Quality and Inequality

Okay, this is not something I would normally write about...I'm not a Soccer fan...But there was a lot of rumbling Tuesday evening about the U.S. Women's Soccer Team...I've heard great deal of talk about their amazing run...And I saw their celebrations...Now this first part isn't an anti-American, anti-patriotism rant...This is just my personal, honest view...

We have a tenancy in this country, during international competition, to make our teams out to be the underdog...With the exception of our Olympic Basketball team...Seriously, America's international sports teams are not underdogs...Well, except the U.S. Men's Soccer team (ranked 27thin the world)...But the media hype has made it out like this Women's Soccer team was a fucking surprise...No!  If Japan would have beat them, then the world would have been shocked...So quit acting like it was an amazing thing we just saw...If you actually tuned in...Everyone says they did but please...I turned that crap off after the 4th goal went in from mid-field...That Japanese goalie should have just off'ed herself after that mess!

Now, comes the second part of the story...And this isn't an anti-women rant...or men are evil rant...

It broke today that female Soccer players make squat compared to the male soccer players...Apparently the Men's World Cup winner, Germany, earned a prize of $35 million, while the U.S. Women won $2 million...That's a pretty fucking big difference...Now I don't know what kind of numbers men's soccer drew vs. women's soccer in the World Cup...But it's kind of tough to justify that big of a gap...

But then the story spun further...Then everyone started talking about what the pay difference was for men and women in pro soccer...Which is what these players do during the 4 year spans between the World Cup...The average yearly pay for men in pro soccer is $305,809....The average for women is between $14,000 and $16,000...Again, that is a brutal difference...But part of that difference is Women's pro Soccer does not draw...There are a good number of the men's teams that draw very well...The average MLS attendance is a pubic hair below 21,000...The average attendance in the NWSL is 4,804...So it's like this ladies...If you put asses in the seats, you'll get more money in your bank accounts...

Then you mix in endorsement deals and shit...

I can honestly tell you, other then that dude married to a Spice Girl, I haven't seen much of male soccer players trying to sell me shit...But I have seen Alex Morgan trying to sell me stuff...

And I bet she got paid to be in Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue...

And I'd buy shit from her before I would from Spice Boy!

Thanks to her other dealings...Dealings because of Soccer and a good body, last year Morgan made over a million dollars...

So, while there is a huge inequality in pay between men and women's soccer...At the Professional level, due to attendance I see it's justification...Also, I would say there are less advertisers using dudes instead of T&A to sell us stuff...So maybe it's all a wash!

                                     Now that's how a Cubs fan should say happy Monday!

 

Yes, once you get past all that ass, you can see she's rocking a Cubs jersey...So why am I starting this week talking Cubs? I'm not...Just look at that ass!  There was some excitement at Wrigley Field this past weekend...Pearl Jam played the old ballpark...A few friends of mine went...It would have been cool to be there, especially when Mr. Cub Ernie Banks walked out onstage!

 

 







If you were there and are a baseball fan, let alone a Cubs fan, that had to be pretty damn sweet...Hearing Ernie say lets play two was great....Sadly, it's rare that playing two happens these days....I  often wish I could have lived to see so many of baseball's greats...I think of Baseball in the 40's-50's-60's, I'll even give ya the 70's,  and in my head, that's really Baseball...That's what it's all about...Then I read THIS_POST from our guy Radatz....He nailed it...It wasn't just Baseball that was Special, the character of our country was special...

I wrote THIS Wednesday, and I think it shows my frustration with where our country seems to be, especially from a media standpoint...Don't get me started on our government, that hasn't done any governing for couple years now, because all those DC dolts do is yell and whine at each other and say no to whatever the other guy says....There have been a couple movies about our Nation's Capitol/power structure being attacked, which lead to multiple news stories, and blogs about "What's our fascination with blowing up DC?" 

Do you really need to ask that question?  People are sick of the knob gobblers screwing things up, and screwing us over...The best we've got in reality is elections, which more and more people feel are rigged...Plus the two years of media covering the election shit, which mean politicians aren't doing their jobs, because they are busy campaigning...So we turn to fantasy...Movies, where that whole damn corrupt town get torched...Not hard to figure out....

Speaking of politics, douchebags, shitty media, and sports....Did you see ESPN signed Nate Silver...Silver, a statistician, who was the top guy at Baseball Prospectus, before starting his Five Thirty Eight column at the New York Times, predicting election bullshit...By the way, he of every election result nation wide 2012, he only got 1 wrong...ESPN plans to make him their Uber-stat man, and he'll do election shit for ABC...He will also be a major contributor to Keith Olbermann's  new ESPN talk show that will launch in late August....

Ahhh, another reason not to watch the so-called World Wide Leader!

-Okay, random sports shit that you never thought I would cover...The U.S. beat El Salvador 2-1 in Soccer...Now you know and I know, that I don't give a shit about Soccer...I didn't even know this game was happening...But when I saw the score on my phone, I smiled...The U.S. beat El Salvador in Soccer....My old Fish House friends know why this makes me smile! Our old boss was a Soccer nut from El Salavador, who loved to talk shit...Eat it Chalupa!

-Phil Mickelson won the British Open...I don't care about golf, but when they play the British Open I watch here and there, just because the courses and weather can be so tough...Sunday morning I only watched a bit before I had to start getting on with my day, so I missed what happened...Again, just heard about it via my iphone while Molly and I were kicking it at the park....

-Dolphins Center Mike Pouncey says he won't apologize for pictures he and his brother took with some douchebag, wearing "Free Hernandez" hats in support of their former teammate, Aaron Hernandez...

Okay, anyone who takes a picture with that douche should apologize...As for the hats...They're stupid...But if they want to support their boy, that's up to them...Dude plays for the Dolphins...It's not the first or last time he's gonna be on the losing side!

Yeah, this is about all the Soccer coverage you're gonna get from me...


I'm not going to act like one of those bandwagon, douchebag fans...I never liked Soccer...I never watch it...I don't care about it, and I'm not going to start now...

Yet America was filled with Soccer fans today...At least a lot of people acting like they were Soccer fans...And then the newly converted Soccer fans, because the U.S. Women's team was playing in the championship game...WHAT!?! This wasn't even men's Soccer? WTF people!?! Oh, I can smell the angry ladies now, as I belittle female sports...Let's be honest people...Women's sports have a hard time drawing to begin with...Mix that with Soccer, which has a hard time drawing in the U.S. and you have something on your TV to help put you to sleep!

By the way, the U.S. lost on penalty kicks or whatever...Suddenly Americans get why people were saying how it sucks to decide a game on penalty kicks...

And I have to go after a couple dolts on Twitter...Yes there were constant Twitter updates from these newly found Soccer fans...But there were a couple who went after President Obama for not being at the game...Now I've written things against him, and in favor of him, but this shit is just retarded...I think he some more important shit to worry about, then a Soccer game...You know, like trying to get Democrats and Republicans to work out some kind of deal that will stop the world from falling into an economic shit storm...And the troops that are still fighting overseas...And countless other things...

Oh, and don't forget the media and bloggers like me who would be up his ass if he was wasting his time at a stupid fucking Soccer game, instead of trying to do his job...

And before you ask, I didn't watch the fucking Golf either! That would have sent me to nap time as well...

In Football news, Cedric Benson has been arrested again...This is his 4th bit of legal trouble in 3 years...He is also the third member of the Bengals to get arrested in the last couple weeks...Yeah, Pac-Man Jones got busted too...The NFL should just suspend that whole fucking team right now!

Now to the Little Beeze...Tee-Ball season has gone well, and surprisingly it is almost over already...I wish the season was a couple weeks longer...I'm really seeing the improvement, and would love to let these kids get some more hacks...My boy has been excellent in the field...He's got one of the three best arms on the team...His hitting was good last year, and it's gotten better each week...


The boy has been crazy about that damn Angry Birds game for the last year...The constant updates keeps it exciting for him...He's also a good little Artist...Great at drawing, and then Saturday, While I was working my double at the Fish House, the Mrs. texted me this picture...



Kids got it down pretty good...Sunday I asked him if he could make anymore with Play-Doh...He proceeded to make another red bird...3 blue birds, and two yellow birds...If Baseball doesn't pan out, maybe his art skills will take him somewhere!

He also found this video on his iPod, and loved it...He asked if I would put it in the blog, and I said what the hell...

I heard there was some soccer talk going on...Apparently there was a big game between the U.S. Men's team and Mexico in California on Saturday...Now there were a few things that happened that surprised people...The U.S. had a 2-0 lead...SURPRISE! The U.S. lost that lead...NOT A SURPRISE! The U.S. lost 4-2...NOT A SURPRISE!

But the one that has many people surprised has to do with the attendance...Of the more than 93,000 people who paid to see this game, 80,000 were there to support the Mexican team...Me: NOT SURPRISED! It was at the Rose Bowl...There's a big Mexican/Hispanic population in California...People in the U.S. don't care that damn much about soccer...There should be nothing shocking about this...How often do Americans show up in big numbers for Soccer...Especially when there is a perfectly good Saturday to be had...Why blow it on soccer!?!

Then I heard some one say the Women's World Cup is starting...Why do they keep trying to push soccer...Knock it off, we don't care! Unless all the chicks looked like Rosie up above there...But they don't, so knock it off!

In some Hockey news, The Philadelphia Flyers decided to finally spend money on a high-priced goalie...But to do so they had to move a couple of key players, shipping Mike Richards to LA, for young "talent"...So of that talent overrated...Win for LA...

Then they traded Jeff Carter to Columbus for Jakub Voracek and a couple draft picks...I didn't mind the draft picks because this year's draft was filled with high-end talent...Voracek is talented and was starting to click with Rick Nash...But Carter finally gives Nash a quality Center to play with...So maybe will call this one even...

Then the Draft happened, and the trading got Wild...Starting with the Minnesota Wild trading Defensman Brent Burns to San Jose for Devon Setoguchi, Charlie Coyle, and the 28 overall pick...

The Chicago Blackhawks who have been battling Cap trouble since winning the Stanley Cup last year, traded overpriced D-man, Brian Campbell for player(s) to be named...And traded Troy Brouwer to the Capitals for their first round pick...

Now that everyone is asleep, let's get to the good stuff...

Friday my Mom took the Little Beeze to get his hair cut...He wanted a Mohawk that would look like a shark fin, but the Mrs. said no...He got it cut nice, and they gave him some goop so he could spike up the middle for a fin when he wanted to...

So Saturday morning he was trying to goop up his hair, and it wasn't working well for him...So he got pissed, got his scissors from his pencil pouch, and started chopping...Then he showed my wife...He was afraid he was going to be in trouble with me, but all I could do was laugh at his crooked, jacked-up hair...

Sunday I took him to get it fixed...He wanted to go totally bald, but I knew the Mrs. wouldn't like that, so we left a bit of hair on his head...What do you think?



Sunday I took my new favorite picture of Molly, while feeding her dinner...



Molls is a big Music fan, like all of us in this house...When she's up late I test different stuff out on her...She's becoming a fan of Coltrane, Portishead, Paul Westerberg, and Billy the Kid...So this week we'll end with Billy's latest video...

Nice cans, but fuck Burrows bitch!

If you don't know what she and I are talking about, look below...

Yes, Canucks douchebag, Alexander Burrows, bit the finger of Patrice Bergeron in game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals...So what happened? The pussies running the NHL did nothing about it...Burrows went on to score two goals in game 2, helping his team to a 2-0 series lead...The Big Wigs in the NHL have a knack for being inconsistent when it comes to punishment...If this would have been Sean Avery, he would have been suspended for the rest of the series, fined, and new rules would have been written saying his mouth can't be open within 2 feet of another player...

Remember when they wrote the "Avery Rule" two days after this happened...



But enough of that...The biggest reason the Bruins are down 2-0 is their defensemen get caught pinching in too often...Goalie Tim Thomas gets too aggressive and over compensates for his defensemen, especially when they are down, or in OT, and then gets out of position because of it...He needs to rein it in...

In other Hockey news...Wednesday I wrote about the sale of the Atlanta Thrashers, and their move to Winnipeg...And before that I wrote about the shitty, non-supportive fans in Atlanta...So I was thrilled to see this weekend, that Winnipeg sold out their 13,000 Season Ticket plans in 17 minutes...Hey Atlanta, eat a dick! Hey Gary Bettman, fuck you for doubting the people of Winnipeg...You can choke on a load too!

To Baseball...The topic of Buster Posey getting injured in a collision at home plate, just won't die...I've read too many blogs about it...Commented too many times...Heard too many talking heads chime in on it...Well here is my last statement on it...HOPEFULLY...

Scott Cousins made a hard-nosed Baseball play, that players are taught to do...Posey, as a catcher knows the risks of playing the position...It's not Cousins' fault that Posey's stupid spike got stuck in the ground...It's Baseball, and while it's not as physical/violent as Football or Hockey, there are still aggressive, physical, contact plays in it...It was a clean play...

And.....Fuck you San Fransisco Giants Fans...After one of your own was beaten nearly to death by asshole Dodger fans, you fucking cocksuckers turn around and make death threats to Cousins...Fuck you fucking fucks!

On to more asshole fans...A group of Ohio State/Jim Tressel fans, showed up at his house, and did cheers and sang songs, showing their love and support for this cheating ass-hat...Tressel responded by coming out, and guaranteeing a victory over Michigan this year...For_Real!

Ahhh, shit...Once again the baby is awake...She has been making a habit out of waking up sometime between 11 PM and 1 AM, and staying up for a couple hours...Wanting to play or just hang out with Dad...Maybe she just wanted to get her cute face in another blog...

U.S. Soccer Still Sucks

In Case you missed it, ESPN put a Public Service Message on their network Yesterday...The aired the U.S. vs. Spain Soccer game...Spain won 4-0...

What was the Message?

No matter how many Soccer Moms the U.S. produces...It still produces shitty Soccer!

THANK YOU GHANA! Now maybe we have to hear about Soccer anymore! My God am I sick of these suddenly soccer fans out there... Other then that Donovan guy...Name me the U.S. starting 11...You probably didn't even realize it was 11 guys out there...Why don't you tell me again, "There great athletes!" Are they douche bag!?! 'Cause I don't think we'd be seeing any of them playing Football, Hockey, Basketball, or Baseball...But I bet Bo Jackson could have played some f**king soccer...They aren't great athletes...They're great joggers...That's what they do...They jog around the field for 2 hours, with an occasional burst of steam, for a brief scoring chance, that fails...Game over, you wasted 2 hours!

As you can see, I don't like Soccer, and I give ESPN some of the blame...They've made me think about Soccer, the same way I would think about a dick...I don't like it, and I don't want it forced down my throat!

Moving on...I've been critical of Baseball, and Cleveland over the past year, or two...Well why stop now?

First I want to touch on the Indians...I've been going through the moves GM mark Shapiro has made...He's moving into the President position, and one of the tools below him, has by hand picked to fill the GM role...So things aren't going to get better anytime soon...Here are some of the moves...And hey, I found a couple good ones...Let's start there...They traded Casey Blake for Catcher Carlos Santana...He's an average catcher, with a hell of a switch-hitting bat...Sounds just like Victor Martinez...Santana is part of the reason they felt they could move Martinez for some young pitching...Sadly the young pitching the Indians got for Martinez was Justin Masterson, who is below average in every sense of the word...My tee-ball team fields better then this dope...He's an awesome 3-14, with an ERA of just under 5.00 since joining the Tribe!

Then there was Cliff Lee to Philly for 2 pitchers who have struggled in the minors...One has now had 2 arm surgeries...Lou Marson, who is an awful catcher, and can't hit his weight...And average, infielder, Jason Donald, who ruined a perfect game by being called safe when he was clearly out! The biggest problems with these two trades were...They were bad trades...You got shit! And, both Lee and Martinez still had another year on their contracts...They didn't need to rush on these deals...Even though Shapiro had what teams wanted, and was in the drivers seat, he let them push him around...He's an ass! Oh, and don't forget C.C.Sabathia for 3 average minor leaguers!

And people wonder why I've given up hope in this team...Sit down and watch an entire Indians game...It physically hurts...That's how bad they are...

Also in Cleveland...There are so many people just dying for July 1st...They can't wait for free agency in the NBA...These dolts all think LeBron James, and every other free agent are going to sign on that very day...WAKE UP DUMMIES! Not gonna happen...He's making you f**kers wait...And yes, many people feel LeBron is going to stay in the Cleve...I honestly have no idea how people can live in this town, and still think positively...Good luck with that!

Since I'm just beating on Cleveland, let's talk about my trip to the grocery store Sunday...I do most of the shopping...Why not, I gotta cook the shit...She'll just burn it...So I'm there, and I start noticing fat people...Believe me, I've got plenty of extra pounds on me right now, but these people were seriously fat f**kers...The first one I really noticed was this old broad in a wheel chair...She was in it because she was so f**king fat, she couldn't walk...What was she doing...Stuffing her face with about 20 free samples that were sitting outside the deli...Next up for fatty was the bakery...

The last fatty I saw was in one of those motorized carts, and you could just smell the diabetes coming of this guy...Then you look in his cart...I shit you not people...16 six-packs of 20 oz. Pepsi Bottles, a pack of hot dogs, a pound of Ham, and pack of American cheese...Way to fast-track death Chubs!

Now, we come to the point where I talk about my son...The Little Beeze...First, Tee-Ball...The Seawolves are doing well...By my standards we won our first two games...Since they don't keep score, and the whole lineup bats, no matter how many outs are made, and all the other silly rules, I go by how many outs are recorded...In the first game we recorded 4 outs, the other team 1...The second game we recorded 4 again, and they got 2...So in my book, we're 2-0!

Second part about the boy...He can wipe his own ass...BUT...We don't always trust him, so sometimes we check...Sunday he was going a lot...So I told him to call me when he was done, and I'd wipe him, just to make sure he wasn't leaving anything in there...Or on the floor...Or God knows where...So I'm wiping his ass, and he says, "Use a wet one!" (meaning baby wipes) It was a bit messy, so it made sense...Then as I'm wiping his ass, he says, "That feels so good! So good!" So now we know why he was in there so much...The boy is a freak...He must have heard us that time the wife finger popped me in the ass! (Not in a gay way guys!...Not that there's anything wrong with that!)
