Monday Moaning

Well.......

What is understood doesn't need to be discussed...Monday is here again...Summer is coming to a close...Football season is around the corner...I have been studying up on my college football, as I'll be doing a weekly post on featured games each week, and who you should be calling you bookie to bet on...I already did my HEISMAN studying...

-But before I start eyeing college football, let's talk a bit of Baseball...In the American league there has been much talk about the surprise Houston Astros and the Angels surging to catch them...There has been plenty of talk about the Yankees...There always is whether they are winning or not...And since the trade deadline, the Baseball world has had a boner for the Toronto Blue Jays...All this has distracted people from a team that has been solid all year, and is getting really hot right now...

The Baltimore Orioles...The Orioles are a half game ahead of the Angels in the Wild Card hunt, and only 4 games out of first in the division...They have decent starting pitching...A strong bullpen...and a solid lineup...Adam Jones and Chris Davis are crushing it...Manny Machado is steady with the glove and the bat...And OF Gerardo Parra may go down as the most overlooked deadline move, as he has taken advantage of getting steady playing time for the O's, batting .357 over his last 30 games...

Yes, Toronto made the sexy, win it now moves...The Orioles were pretty quite and added a couple minor pieces, and just stuck to what they have been doing...And it could end up paying off for them...The biggest question mark for Baltimore is their rotation...Their guys go out there, eat their innings, and try to keep them in games...But they don't have an ace...No one who dominates...That will most likely be their downfall if the get in the playoffs...But watching them fight for their playoff spot is fun...This is a gritty team...

(side note) : Can MLB please test Chris Davis for steroids...I watched him hit a HR Saturday, that was outrageous...The pitch was a slider, low and AWAY...Davis reached with a swing...No lower body in the swing at all...No legs, no nothing!  All wrists and arms, and it was a fucking laser to to right-center...Unreal!

-In I Don't Give a Shit News....Michael Sam has left football to focus on his mental health...Holy fucking shit balls, who knew he was still playing football? Oh wait, he wasn't...He was up in the Canadian Football League, collecting a check from the Montreal Alouettes...Sam had missed their first five games...Made his season debut a week ago, and had no tackles...Sam broke this not shocking at all news via Twitter...

"The last 12 months have been very difficult for me, to the point where I became concerned with my mental health. Because of this I am going to step away from the game at this time. I thank the Alouettes for this opportunity and hope to be back on the field soon,"

Just to be fair...I have no problem that Sam is openly gay and was trying to have a pro-football career...But the biggest reason the last 12 months have been so hard on Michael Sam, is Michael Sam...He kept pushing the narrative about being a gay football player...He kept himself and his story in the spotlight, signing a TV deal for Lifetime or where ever the fuck it was...He put it front and center, and then didn't understand the scrutiny...Let alone many teams didn't want the distraction he was creating...Oh, and besides that, he just wasn't that good.

But as some one who is clearly MENTALLY ILL and trying to get my head right,  I wish him good luck with getting his shit together.

-This week Kate Upton/Sports Illustrated released a video of Kate doing what she does best...Lounging around in a bikini and having her picture taken...Kate and that voice of hers goes on about how she loves tiny bikinis...Well, Kate, we love those tiny bikinis that barely hold your tits in too!

That's all I have for now...Really, do you need anymore?  No, you're going to watch Kate's video again!

Have a week.

The Beeze's 2013 Heisman Preview/Prediction

That right there is Jordan Lynch from Northern Illinois...he finished 7th in the Heisman voting last year...The Huskies QB rushed for 1,815 yards and passed for 3,138 yards with 25 TD's and just 6 INT's while leading his team to a 12-2 record...And he only finished 7th...Proving once again that no matter what a guy does, no matter how good he is, playing in a smaller conference will be held against him...

Just to compare the numbers...Last year's winner, Johnny Manziel rushed for 1,410 and passed for 3,706 yards with 26 TD's and 9 INT's...Those numbers are pretty close between #1 and #7...SO as much as I would love to see a kid from the MAC win, we all know guys with equal or lesser numbers from the Big 12, Big 10, Pac 12, SEC, and ACC will get looked at first...So Lynch will make another strong case for the Heisman, but will be shutout...

Sorry Kent State fans, that includes your guy Dri Archer...Kent loves this kid so much, especially since he stuck around for another year, that they were considering starting a Heisman campaign for him...Archer rushed for 1,429 yards and 16 TD's and added 561 yards and 4 TD's receiving...Archer also tacked on 3 TD's as a return man...

The Favorites this year are Manziel of course...My prediction, he won't even be in New York this year...Either his off field stupidity will get in trouble, or all the distractions along with a big target will lead to a Sophomore slump...

Ohio State's Braxton Miller is at the top of everyone's boards...Without a doubt, Miller is Ohio State's best running back...Problem is, he plays QB...I don't think Miller is a very good QB, but the fact that the Luckeyes have such a week schedule will give Miller and company a great chance of going undefeated, which always helps a Heisman campaign...Buckeye fans I don't want to hear your shit...Your schedule is week...Non-Conference: Buffalo, San Diego State, @ Cal, and Florida A&M...SDS is the toughest one there...Conference: Wisconsin, @ Northwestern, Iowa, PSU, @ Purdue, @ Illinois, Indiana, and @ Michigan...That's cake until Nov. 30th  at Michigan...

Another name getting talk...South Carolina DE, Jadeveon Clowney....Last year Manti Te'o gave defensive fans the first real Heisman hopeful since Charles Woodson...Now Clowney takes the torch...Dude is an animal...Every week last season he was on the highlight shows blowing up running backs and sacking QB's...But will it be enough...Te'o put together a terrific season last year, but anyone who doesn't think a grandmother and an (eventually fake) girlfriend dying just before a game and the whole media swirl that surrounded him (without fact checking) had anything to do with his Heisman run is nuts...Clowney will make plays...He won't win the Heisman...

Had Chip Kelly not jumped to the NFL and the Eagles, Oregon QB Marcus Mariota would have been my guy...Hands down...Throws, runs, playing in a never let up offense...Dude was looking at HUGE numbers...He'll have a good season, and while I don't see new head coach Mark Helfrich changing much of anything, there will still be an adjustment...

AJ McCarron , Alabama QB and Georgia QB Aaron Murray will get some talk, and Murray is looking to put up big numbers, but they'll be on the outside looking in...

Clemson QB Tajh Boyd is my number two guy...

Last year, Boyd passed for 3,896 yards and 36 TD's and 13 INT's...He also rushed for 514 yards and 10 TD's...Clemson brings back a strong team with Boyd, that expects to be in the Championship conversation...The coaching staff was thrilled with the improvements in Boyd's game last year...If he can build on that, he could run away with the whole thing....

While I really like Boyd...I like to be different...So my pick for this year's Heisman is....

Louisville QB, Teddy Bridgewater...Last year as a Sophomore, Bridgewater passed for 3,718 yards and 27 TD's and 8 INT's...Playing in the American Conference, (the shattered remains of the Big East) Bridgewater and the Cardinals will be looking to go undefeated and put up gaudy numbers...The kid has excellent escapability, while not being a "running QB"....A big-time arm, and great vision...

So there it is...What do you think?

The Beeze's College Football Wrap Up

And the winner is............

Johnny Manziel from Texas A&M....Kid has a decent Heisman pose, ain't that right Alabama?

Manziel, made history Saturday night, as he was the first freshman to win the Heisman Trophy....Now it won't come as a shock that I was rooting for Notre Dame's Manti Te'o...But it wasn't just because he plays at Notre Dame...It's because I'd really love to see defense start getting some credit these days...Te'o lead a defense that only allowed 10 TD's this season...But it's always been clear, no matter what kind of defensive numbers get put up, the Heisman is all about offense...

And that said, Manziel definitely put up some big offensive numbers...43 total TD's...19 rushing, and 24 passing...Rushing for 1,181, and passing for 3,419 yards...And while I wanted to see Te'o buck the system for all defensive players...It was good to see a Freshman buck the system...There had been so much talk against Manziel, just because he's a freshman...If he earns it, who cares...This isn't an award based a players career...It's  for each season...

One thing was clear about each of the three finalists...If it isn't for them, their teams aren't sitting where they are...ND doesn't go undefeated without Te'o...Kansas State doesn't lose just 1 game, and wins the Big-12 without Collin Klein...And Texas A&M doesn't walk into the SEC and finish with a 10-2 record, including going to Alabama and rolling the Tide, without Manziel...All 3 deserved the trip to New York...I really wouldn't have been upset about any of these guys winning...And it was great to see a few guys in New York, that no one was expecting to see there....(Well, except for me picking Klein as my dark horse this pre-season)

Te'o did win the Maxwell Award, the Bednarik Award, and the Walter Camp Foundation Player of the Year Award...

-Saturday we also had the Army/Navy game...Pride, and tradition in all of it's glory...Two teams full of young men, who won't be moving on to the NFL...Instead, they'll be moving on to serve our country...Every year my Dad bets Army, since that's the branch he served in...It's the only bet he'll ever make with his heart...And he was hoping to see Army turn things around...Army was looking to break a streak of 10 loses in a row, and were lead by Senior QB, Trent Steelman....

After 3 quarters Army was ahead 13-10...But young Navy QB, Keenan Reynolds drove his team down field late, and scored the go ahead TD...There was under 5 minutes left...Steelman started his team on a 70 yard drive...With time winding down, at the Navy 14 yard line, a hand-off to fullback Larry Dixon, some how, somewhere, went wrong...Dixon fumbled it...Navy recovered it...11 Navy wins in a row...And Steelman took it hard...He was inconsolable after the game...

Honestly, it was hard to watch how broken up this young man was...Even the announcers seemed uncomfortable...

But it was great to see Army in the game...So many in the past few years have been one sided...

-The Cincinnati Bearcats have a new head coach...Tommy Tuberville has left Texas Tech to become the new man in Cincy...Tuberville leaves the Big-12 to go to the Big East?  Or where ever Cincy ends up, because the Big East is just about dead...This should be good for Cincy, since it's been a jumping off point for a number of coaches...Now they have an established guy, who should stick around awhile...This of course was made possible, when Tennessee hired Cincinnati coach Butch Jones...

-The Mount Union Purple Raiders (14-0) are headed to their 8th straight D-3 Championship game...Looking to win their 11th National Championship, they'll face St. Thomas (Minn) Friday, in the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl...Seriously people, this is one of the finest football programs in the country, year in and year out...Support the small divisions that do it right, with a playoff...Watch this game!

That's it...See ya Monday...

Monday Moaning

Well, Monday is here again...And let me tell ya, my Monday is going to suck...Both the Little Beeze and Molly are having dental work done...They're both being put under anesthesia...The boy has a lot of extra nerves in his mouth, and while they were fixing a cavity, he felt everything...They numbed him 4 times, and gave him laughing gas...It was brutal...

And Molly started grinding her teeth as soon as they started coming in...She chipped all for of her top front teeth, and they've been slowly eroding away...Say they are putting her under to fix those...Then afterwards we'll get to deal crankiness, and I'll bet some stomach issues...Which will suck since they aren't allowed to eat or drink anything in the morning beforehand...I just hope it all goes okay...

Then Tuesday, the Little Beeze and his big sister have their first day at their new school...And while the boy's teacher doesn't dress like the teacher above there, but she's alright! I've got all week to get into the morning routine, since I took a week of vacation time...

Onto sports, Saturday night I finally posted my HEISMAN_WATCH...It took me awhile, but I'm finally getting pumped for College Football...

Then there was the news that broke about LANCE_ARMSTRONG...I know plenty of people didn't agree with my view, but I have a hard time thinking a guy who gives up the fight, is innocent...

But there is something in the sports world that was sticking in my head all this weekend...The ESPN networks aired a dozen High School Football games between Friday and Sunday...Now how many times have we heard or read guys on ESPN bitch about how college athletes should get paid to some degree, since the NCAA, and the Universities are making so much money on the backs of these kids...So why is it okay for ESPN to make advertising bucks airing high school games? They're doing the same thing that many of their talking heads have complained about...

Listen, local games have been aired for years...But "The World Wide Leader" showing a dozen games over the weekend, just seems like high school sports are about to get seriously corrupted...

But hell, why am I expecting so much? The fucking History Channel spends more time showing idiot programs about pawn shops, and storage lockers, instead of shit about actual history...And then the second news story Sunday morning, behind hyping up Tropical Storm Isaac, was about that stupid twat Snooki having her awful baby...Christ, there's a kid that was born with two strikes against it!

And about that storm...I was watching the Nightly News and they are talking about it having a chance of hitting New Orleans 7 years to the day that Katrina hit...You could hear the hope, and excitement in their voices...This is like a sick, voyeuristic, news wet dream...It was sickening...I really need to stop expecting so much from the world...

That's it for now...I'm in a shit mood...But pleas give THIS a look for me...

Have a week...

The Beeze's 2012 Heisman Watch

It's easy to say Matt Barkley is your favorite to win the Heisman...But that ain't me...Not just because he's a USC guy...I mean, yeah, that might be a small factor, but it's just lazy...To me, the favorite had to be Montee Ball, up above there...Last year he finished 4th in the voting, and got little love compared to Alabama running back Trent Richardson, even though Ball's numbers blew Richardson's away...Ball rushed for 1,923 yards and 39 TD's last year...He's gotta be on top of the list...

Oh, but then there is that off the field stuff...Ball recently got jumped, and had his ass beat-down by a 4-5 guys...It's been said that it was provoked by something that happened at a party a couple days earlier...We'll see...I expect Ball to put up big numbers again, but I think they'll be down a bit, which will open the race up to others...

What others? Well like I said, Not Matt Barkley...And no, I'm not going with that bastard Denard Robinson, from Michigan...And no, I'm not going Geno Smith from West Virginia...West Virginia isn't going to walk into the Big-12 and roll people over...They're going to find out how weak the Big East they use to play in, was...

I'm telling you to keep your eye on Georgia's QB Aaron Murray...

Murray has all the tools to be an elite college QB...His size, 6-1, 210 lbs. may hold him back at the next level, but he's fine for the college game, throwing for 3,149 yards and 35 TD's last year...But he has to cut down on the14 INT's he threw...

I'll be watching another guy even more closely...Kansas State QB, Collin Klein...

Klein is the dual threat that coach Bill Snyder loves...Last year Klein rushed for more than a 1,000 yards, and passed for just under 2,000...To keep him in Heisman consideration, Kansas State needs to win, and stay in the hunt for the Big-12 title...Which I expect them to...I'm predicting them to finish 2nd or 3rd in the conference...Klein also needs to improve his passing numbers, and get more comfortable in the pocket, which he should be able to do, with strong group of receivers returning...

Then there is this beast in South Carolina...Marcus Lattimore...

Lattimore had rushed for 818 yards, and 10 TD's in the first 6 games and change last year...But then ripped his knee up...It was the second year in row Steve Spurrier relied on Lattimore to carry the offense, and ran the hell out of him...It was also the second year that was ended with an injury...So clearly the key for Lattimore, is staying healthy...Also The Gamecocks have to be competitive in the SEC, and keep Lattimore in the spotlight...

I really think Lattimore can take it, if South Carolina can get themselves in the SEC Championship hunt, and stay healthy...The kid is a beast...And no matter if he wins the Heisman or not, Lattimore will be going pro after this season...

The last guy I'm looking at, some will say he's a reach...Well, why not reach? If Barkley, and some other guys get hurt, or just shit the bed, which we have seen before, there will be other guys doing well, and getting a look...Well, I've been waiting 4 years to see this guy put it all together...

USF QB, B.J. Daniels...

The kid is a real dual-threat...Passing for 2,604 yards and 13 TD's, and rushing for 601 yards and 6 TD's...Daniels has progressed in each of his seasons at USF, and enters this season with the best group of receivers he's had...

Like all Heisman hopefuls, he needs help from his team...I'm predicting the Bulls to take the Big-East crown this season, as they'll have their best defensive unit in years...And with the Big-East losing West Virginia and TCU, the competition is a lot weaker...Louisville will be good...I expect the rest to be pretty average...For my Syracuse friends, you'll see some improvement...

Daniels has the tools, and the team...But will the conference be held against him...Probably...But if he puts up monster numbers, and takes USF to a major bowl, he could get the love...

Who's your Heismane favorite?

The Beeze's Heisman Preview

No B-Dub, I'm not picking your guy to win the Heisman! But the kid was a beast last year...South Carolina's Marcus Lattimore has to get mentioned after rushing for 1,197 yards and 17 touchdowns as a true Freshman last year...The 'Cocks may have to put a bigger load on him this year, unless they can get a QB that can keep his head out of his ass...

Coming out of last season, and heading into this year, Oregon Runningback LaMichael James had to be on the top of everyone's list...

James led the country in rushing with 1,731 yards...The Ducks' Offense has 7 returning starters, three of those on the Offensive line...But a NCAA investigation has been hanging over the program throughout the off-season...James and the entire program may be heading for some sanctions...

Stanford QB, Andrew Luck would have been my guy this year, after passing for 3,338 yards...32 touchdowns...And only 8 interceptions in his Sophomore season...But he lost his head coach, Jim Harbaugh to the San Fransisco 49ers...I have a feeling that Luck may regress slightly this season, but he'll be back next year...

The QB to watch out for...Oklahoma State's Brandon Weeden...

Weeden passed for 4,277 yards last year, and connected for 34 touchdowns...Weeden also has his top receiver, Justin Blackmon, back with him...These two can be a deadly combination...Blackmon had 20 TD receptions last season, and 1,782 yards...

One of the guys I was rooting for last year was Boise State's Kellen Moore...

Moore has put up huge numbers in his time at Boise State, and I think he'll do well again this year, but not Heisman well...Moore lost his top two receivers, and his Offensive Coordinator...

My favorite...The guy I'd love to see win it...

Baylor QB, Robert Griffin...Last year Griffin came back from a major knee injury and proved his doubters wrong by passing for 3,501 yards and 22 touchdowns...

And being the dual-threat that he is, he also rushed for 635 yards, and 8 touchdowns...But the big problem for Griffin is that he plays at Baylor...The Bears need to make some serious noise in the Big-12 if their QB is going to get any national attention...

Of course, all that were mentioned were QB's and RB's...Defense rarely gets any Heisman love...I would be thrilled to see a Manti Te'o (LB, Notre Dame) or a Jared Crick (DT, Nebraska) get some attention, but we all know that won't happen...We'll see...

Later, The Beeze.
