Connor McDavid Out Long-term

The Edmonton Oilers and the NHL got some bad news...Superstar rookie, Connor McDavid will be out, "Long-term" with an "apparent upper body injury"...That's what was being said late last night....

The injury occured as McDavid was driving towards the goal and was run into the boards...

Official word of what the injury is, will be disclosed later today, but all speculation and rumblings have it being a broken collarbone and that McDavid will be put on the Long-Term IR...

How long that term will be is unknown...He's young, healthy and strong...He'll recover quickly...But the Oilers may also take their time and not rush the rookie phenom back...

Like I said, this is bad news for the Oilers...Bad it's bad for the NHL too...Through 13 games McDavid had logged 5 goals and 7 assists...The NHL and it's TV partners were looking forward to two McDavid vs. Crosby match-ups this month, the first being Friday...Plus McDavid and the Oilers versus the defending Cup Champion, Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday...

I wish the kid a speedy recover, and hope the long-term isn't too long...for the good of hockey and my fantasy team...

Penguins Making More Moves

There has been much speculation about the Penguins making another trade this offseason, after making the Phil Kessel trade with Toronto...Today they moved center, Brandon Sutter and a 2016 third round pick to Vancouver for Forward Nick Bonino, and Defenseman, Adam Clendening, and a 2016 second round pick...

Sutter has a year left on a contract that is a $3.3 million cap hit...Bonino is signed through the 2016-2017 season at an annual cap hit of $1.9 million...The two have similar offensive numbers and both play solid defense...The Penguins feel Clendening, who only has 21 NHL games under his belt, still has plenty of upside and expect him to be in their top 7 defensemen this season...

Then with the money they freed up, the Penguins signed forward, Eric Fehr to a three year, $6 million contarct...Fehr is a big, strong player who has put up 177 points in 454 NHL games, most with Washington.

Lots of NHL Moves...Who Won?

This past week the NHL's free agency period opened up...And while there were plenty of signings, the biggest moves were all trades...The first one, and the biggest one was the Toronto Maple Leafs, after much speculation, moving talented scorer, Phil Kessel to the Pittsburgh Penguins...And while many in Toronto are happy to be rid of Kessel, the Penguins won this deal...

Kessel, with great hands, great skating, good speed, to go with his piss-poor defense, often out of shape, coach killing, locker room cancer ways, has driven people crazy since stepping into the NHL...Guys with his goal scoring ability don't get traded for no reason...Especially not twice...By all accounts the guy is a pain in the ass...He has a wealth of talent, but doesn't work hard enough...Doesn't play D...He's fat...But man can he shoot...And now he's going to a team where he has talented people around him, to feed him the puck, and he won't have to worry about D...Sidney Crosby has got to have had a boner since this news broke...There's a chance he'll actually be playing with an elite goal scorer, assuming the pair Kessel with him and not Malkin...Malkin and Sid don't play well together...So with this deal, the Penguins could have two high-powered lines...

And what did they give up for Kessel? Well, Kessel comes with two prospects who haven't sniffed the potential they are said to have in D-Tim Erixon, and W- Tyler Biggs...As well as a 2nd round pick...The Penguins gave up, Prospect F-Kasperi Kapanen, average prospect, F-Nick Spaling, and prospect D- Scott Harrington, who if I'm making a big trade, he is not the Penguins D prospect that I would trade for...They have better...Also the Penguins send conditional 1st and 3rd round picks...The Leafs may be rid of the Kessel bullshit, but they lost...

Pittsburgh also resigned trade deadline acquisition, D- Ian Cole...3 years for $6.3 million is a good deal for keeping your Blue line strong...

The other big trade...The St. Louis Blues sent star RW- T.J. Oshie to the Washington Capitals for F- Troy Brouwer, G-prospect Phoenix Copley, and a 3rd round pick...Ummm, Yeah, Washington is a big time winner here...Oshie gives them the ability to have two strong top lines...And makes their Power Play a lot better...Brouwer is an average grinder guy...And Goaltending prospects are often the toughest to figure out...Example, Rick Dipietro was a first round pick, and fucking horrible! Henrik Lundqvist is one of the NHL's elite goalies, and he was a 7th round pick...

There were a lot of rumblings that at least one of S. Louis's stars was going to get moved, so I wasn't shocked when it was Oshie...He was quite outspoken late last season about the teams lack of respect for their coach...

The next trade, and this one surprised the shit out of me...The Chicago Blackhawks traded pending restricted free agent W- Brandon Saad, prospect F- Alex Broadhurst, and prospect D- Michael Paliotta to the Columbus Bluejackets for forwards Artem Anisimov, Marko Dano, Jeremy Morin, Corey Tropp, and a 4th round pick...It was no secret that Chicago was going to have to make tough decisions, and there are probably a couple more moves they will make to free up cap space...But trading the young, talented Saad who had a huge playoff run, caught a fee of us off-gaurd...

Anisimov is good, and Dano will jump right into the lineup as well...Tropp is a grinder who may end up in the AHL, and this will be Morin's second stop in Chicago, and not much is expected...Saad bolsters an already Talented and ready to burst lineup in Columbus...Adding him to their top six just made this already tough to play team, a real pain in the ass...Columbus locked Saad up this week with a 6 year, $36 million contract...Columbus wins this deal...

Signing-wise, the winners start in Alberta...Edmonton signed D- Andrej Sekera (6 years $33 million) and F- Mark Letestu (3 years $5.4 million)... Letestu is a well rounded player who can play on the PP and PK and will be a good influence with that young team...

Calgary signed RW- Michael Frolik (5 years $21.5 million) after a breakout season...They also agreed to terms with 22 year old D- Dougie Hamilton (6 years 34.5 million) after trading with Boston for him...They also inked G- Karri Ramo for another year at $3.8 million...Between their draft weekend moves, and these, both of Alberta's teams are looking good...

Arizona did well too...Signing back two players they recently traded...Stanley Cup Finals clutch performer, F- Antoine Vermette (2 years $7.5 million)   and D- Zbynek Michalek (2 years 6.4 million)...Also, solid backup goalie Anders Lindback (1 year $875,000) and tough guy, with some skill, Steve Downie (1 year $1.75 million)...

One signing jumped out at me, and could be a surprise win...The Ducks signed Goalie Matt Hackett for 2 years $1.2 million...Hackett (25 years old) was the third string guy in Minnesota, before he was traded to Buffalo...In Buffalo he was lumped in with a mess of goalies, and none quite got the shot to be the guy...Hackett has talent, and if he gets regular work, he could be really good...

Losers... Buffalo...Yes, they signed 2nd overall pick Jack Eichel...But on draft weekend they traded for Ryan O'Reilly, who comes with a big ego and an agent that feeds it, and wins apparently...At 24 years old, and 6 seasons into his NHL career, O'Reilly has only scored 20 or more goals in a season, once...Yet his agent was commanding big money, and that's why Colorado was eager to trade the physical, defensive Center...Well, Buffalo resigned him to a 7 year, $52.5 million deal...

The O'Reilly deal will lead to more winners...Guys like New York Rangers C- Derek Stepan, who just filed for arbitration...And a guy like Steven Stamkos, who will be  a free agent nest year...'O'Reilly got $7.5 million a year? I better get 10 or 11!'

Surprise...35 year old Brad Richards cashed in on his Stanley Cup run with Chicago, and got a 1 year $3 million deal with Detroit...Many didn't expect Detroit to be much of a player in free agency, but they did this, which was a tip-off...Because next they signed D- Mike Green for 3 years $18 million...Detroit is getting older, but always seem to move talented young guys into their lineup...Will these two moves payoff?

My Rangers did squat...They announced their GM Glen Sather was stepping aside, but staying President...His right hand man is the new GM...Now he must search for cap space, and resign 4 important restricted free agents...And he has no 1st round picks for a couple years...Thanks for the ass fucking Glen!

If I didn't cover your team, they didn't do anything that really grab me...Let me know how you think they did, or ask me about your team, I'll have some thoughts...I've been going through all the moves fro a couple days.

Monday Moaning

Ain't that the truth!  Might be what the Chicago Blackhawks are saying to the LA Kings...The 'Hawks have taken a 2-0 lead on the Kings and will now head to LA to play games 3 and 4...Chicago's speed and skill has shown some weaknesses in the Kings game...And Goalie Johnathan Quick who has been so impressive through the playoffs, suddenly looks very human...I expect the Kings to take one game at home, but the way this series looks, I think it may be over in 5...That would be good for me since months ago I was saying Chicago would be in the Finals...

In the East, Boston went up 1-0 after shutting out the Penguins...Pittsburgh seem unsure of their goalies, and they got out of their own game, and tried to get physical with the Bruins...That's not a battle they're going to win...

And of course, where there is Penguins forward Matt Cooke, there is contraversy...Cooke who was a decent, player with some skill, at some point decided to be a shithead and make his career all about trying to injure people...Cooke started with knee shots...Then moved up to head shots...So when he called for this penalty Saturday, no one should have been surprised...

Yet, Penguins fans were unhappy...Odd...Later, the Bruins Brad Marchand made a similar hit on James Neal, and Boston fan didn't seem to get up in arms about the call...But it was the reaction from a Pittsburgh fan...A Pittsburgh citizen, that really caught people's attention on the internet...Meet Jordan Kuruc...

Wow!

I have said some awful shit to people online...Hell, I've said awful shit to their face...But this douchebag didn't seem to get why people were so mad about this tweet...And then when he apologized, and deleted it, he expressed the reason he felt bad was because "a kid died" in the bombing...This douche just couldn't get why people turned and attacked him on Twitter...Then, come Sunday he began to enjoy the role...Saying how he "Always wanted to be a heel in the WWE."

Jordan Kuruc felt bad that "a kid died" in the Boston bombing...Imagine this Jordan...You're a little girl...Ha! he does look like a bitch...Anyways...You're there, the bomb goes off...Your brother dies...Your mother suffers severe head trauma...Oh, and you lose your leg...Just imagine that...That's just one little girl's story...Now can you get why people are pissed...You got your 15 minutes for being a total fucking asshole...

I'm a dickhead, and I wouldn't have said that about a hockey game...Especially defending a piece of shit like Cooke...I want to wish pain and suffering on Kuruc....You know, like some awful shit...Like him and everyone he loves, get AIDS....But screw it...I'll rise above...You're fucking asshole, and everyone knows it....Oh, and thanks for giving me another reason to hate you're asshole city!

In other Hockey news, The New York Rangers fired their coach, John Tortorella...His abrasive style wasn't going to last much longer, even if the Rangers did beat the Bruins...Torts had his guys, and they bought  into his system, and style he wanted them to play...Those that didn't, were bounced...Yet, he still found ways to shit all over the guys he had...The only people that got more shit were the media...So, this is why you hear no one arguing against his firing...He's a good coach...But shitting all over grown men is going to get old quick...I'm surprised it took as long as did before the players had enough...

But I have another question...Why is GM, Glen Sather not on  the hot-seat...He's been with the Rangers for 13 years...He's had 6 coaches...The best the team has done is getting to one conference final...Now there is talk that he is looking at two of his old boys to be the next coach...Wayne Gretzky, who's first stint as a head coach wasn't a very good one...And Mark Messier...Messier's only coaching experience is coaching his son's pee-wee team...Yes, the fans would love it...Sure, some players might get a thrill out of it...But I don't think it's a good move...This team needs a proven coach...Not a couple of old super stars who are missing the spotlight...

-As for my weekend...It was pretty uneventful...Friday I was suppose to meet some old friends out for drinks...Sadly, I fell asleep with Molls while I was trying to get her down...

Saturday we had a baseball practice...The team is coming along well...Then we relaxed at home...Pizza, hockey, and a jam session...

Little Beeze finding the Groove...

Molls was a heck of a band leader...

That's it for now...Oh, and say hello to our NEWEST member...

Have a week...

Sidney Crosby Had Sex with the Stanley Cup

There are certain things you shouldn't do with the Stanley Cup...Like taking a $h!t in it would be bad! But if you do something that would make you look like a douche...Don't let people snap a picture of it...

Here is Sid the kid after he finally got some action...Too bad his first time was with Lord Stanley's Cup...And in Mario Lemieux's bed...What a dirty little boy you are Sidney!

Monday Moaning

Well here we are again...Time seems to be flying by...Let's get right to it...

The Los Angeles Lakers just beat the Orlando Magic for the NBA title...Woo Hooo...I could give a f**k! Whatever...I just don't care about basketball...

Friday night The Pittsburgh Penguins beat the Detroit Red Wings 2-1 to take home the Stanley Cup...Just what I need...More calls and texts from Johnny F**king Pittsburgh, telling me how great his town is...How much mine blows...I know...I live here...I get it...You f**cking rule...God I hope Roethlisberger snaps his f**king leg during pre-season...Maybe I should buy him a new motorcycle!

Back to the Hockey...As some one who likes to see certain people suffer...Or just feel like $h!t...I loved seeing Marian Hossa down on one knee watching his former teammates celebrate...That's right...Hossa left Pittsburgh after last season because he felt he had a better chance of winning The Cup in Detroit...Maybe that would have been true, if he would have scored some goals in the final....DOUCHE!

Moving on...I haven't dropped any Notre Dame News in some time...Waiting for football season to get going...It's just around the corner...

Anyway...Notre Dame senior, goaltender, Jordan Pearce and senior, captain, right wing, Erik Condra, have been named Academic All-Americans on the At-Large Team by ESPN The Magazine....Voting is done by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA)....Pearce was named first team Academic All-American...Condra was a second team selection....For Pearce, this is his second time selected...He was a second team selection in 2008....The hockey duo gives Notre Dame 210 Academic All-Americans in the program's history....

Pearce is the second Notre Dame hockey player to be named Academic All-American twice in his career....Steve Noble, (1996-97, 1997-98) who is an old friend of mine was the other...Noble and Pearce are the only Irish hockey players to be named first team Academic All-Americans....

Now...What else is there...Saturday the Beeze spent 14 hours in the Fish House...Nothing like feeding people with alot more money then you, to make you feel good about your station in life...That and the smell...Grease and Fish...Mmmmmm...I've taken 3 showers...It's finally gone...

Most of Sunday was spent having a jam session with the kids....Little dude will turn anything into a drum set...This time many parts to the Dora Kitchen were used...

Sometimes it's rough when Dad's play room is also the kid's play room...The jam session started when they heard me working on something I started writing last week called Worms on the Mirror... http://thebeezewax.blogspot.com/2009/06/worms-on-mirror.html

So the song isn't done...But we had some fun...And gave Mrs. Beeze a headache...She got her revenge though, as she busted my lip open during some hard Sunday night sex...What a better way to start the week...Some Sunday Moaning followed by some Monday Moaning...

That's all for me now...But watch for the next edition of The Beeze's Skull F**ks...This week we will be selecting or first class to the Skull F**k Hall of Fame...

And if you want to see something that messed with my sick head...Check this out...http://theinternetisterrible.com/1565/something-about-this-video-is-off/...

Have a good week...

The Penguins Win....I Think I'm Gonna be Sick!

Well unlike football season...I had no wager on the Stanley Cup Final...And truly I wasn't rooting for either team...I'm a Cleveland guy...I'm not aloud to root for Pittsburgh or Detroit...But when the game got late...And the Pens were up 2-1 I started rooting for the Red Wings....Why? Too many friends in Pittsburgh...Just waiting to bust balls...I'm really gonna hear about this...If the Steelers winning the Super Bowl wasn't enough...Now that Pittsburgh ego will grow even more....Let's hope the Pirates don't turn it around and shock the world...I may have to eat a bullet then!
-
So Congrats Pittsburgh...Once again you've made some of us dolts in Cleveland sick...Hell if I could figure out a way to sell my house in this crappy Cleveland market I would...Get in that special "WITNESS" protection program...You know the one...Where all we've "WITNESSED" is complete failure!
-
Way to go Penguins...It was nice to see Fleury step up...
-
Staal was a stud the entire playoffs...
-
-
Crosby is still a little b!tch...BTW...It was kinda funny seeing Hossa on one knee wondering 'What the hell was I thinking when I left Pittsburgh!?!'

That's all on this topic...I need another drink...
