise...We'll get to the other highlight later...

Mrs. Beeze started with the Spider Bellinis...Crab cake stuffed soft shell crab, polenta crusted and sautéed...Served with a spicy garlic aioli....Also very good...

We both had house salads...They were simple but good...Not too filling...Romaine lettuce...2 cuke slices...2 tomato slices...8 garbonzo beans...2 olives...And a light red wine vinagrette....

For our entrees...I had the Pollo Ferrito...Lightly breaded and sautéed chicken breast topped with sweet peppers, mushrooms, marinara sauce and a blend of Italian cheeses...Served over cremini mushroom ravioli...This was very good...It's basically a hot rodded Chicken parm...The mushroom ravioli was the best part...I only wish the would serve it with a couple more...It came with 4...Not enough! Especially when it is truely the best part of the dish...

Mrs. Beeze had the Scampi Ferrando....Sautéed jumbo tiger shrimp in garlic lemon butter cream sauce...Served over shrimp & ricotta cheese ravioli...She loved it...It looked good...And the little that she let me try was great...

For dessert the Mrs. had the Key Lime Cheesecake...It was was very light and had great flavor...I had the Strawberry Shortcake...Again, very light with great flavors...That is something you don't get enough when you order dessert...Most the time desserts are heavy, and make you feel like shit afterwards...These were so light and airy...Just excellent!

So along with all this great food...The Mrs. had 5 glasses of wine...Now it was her birthday...and all week I was telling her I was gonna remind her that she isn't old yet...I kept telling her that after dinner we were gonna find a nice dark place, and get it on like a couple of high school kids...She kept saying..."whatever!"

Well as we walked out of the restaurant and I was asking "where should we do it?" we noticed it was pitch black in the parking lot that was surrounded by a very wooded area...So she says..."We may as well do it here!" So there we are...Mrs. Beeze all buzzed up...just taking like in the front seat of a Honda...

It's good to relive your youth....Car sex is awesome...Keeps you on your toes...or knees...Or knees behind your ears...So get out there and get to humping in your car!
If your ever in Erie PA...Check out Alto Cucina...And then get your f*ck on!
