Monday Moaning: Dementia Moved In

The image is click-bait but that's always been part of the game, and a major part of my game since I started blogging at Sporting News back in 2007...But I always found a way to tie it in with the post...I carried it on with me here and at the now defunct YouGabSports....

-I had a couple of masterpiece blogs in the bullpen...They were going to get me noticed by Barstool Sports who would offer me a job...(yeah, right!)But with the murder of George Floyd, the ensuing protests, the hate spewed by the President and his ignorant supporters who hold the Confederate Traitors in such high regard, I scrapped those...I didn't blog...I just carpet bombed social media facts, truth, reality, history, and quick rants...I got flagged on Facebook for things that were factually correct but Anti-Trump and Anti-Racism...I got unfollowed by plenty of people, which is fine...If you're a racist...If you are ok with people flying Nazi and Confederate flags, I don't want to know you and don't want you around....I got suspended on Twitter twice...A week for tweeting at Drew Brees that he "is a fucking idiot"....My first tweet back was at Twitter and their owners, pointing out the hypocritical bullshit standards they have...And then I retweeted porn clips that are allowed on twitter at them...

-One blog shredding MLB for being a bunch of greedy fucks who are killing their game and are about to lose the dog days of Summer to the NHL...The NHL is planning to have their playoffs (the best playoffs of all sports) in July, August and September...Pushing the start of next season back, and if they stick with it that way they can continue starting their season later, and having their playoffs in the Summer, sports dead zone, when many people get extra casual with Baseball until it gets closer to September....But with Billionaire owners and millionaire players fighting over money, more and more people are going to care less and less about a sport who's core fanbase is dying...


-I had done  series of "COVID Blogs"...Those stopped This next section was going to be one in the series...A month into the COVID shutdown, we moved my Mother-in-Law in with us...My wife, three kids, two dogs, myself and my dementia riddled Mother-in-Law...She was in assisted living and was locked down, stuck in her room for over month...No visitors allowed, no activities, no dining room...It scrambled her already fragile brain even more...When we saw her outside of the place on her birthday, my wife and I knew we had to get her out...So she's here with us...My Father-in-Law went down this same road so we knew to some extent what we were getting into...But it's bad...It's hard...

The kids were doing school from home...The wife works from home...there's limited separation people can get...We get bombarded with the same questions over and over again...The last 20 years don't exist...She doesn't know who I am, except that I cook for her and answer questions...There are times she doesn't know my wife...

We made a answer sheet for her to keep...When she starts asking questions we tell her to look at it...She would ask a question, you would answer and she would ask it again immediately...She looked at the sheet and said, "This is my daughters house?" I said yes...She then said "Is she still alive?"...Which was when the most blunt thing I could say fell out of my face..."If she was dead you wouldn't live here."  I felt awful, but she forgot it within seconds...

My day often starts with making her Tea and toast or an English muffin with orange marmalade...Once she is sitting down eating and working on a puzzle I go and check to see if I have to mop the floor in her bedroom, the hallway and the bathroom, as she likes to take her diapers off during the night and often leaves a trail of pee.... 

It's hard seeing someone fall apart in front of you...It's hard on my wife, as her mother often seems ungrateful for what we do for her...At night she becomes child-like, wants to "break rules" and gets pissy with my wife...We had to put up a baby gate to try and prevent her from roaming around the house at night while everyone is asleep...She loves to search for cookies between 11:00 PM and 4:00 AM...We have signs on doors to help her and prevent her taking a header down the basement steps....

The one thing makes my wife nuts...Her mother will go to the bathroom door wide open, doing her business, everything hanging out...But then when she's done, she pulls the door shut behind her...WTF!?!

If 2020 didn't suck bad enough, especially for the kids, my oldest having her senior year of high school kicked in the balls...She gave up her room for her Grandmother and moved into her little sister's room...And Grandma has no idea who our kids are...She had lived everyday for over two months with them and looks at them like strangers...We spent so many weekends visiting...Personal time and vacation time spent with my in-laws...Moved to fucking Erie to take care of things for them....and she has no memory of them or any of it...There are moments when I talk to her and she looks at me like 'Who the fuck are you and what are you doing here.?'

As frustrated and annoyed as I get, I have to remind myself that my wife is watching her mother's brain turn to pudding right in front of her everyday...I don't know how my wife deals with it so calmly...Well, she does like to hit the bottle like the piece of click-bait at the top of this post! 

That's what's been going on in my world...

Have a drink...Stay safe...Stay strong...Don't be a racist...Help fight for positive change in this country and world...And love...Love your family...No matter what, love your family.

What's been cooking Gabbers?

Yes, I've been missing in action...Life has been hectic...Working 3rd shift has been a major adjustment, and combining that with helping out with my in-laws, and being a on-hands dad/Mr. Mom, my time is at a premium...But has just been that...I have very little interest at all in sports these days...I watch Hockey as much as I can, but otherwise I have tuned out the day to day bullshit of the sports world...

I have no itch...No desire to write...Nothing pushing me to rant and rave like I have been since 2007....Don't get me wrong, there is plenty of shit that is pissing me off...Like all these dolts that are running for President, and the frightening fact that people are so frustrated/stupid, that Donald Trump has a shot...The party of Lincoln and Eisenhower is a fucking mess...Don't get me wrong...I'm no fan of the Dems' front-runner, Mrs. Clinton....I don't trust her a bit...

The worst part is, it's only February...We got a long road of all this bullshit ahead...

The other things on my mind/in my life are not really stuff I'm willing to write about...I've always kept my posts open and honest but sometimes you have to think about other people and even have a personal line as well...

So, for now I will be taking a leave of absence from YouGabSports...It is nothing personal with any of our membership or my fellow owners...I just have no passion for it, and often don't have the time...I have put my heart and soul into this site for years, and it a truly special place for us old Sporting News Misfits...I hope to be able to recharge and find the passion again...Hopefully sooner than later...

I will leave you with this bit of sports...Many were pissed when NHL enforcer John Scott won the fan voting for the NHL All-Star Game...Many felt it was a joke...And it seemed like it started out that way...But the players embraced it, knowing how important Scott has been to his teams over the years...Fans embraced it as well, if you saw any of the All-Star coverage, you now what I mean...Scott is part of a dying breed in the NHL, and the NHL bosses made it clear they want that breed to die...They along with his team, the Coyotes asked him to back out...When the swell to keep him in grew, he was traded to Montreal who immediately sent him to the minors...It seemed like a clear power move to keep him out of the game...He refused as more support for him poured in, and he stuck it to the NHL, as his team won the new silly format, and he had two goals...Scott then was voted the MVP, and the NHL brass acted as if they were so happy by the outcome they tried so hard squash...

This morning I read a great piece...It was written by John Scott...Explaining the path his hockey career took and why...As well as what the NHL did and said to him to try and fuck up his moment in the spotlight...It's a really good READ...

I think this summed up how players feel about Scott...

Freedom of Speech...Not So Much

After finishing this week's MONDAY MOANING, I did as I always do, went to link it on my Facebook page...It is also setup to auto feed into our YouGabSports Facebook Page...But it didn't feed in...And when I tried to link it on my "wall" this is what I got...

It didn't happen with other things I linked...Just Monday Moaning...Now when I link on Facebook, what I post can only be seen by my "Friends"...I have my shit setup pretty secure...The only other place I link is a "private group" of former Sporting News bloggers...So the post is not out there for getting into everyone in the world's feed...So it bothers me that person/persons considered a "friend" would report my posts as "Abusive"...If you don't like it, don't read it...Even better, if it bothers you, you can block it...Unfriend me, and even block me...I've blocked tons of fuckers!  It's just like TV or radio...You don't like what's on, turn it off!

But we live in this oversensitive, cry if I don't like something, because it's not politically correct, pussified fucking world...And all companies do what the crybabies wish...Even if it is only 1-2 people out of my whole list of "Friends"...

As expected I have had no help from Facebook support, because as we all know, support from any company these days sucks balls!


Since I started blogging 8 years ago, I have always found myself under attack, because I don't always take the popular view...And I definitely don't take the PC view...And honestly, I never minded taking on those fights...It gave me more material to rant with...But I'm sick of this shit...Last I checked, Facebook was an American company...America which offers us all the FREEDOM OF SPEECH...And last I checked, the Internet was suppose to be this glorious place filled with free speech and free thought...But it's all being overrun with crybabies...

I tried to link a blog from MY website, onto MY Facebook page, and I was blocked...Seriously...WHAT THE FUCK!?!  Some one explain how this type of retardation goes on!

I've heard all the criticism before...I've been told I objectify women by using the pictures I do at the beginning of each Monday Moaning...But that folks, is just plain ole, BULLSHIT...The pictures I use are of Models, Actresses, and other women who freely post these pictures of themselves for all to see...I am celebrating these women...Celebrating their beauty, sex appeal, strength, boldness, and maybe adding to viewers Spank Bank...I am not objectifying these women or any women...You are...Because you are insecure in yourself, your beliefs, your looks, your character, your strength...

Just because your beliefs/opinions and my beliefs/opinions are different, does not mean you are wrong...Or that I am wrong...It doesn't mean either one of us has a higher moral ground...We just see things differently...What happened to discussion? What happened to debate? Instead, this fucking world has bypassed the good that can come out of that, and now goes straight to "REPORT ABUSE."


I don't force my views on anyone...You have the option to click the link or not...You have the option to out click if you don't like it...You have the option to read on, and challenge my views in the comment thread...But instead, you choose to force your views on me anonymously with your asshole, crybaby, tactics...

I use to love the power and reach of the Internet and all the technology so easily at our fingertips...I'm not sure I have that same love...Is it wrong to wish for the 1950's and 60's era...Yeah, there were problems then too...This country was racist as fuck...But honestly, it still is...

But people didn't cry every time they didn't like something, or their views/beliefs were challenged...They debated...They discussed...They stood up for what the felt and believed, marched, protested, burned their draft cards, burned their bras, they were engaged...Today they just anonymously click "REPORT ABUSE" and move on to the next thing they don't like.

Monday Moaning

Over my years over writing blogs, I have often shared very personal details...Pictures of kids, giving a restaurant a more positive review if my wife blew me on the way home...Angry rants of things that pissed me off...The old "Tales From the Fish House"...My personal political views...My favorite Christmas songs...My favorite movies...My Soap Opera or "Rom-Com" script under the pen-name of Seattle Flannel...My constant struggle with organized religion, and even bigger struggle with my personal religious beliefs...and yes...Especially on Monday...My love of eye candy...

And I think the best stuff written, is the personal stuff...

It all started with a Sporting News blog...But I knew I wasn't a stats guys who was going to break down film to write about sports...I always wrote about sports from my view...A fans views...My opinion...My feelings...Many times backed up by nothing more than, 'fuck you, that's how I feel!'

Right or wrong, I was telling you I was right...Because, I'm not some hot shot sports writer...I'm just a guy who likes to write, and likes sports...and eye candy, and food, and sex, and other stuff...And to be honest, most of the famous sports writers in this world, the guys who went to school for it...They're boring as hell to read...I find them often condescending towards fans...Some seem too be doing the bidding of who they cover...Some write want they think fans want to read...Some write things just to get people fired up...I find most of their writing to be fake...Unlike want my friends at  You Gab Sports do...They write from their own, honest, personal perspective...They don't care if no one agrees with them...They don't care if people are offended...They write what they want...And that is what makes our small little site better then most the crap out there these days...Thank You Gabbers!

Over the last couple weeks, I wrote about being done with the NFL...Well, I still am...One week of not reading about a NFL player being an awful person, isn't winning me back...Because it's not just about the few idiot players...It's the whole damn machine that I feel is broken...So I have no NFL talk for ya...And I won't all year...

This past week, I put in a bunch of hours at work, in 4 days...Come Friday, I started 10 days of vacation...And I fucking deserve it!  My wife deserves it...And my kids deserve it...They deserve to see me and spend some time with me...Little Beeze turns 10 this week, and I plan on spoiling him...Friday we called them out of school and went up to Erie PA to see her folks, and her siblings were coming in from Boston...Plus an Aunt, Uncle, and cousins from Philly...Boy they hate when bring up that great Bill Burr Philly rant!

It's great how thrilled kids can be over the simple luxuries of a nice hotel...(Home 2 Suites by Hilton was really fucking nice!)

And what a nice Fall view we had when taking Finnegan for a walk...

There was a lot of catching up...A fair amount of drinking...Eating some good food...Lots of laughs...And Saturday, small birthday celebration for Little Beeze, myself, and my wife's Uncle....

Look at the fireball of a cake...Too many candles...And too many cameras as there isn't one picture of us all looking at the same one....

And late Saturday night, Molly and I squeezed in the 4th quarter of the Notre Dame game with some "Man Chips"...(That's what she calls Pringles, because of the man's face on the can.)

After the Irish's victory...And everyone else got to sleep, I watched some College Football highlights, and I have to tell you, Thank God I Already Hated Michigan! Because after the way Brady Hoke handled his injured QB Shan Morris, I'd be boycotting Michigan too...Holy fuck Brady Hoke needs to be fired! One, he's a bad coach...Two, he did this...




How blind are you!?!  It was clear a hell that kid was dazed and confused...In the one angle you can see he's struggling to keep his eyes open...He's in fucking la, la land!

Then this happened...




I just don't know how you let that kid go back in the game...And for the record...When the game ended...Morris didn't walk off...He was carted off the field...

Hoke shouldn't just be fired by the University...The NCAA should fine the fuck out of him, and ban him from coaching...For God's sake I had to take a class, and pass a test on concussion safety and awareness before I could coach Tee-Ball...Did anyone even give Hoke and his staff a fucking pamphlet!?!

Unreal...

I hope to squeeze in some time to study up for the Gab Fantasy Hockey draft...I'm looking to Knock Sully down, after the ESPN computers stole my title two days after the season ended...Probably all the blogs I write bashing them!

And, I'd like to congratulate myself on my two wire-to-wire fantasy baseball titles!  Sorry Jeff, who I took down in the Championship of both!

Now, I'm going to try to catch up on some sleep...Have a week...

Monday Moaning

Well, the World Series is set, and the Boston Red Sox are heading back there to take on the St. Louis Cardinals...And yeah, this household will be rooting for Mrs. Beeze's hometown Sox...Plus, I hate the Cardinals anyways!

I plan on keeping this post short...The Beeze is feeling beat up and tired...Friday, while at work, I was getting some stuff from a walk-in freezer, when a not well stacked, box of frozen duck breasts fell on my head...I was okay...My head hurt...And my neck and shoulder slowly started aching, but I finished the day...But the wife was up my ass to go to the ER and get checked out...So I did...A couple of Doctors checked me out...Their main concern was a concussion...My main concern was my neck...In the end, I'm okay, and was told, "You'll feel worse tomorrow, take lots of Advil." 

Yep, some cock-sucker went to college for 8 years to come up with that...It's all guess work in a white coat!

Friday evening I had promised to take my daughter and her friend to our local high school's football game...They were on the road this week, so we took a quick drive out to that...Our team was down 21-0 and had two players on their way to the hospital by the end of the 1st quarter...They got smoked...The final was 49-21, and the parents and fans on our side were going wild when out team started playing well on D and scoring in the 4th quarter...I just wanted to stand up and scream...'Relax people, it's our first string against their second and third stringers!'   I get being proud when your kids don't give up, but grab hold of some perspective...Your senior suddenly looks good, because the kid across from him is a sophomore...

We got home later then I wanted to, after stopping for a bite to eat...The place had a band that was doing all 80's covers, so I got a kick out of it, while the girls, not so much...I crashed in  my chair watching Louisville choke away their season to UCF...

Saturday I was suppose to finish redoing our garage roof with my buddy...Luckily it rained all damn day...The Garage work waited until Sunday...That all mixed with the constant run around with the kids has me wiped out...

Saturday night Notre Dame beat USC 14-10...A win is a win...And a win over USC is always good...The Irish defense carried the team, especially after QB Tommy Rees was knocked out of the game...The Irish coaches have said backup, Andrew Hendrix has the whole playbook, but it didn't look like that Saturday, as they barely let him throw...The few passes he threw were bad...The Irish kept it on the ground and tried to kill clock...Luckily, between the defense, and USC just not knowing who they are, the Irish pulled out the win...

There were plenty of upsets this in College Football...Checkout what UNCLE_B.O.B had to say...Also give TAGE a read, as he covered the Pats, Red Sox, College Football, the Mess at Grambling State, what a disgrace that is...and more...

I also want to share this...Very few people paid attention to the Miami (Ohio) and Akron game...Hell, I don't know who won...Let me look it up...Akron won 24-17...But you gotta see this fullback, just destroy this linebacker...

The last thing I want to get into is Maxim Lapierre's dirty hit on Dan Boyle last week...




Lapierre only got 5 games for this...To me, that's bullshit...This guy is a repeat offender...Always talking shit...Always diving...And plenty of cheap shots...







And just ask Bruins fans about what a little asshole Lapierre is...The NHL has been talking tough about heads sots and hits from behind, and here is a guy who has a record, and he only gets 5 games...Fucking bullshit...

Not to mention, that Boyle is the second key guy on my fantasy team to be knocked out with a head injury...(Rick Nash is the other...Plus James Neal got hurt 4 minutes into the season...FML!)

Monday Moaning

Well, Monday is here again...I'm not sure what I'm going to write about this week, but I have to say, I'm in a shitty mood, so it may get ugly...To give you a taste of where my mood has been, I wrote THIS Thursday...And well things didn't get much better...

After work Friday, I picked up the kids from school...We hit the grocery store...Then I went to drop something off at my parents house...Now we're heading home...I see Johnny Law behind me, but I'm not worried...I haven't done anything wrong, and there's too much traffic to speed...Next thing you know, the lights come on, and he's pulling me over...He walks up, and asks if I know why he pulled me over...I say, "Honestly officer, I have no idea." He informs me that my tags have expired...For the first time in my life, I forgot to renew my registration...This is something I use to get done a month in advance, and I totally forgot...I apologized, and explained how embarrassed I was for forgetting...Even more shocking, It's been two months...I drive past cops at least twice a day...He wrote me a ticket and explained things to me...

Then as I went to leave, my car didn't start...Battery was dead, after sitting there with my lights and hazards on...The cop pushed me to a side street, and I called my old man to give me jump...The kids and I got home, unloaded the groceries, I made dinner, and after the wife got home, I went and got a new battery, and changed in the moonlight...

Saturday was another glorious double at the Fish House...And actually, I had fun there...I was feeling in a better mood after that...But after showering, and eating some left over pizza, I went to the Gab and read THIS_BLOG and my bad mood was back...Please read it, and the comments...You'll see me there...I'm sick of people shitting on Boise State...They'll fuck your school up!

Then I dozed off in the chair watching a college football scoreboard show, only to wake up to the little Beeze, coughing, and coughing, until he gagged, and puked...1:30 AM cleaning up a kid and a bed...Then I gave him some Benadryl, and we sat down and watched some Wow Wow Wubbzy to help settle him down, before we went back to bed...


Sunday was cleaning, and doing more preparing for the baby...Oh, I also watched the Browns game...The Browns dominated the first half, only to fall apart in and lose 24-20, to the Jacksonville Jaguars...Can some one please tell me how the Browns defense can make 4 interceptions, and get 2 fumbles, and the team loses the game...I've got one reason...They gave up 145 yards rushing! Hey guys, great that you can catch, but try fucking tackling next time!

After that I went back to the Fish House...We slung some Lobsters and now here I sit, checking out all the scores, and highlights, and all that other bullshit...This picture here may be my favorite highlight...


Look at the smile on Rodgers face...He's just gotta love watching Favre's fall...Yes, Favre shit the bed again for the Vikings...He even had a little temper tantrum on the sidelines after one of his signature interceptions...Watch THIS_VIDEO...

The OC should have gone off...I would have said something like, 'You suck dick, you old fucking asshole! Your old fucking arm isn't that strong anymore! You can't threat that needle bitch, you're fucking old, and those stupid fucks that brought you back from Mississippi, should all be cut! Could you please fucking die now!'

But that's just me...

Before I go, I'd like to tell College Football one thing...Okay, I'd like to tell them a few things, but for now, we'll just do one...Don't play anymore Football games in Baseball stadiums...It's fucking stupid! It looks dumb, especially when you can really fit a proper football field into a little stadium, like Wrigley Field...And Arm and Notre Dame at Yankee Stadium was stupid too...Now both those teams have to wash those nasty Yankee Stadium crabs off their ball bags...

Monday Moaning...More Like Blowing People Up

Well, that didn't take long! Yep, they're ripping "The King" down in Cleveland!

I hate to say it, but LeBron James was the big story last week, and all through the weekend...That thought is kinda sad considering all the problems in the world, but us Humans are simple beings...If you like to read my initial thoughts on LeBron, Cleveland, Dan Gilbert, and the whole damn thing, here's a LINK ...

Now, as much as I don't want to write about "The King"...I have to, a bit...I use to post at Sporting News on a regular basis...I fell out of favor with some because of my loyalty to YouGabSports ...Yes there is still loyalty in this world...I eventually got booted for comments I made about a Sporting News staff member...As we all know, I have never held back my feeling about LeBron James, or the city I live in...Good old Cleveland...So after Game 5 against the Celtics in this year's playoffs, I blasted LeBron James for quitting, and sucking, and for being a douche in his personal life as well...I also beat up the city too...Loyal LeBron fans, and Cleveland lovers, some who don't live here, jumped all over me...It turned into an ugly, hate filled, war of words...As I said, I'm no longer there...But after this "King James" crap, I had to drop in and checkout what they were all writing about the situation...

Hahahahahahahaha...Sorry, I had to laugh...Guess what all these, gashes, hatchet wounds, hypocrites, and c**ts are writing about? WHAT AN ASSHOLE LEBRON IS! DAN GILBERT SPEAKS FOR US FANS! LEBRON SCREWED US! WE HATE LEBRON! LEBRON QUIT! The guy wore a Yankees cap at an Indians game...He wore a Cowboys jersey at a Browns game...He purposely signed a 3 year deal last time, with an opt-out...What other f**king clues did you ass-hats need, to realize he didn't give a shit about Cleveland or you!?!

These are the people that took their time and money, over the last 2 weeks, made signs, and lined up on the streets of Cleveland, near the IMG offices, and begged Lebron to stay...Sad that they put that time, money, and effort into trying to get "The King" to stay in town, but they don't do that for the 70 plus Cleveland City School Teachers who are getting laid-off...They didn't do it for The Akron Police officers who were laid-off, or forced to take reduced pay...Good priorities!

Enough of that...My next Jesse Jackson is now comparing Dan Gilbert, to a slave owner...I shit you not...READ_IT ...Now, I get that Dan Gilbert's "Open Letter to Cavaliers Fans" may not have been the smartest move, and it was written with anger...But why the hell does Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton have to make everything into a racial issue...I really don't want to open this can of worms, but...One of the biggest reasons for the racial issues in this country are the "African American Leaders"...I've said this BEFORE Al and Jesse need to shut the f**k up!

In other sports news, the New York fans are pissed off...I read in the New york Times, that the Yankees felt used that Seattle backed out of the deal they were working on for Cliff Lee, and then made a better deal with Texas...Poor little Yankees got beat at their own game...Oh, and Knicks fans are all pissed off that LeBron didn't go to NYC...But Bill handles them better then me...

Why Baseball is Dying...

And lately these guys haven't been helping much lately either...The Joyce call wasn't the only bad one this season...Hell it wasn't the only bad one that night...This season has been full of bad calls, and pissy umps tossing people at the drop of a hat...

And no matter what people say...This kid isn't gonna save Baseball...

The reason for this blog, well it all started with Umpire, Jim Joyce being a dolt...Followed by Bud Selig being a dolt, which Bud being a dolt is par for the course...I have read countless blogs, and articles on the blown call...I have disagreed with many, and voiced it on many...Fell free to check out some great blogs at YouGabSports ...(shameless plug)

So I thought I should take some time and let my temper cool down, and then post my thoughts...
Baseball is something very special to many Americans...Hell I would even say that's true of myself...There's something about Fathers and Sons, and Baseball...Learning other sports is easy compared to learning Baseball...It's just different...As Tom Hanks said in "A League of Their Own"..."If it wasn't hard, everyone would do it. The hard is what makes it great."

But now it seems we have less and less kids interested in Baseball...Hell, we have less and less adults interested in Baseball...There are numerous reasons...We live in a 24/7 instant media world...We get everything quick...Baseball is slow...In general, we have gotten lazier...There are more and more kids growing up without fathers, or at least growing up in a household without two parents there...TV and Video Games are the babysitter too often...Kids don't get outside and play like they use to...When I was a kid, the whole damn block was warming up in front of our houses, then we'd all head to the park and play for hours...F**k now you gotta get a permit from the city...'screw it will play the video game instead of the real thing.'

But it's not just social issue, or an economic issue...Major League Baseball hasn't done much to help itself...And these people that call themselves Baseball Purists, they need to get the hell out of the way...They fight everything that could make the game better...They fought against the wild card...Holy shit, the wild card has made baseball so much better...It actually keeps a few more teams in the hunt, and gives the playoffs a little more excitement...They hate the DH...Well many of us hate pitchers going up there and swinging like Nancie's...(yes there are some that can hit a little, but not many)

Now the big fight is against Instant Replay...It's being used in limited, home run situations...But after the Joyce blown call, many people, like myself, want replay to be able to be used in close plays...The purists hate that...Them, along with Selig, are in love with "The Human Element"...If you can fix the mistakes from "The Human Element", why not use that technology...It makes the players and fans happier...Why wouldn't we want that? Every other sport has replay...Why is it so hard for baseball...This is just another thing for baseball to drag it's feet on...You could limit it like they do in Football...You could add another ump to the crews rotation, and each night there's an ump in the booth that handles the replay...That way the umps aren't losing any of their power, and it's not some suit looking over their shoulders...But the purists just want to stay in the dark ages...

After Joyce's blown call, that cost Armando Galarraga a Perfect Game, there was an outcry for Selig to change the ruling...Of course he said NO...And the Purists didn't want it changed either...It would open a can of worms...Then people would want them to go back and change a bunch of old blown calls, and that can't happen...Oh, except it did...Did you know at one time, there were 48 perfect games in the MLB record books...But then e=they went through with a fine tooth comb, and overturned more then half of them...Right or wrong, they did it...So let's stop acting like overruling a umps shitty call would be the end of the world...

I have a friend, a fellow blogger, who is a teacher, when writing about the Joyce call, explained how he used the incident in the classroom to teach the students some life lessons...I thought that was very cool, even though I didn't agree with all his points...His final point was this..."It doesn't really matter if Joyce called him safe. It doesn't matter if it isn't in the record books either."

I 100% disagree with that...Baseball has always put so much stock into it's numbers, and it's record books, that has been what they have always prided themselves on...So there is no way, that it doesn't matter to a pitcher who just got screwed out of a perfect game...And it should matter to us as fans too...Players get their accolades and get into the Hall of Fame based on their numbers, and what's in the record books...So it's only okay to change the books sometimes?

Do mistakes happen...Yes, in Baseball and Life...If we have a chance to fix mistakes in Life, we take it...Baseball should do the same...If for no other reason, then to save Baseball...Because Bud, and tight ass purists, are holding it back, and pushing people away...Baseball lost it's purity long, long, ago.

That all said, I can't wait to watch Strasburg strike out 20 Indians on Sunday!

Monday Moaning

It was great just to be nominated...But it's even better winning! Ha!

It was a busy week...Lets start with...

THE BEEZE'S CHRISTMAS UNWRAPPED...

After slinging some lunches out of The Fish House...I had a couple Christmas Ales...Went home, took the kids outside to spread some reindeer food...What you never heard of it...Just take some bird seed and some shiny sprinkles, mix them up, and let the kids throw them all over the yard so Santa's reindeer know where the hell to go...

Then I made some food for guests that were coming over...Then I cracked open a Christmas Ale...The kids and I checked the NORAD site repeatedly to see where the fat man was...I opened some more Christmas Ales...Got people out of my house...Got the kids to bed...Had a Christmas Ale...Then the wife and I did the big setup...From the looks of all the sh!t under the tree, we did our part for the economy, and now we'll be scraping by for the next couple months...Then I gave the Mrs. a pounding with my Yule Log...Got another Christmas Ale, and started working on putting together the bike we got for my daughter...

Not a bad job considering I was sh!t faced by the time I was done...

Christmas morning came quick...It started with the little Beeze saying, "Look I was on the nice list!" He had opened 5 presents before I even had my eyes completely open...It was insanity for about 30 minutes...Then the coffee was brewing and I was taking toys out of their packages...Do they really need to be strapped in the boxes that tightly...Do we really need to have 6 different sized screwdrivers for all the different battery hatches...Dear God! Then I took a nap...By noon I was no longer drunk, just hungover...Just in time to get ready to go to dinner...First year in 6 that I wasn't cooking, and I loved it!

The kids had a great Christmas...The wife was happy with all her gifts...I was happy with mine...Well, all except one...You may remember the wife and I have made a New Year's resolution to both lose weight...If I lose a certain amount, she promised to give up the holiest of holes! So what do I unwrap on Christmas morning? A deep fryer...Girl is trying cheat...But I won't be stopped!

Now, onto the Cleveland Browns...They gave their fans a nice present for Christmas...Mike Holmgren...This may be the best move they've made since their return...There's been a lot of talk about Holmgren giving Eric Mangini the boot...I haven't been Mangina's biggest supporter, but I think it may be a bad move to bounce him after only one year here...It's not like he walked into a team full of talent...And in the last month the Browns defense has shown some balls...The other big factor is we all should have known it would take some time to turn things around...Mangini set the team up with 11 picks in the upcoming draft...He knew this pile of crap needed depth, and like all coaches he wants his type of players...It may not be popular, by I think he should get a second year...Besides that, do the Browns really need another ex-coach on the payroll...I believe they're still paying two other dolts!

Other NFL news...the Steelers looked out of it just a couple weeks ago...Now all the sudden they're back in the Wild Card hunt...Way to sh!t the bed Ravens!

The Patriots seem to be hitting their playoff stride, as they beat the hell out of the Jaguars Sunday...

And is there any team that is more Jekyll & Hyde then the New York Giants...They've been all over the map this year...Couple good games...Bunch of bad games...Win here, lose there...They can't seem to get in a rhythm...I thought they might have found it last week, but then B-Dubs Panthers rolled into Giants Stadium and beat the living sh!t out of them...

And Mercury Morris and all his buddies can rest easy...The Colts called it quits on going for a perfect season...Why? I don't know...Hell, I don't care...F**k them! But who was that hack playing QB instead of Manning? What a slug!

The big news in College Football this week...Urban Meyer decided to step down as coach of the Florida Gators due to health concerns...Only to go Brett Favre two days later and say it's a leave of absence, and he'll be back...You know what...Whatever...I don't care...Do whatever you want, but don't keep calling the media every other day...I'm already sick of you Urban!

A bit of news on the little Beeze...Besides him making the nice list...We were informed Sunday evening that he would like to be an underwear model...Yep, he was striking poses and cracking his mother up...I gave him a 2 bits of advice...Stuff a sock in there...And start working on your abs...

Now, back to Christmas...I've always loved this time of year...If you celebrate Christmas...Don't stop...You see, I always would get down Christmas night...Because after all the fuss, it's all over so quickly...Well folks, there's 12 days of Christmas...Those days start on Christmas, and go to January 6th...Just thought I'd remind people Christmas wasn't always a commercial deal...It actually started as a religious thing...The 12 days took you from Christmas to the Feast of the Epiphany...Google that sh!t if you don't believe the dude who spent 12 years in Catholic prison...I mean school...

Some of the Beeze's Guilty Pleasures (Music Edition)

First up is the band Augustana...Mrs. Frag was wondering who the hell they are? So here ya go....




I also mentioned "Squok" by Genesis...It's from when they were cool, and not doing that crappy pop junk...Just sit back with a drink, or blaze up and enjoy this classic...




I also mentioned Journey...Yeah they were all about the power ballad...But they could rock...Neil Schon is an animal on guitar...And Steve Perry could sing like a mutha fucka...




In the comments of Mo's post I mentioned Pink, and Kelly Clarkson...I love female singers...The next guilty pleasure is from a band with a female singer...Paramore...I'm sure I may get some ball busting from this, but I dig it...Maybe it makes me feel young...




Here's another band with a female singer...K's Choice...A half assed Cleveland band called Big Sailor opened for them at the Agora in Cleveland back in '97 and I've been hooked ever since...




And since most people know Our Lady Peace is my biggest musical guilty pleasure...And since it was guitarist Steve Mazur's birthday yesterday, I'll close with this six pack out with them...This song is called "Paper Moon"...Great guitar solo!

Monday Moaning

Here we are again...The weekend has come and gone, and Monday is here to punch us in the face...But this week is a celebration...Friday, The BEEZEWAX turned one year old...And this week...Tuesday I believe, You Gab Sports turns one year old...Happy Birthday Gabbers!

Next up, The Cleveland Browns play the original Browns, the Baltimore Ravens, Monday night...God help us all, the Browns on Monday Night Football...Lowest ratings of the season I'll bet...I'm really hoping Jack and Jill Browns fans show up late...Let the people see an empty stadium...Let the league see what a joke this franchise has become...But there's something else about this, that really has me pissed...

Our local FOX affiliate, FOX 8 paid for the rights to show the game on their station..."For the people who don't have cable." I'm assuming they had to kick both the NFL and ESPN some money...Then when it was looking like the game wouldn't sellout...FOX 8 bought the remaining 3,000 plus tickets before the black out deadline...Why does this bother me? First, seriously, if you don't have cable, or DIRECTV, or something...Please go in the corner and die...It's time to move on douche bag...If you don't have cable, you shouldn't have a TV...Second, "House" Mother f**king "House" is on Monday night!

If you give me the choice between seeing Dr. House treat people like shit, while he saves their lives, and deals with his demons...Or watching the Browns get f**king Mollywopped by the Ravens...I'll take the Dr. with a limp and a drug problem...And if Jamal Lewis plays for the Browns...I hope the Ravens break both his legs!

Okay, I got that off my chest...

Now, onto the little Beeze...regular readers know, he's like his old man...He's a pervert...A 5 year old pervert...He can't let go of his junk...He seems to enjoy getting wedgies...He's a freak...So Saturday, while I was at work...He was having a battle with my wife and wasn't willing to lose...He wasn't doing what he was told, and wouldn't listen...She threatened him with a spanking...(he knows this is an empty threat...She doesn't spank)...So he says, "Oh yeah! Then pulled down his pants...She told him to put them back on...He of course refused...He finally put his pants back on after she had thrown a couple of his toys into a garbage bag...This kid is a pain in the ass!

There's still a good card to pull on him...I have the Santa card in my pocket...Yes, Christmas isn't far away, and he thinks Santa can see all the crap he does...I'll be abusing that card for a month...His Christmas List has a Puppy and a Baby on it...NO and NO! My daughter would like a private jet so she can fly to Hollywood, and France...She's already discovered Johnny Depp...God help me! My wife wasn't happy when I tried to explain to her, that Johnny Depp is a Communist...It's gonna be a long Holiday season...
