The Beeze's Heisman Preview
Here's your next Heisman winner...Ohio State Running Back, Ezekiel Elliott...Yes, the Heisman has become a QB dominated award...11 of the last 12 winners have been QB's...Elliott, like past Ohio State Heisman winners, Eddie George and Archie Griffin, Elliott will restore college football's faith in a dominating running back...
Last year, the 6'0", 225 running back rushed for 1,878 yards...696 of those he racked up in the last three games...220 yards against Wisconsin in the Big-Ten Championship game...230 yards against #1 Alabama in the playoff game...And then 246 yards against Oregon in the National Championship game...
Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer said, "he's the most underrated back in America. He's the most post-contact-yards guy I've ever been around."
When new Ohio State running backs coach Tony Alford came to Columbus from Notre Dame, he didn't hold back his excitement when asked what it would be like coming from ND to Ohio State..."I don't know, it's pretty easy to drive a Lexus after you've been a Volkswagen."
While many of the talking heads predict that either Buckeyes QB, Cardale Jones, or J.T. Barrett have a good shot at the award, I'm not sold since we haven't seen either put together a full season...Elliott is the key to the offense....
Having the National spotlight on Ohio State will help his chances...
....That is my front-runner...My prediction of who will win...In past years I make you wait until the end for that...But each year since I have done this, I have nailed it, or at the very worst, had two of the finalists in my list of Heisman hopefuls...So here are the other guys to watch...
-USC Quarterback, Cody Kessler...
Kessler had an excellent season last year on an average Trojans team...He threw for 3,826 yards with 39 TD's...He threw just 5 INT's, and had a completion percentage just of 69.7%...The Trojans are coming off probation, and have some solid play-makers for Kessler to get the ball to...He also has a solid O-Line in front of him...The biggest question is if the team has a enough depth if they sustain injuries...
-TCU Quarterback, Trevone Boykin...
He's already working on the pose...Boykin, ran the high-powered, high-tempo, TCU offense almost flawlessly last season...He is THE dual-threat QB, as his numbers from last season prove...3,901 yards passing with 33 TD', with 10 INT's...Adding 707 yards on the ground with another 8 TD's...
Working against Boykin is that he plays at TCU, which doesn't always get the credit it deserves...Also, I'm not sure TCU can win the Big-12...A Baylor squad returning almost everyone may be too much for the Horned Frogs...
-Miss State QB, Dak Prescott....
Prescott got a look last year while his Bulldogs were 9-0...Then they hit a bad skid, and that was it...He will get early season talk, but I don't think he has a much of shot...The SEC won't be surprised by Miss State this year...Also a key factor...the Bulldogs have to replace Prescott's entire O-Line...
His numbers last year were pretty good...They say the SEC plays defense, but clearly they don't...Prescott threw for 3,449 yards with 27 TD's...He rushed for 986 yards and 14 more TD's...
-Georgia RB, Nick Chubb...
As a Freshman Chubb put up 1,547 yards with 14 TD's...A 7.1 yards per carry average is a nice start to a college career...With Todd Gurley gone, the job is all his...Reports have compared his offseason work ethic to Herschel Walker...
-Sleeper:
Auburn QB, Jeremy Johnson...
In limited duty were Johnson saw snaps in 6 games, he completed 28 of 37 passes for 436 yards, 3 TD's, and no INT's...The Auburn coaching staff feels their run-first-spread offense won't miss a beat with Johnson, and feel he will be a bi-time player...Again, this is a guy who will benefit from the SEC's lack of strong defense...You know, that strong defense they all say they have...
-Really long-shot...This is my Dark-horse...
-Notre Dame QB, Malik Zaire...
Zaire was dubbed Notre Dame's "running QB"...After a solid performance against LSU in the Music City Bowl, where he threw for 96 yards, and rushed for 96 yards, putting up a TD via both ground and air, the rumbles started in South Bend...Eventually it became clear during workouts, and Everett Golson transferred to Florida State where right now he is the #3 guy...
Zaire went back to the Elite 11 this year camp as a counselor...When he was a camper there, (then an option QB) he nearly won the competition...Camp coach, Trent Dilfer had high Praise for Zaire watching him work now as a counsler...
Speaking about Zaire's work ethic Dilfer said, “He’s a machine. He’ll go until he dies.”
Here is what Dilfer said when he was asked how Zaire has evolved as a passer?
“He’s so much more advanced as a passer. Not that he wasn’t before, but I remember getting him from high school, and everybody was saying he’s just a runner who can throw a little bit. And anyone who’s still saying that, I think it’s crazy. He is going toe-to-toe with (Penn State quarterback) Christian Hackenberg, (USC quarterback) Cody Kessler, with all of these supposed passers, and he’s ripping it around as good as anybody. I think Malik has the curse like a lot of college quarterbacks these days that they’re so dynamic as runners that they get devalued as passers. But I think Malik is an exceptional passer.”
Yes, I'm a ND fan...But I'm not saying he's going to win...He's just my long-shot...Hey, I hate Ohio State, and I've got Elliot winning the thing...Don't gamble with your heart...Dad taught me that a long time ago...But if the Irish can notch at least 10 wins, Zaire will be a huge reason why, and may actually get some notice...
Feel free to share your thoughts...

Monday Moaning
Well, Christmas is fast approaching...Are you ready...I'm ready for Rosie Jones there to be wrapped up next to my tree!
Megyn Kelly of FOX News has caught some flack for her full throated, not backing down stance, that not only Jesus, but Santa Claus are both white...Now, I never personally got to know these guys, so I can't give a definite answer, but I think comedian Jim Norton summed up the situation best...
"People are mad at Megyn Kelly for saying Jesus and Santa were white,
but not because she mentioned Santa as if he were real?#CountryOfAssholes"
Yeah...People look pretty stupid when they get worked up over a mythical guy like Santa...But I will say this, in my house, Santa is white...I've got the fucking receipts to prove it...And Santa Beeze is all done shopping...The earliest the Mrs. and I have been done...
But if you are looking for something to get me last minute, this would be sweet...
A mid-70's Fender Starcaster....Awesome, and rare...They've put out a reissue recently...I'd take one of those...
Some reviews are saying the reissues actually play better then the original...I'm willing to try it out...Hint, hint Mrs. Beeze!
-Now for some sports nonsense...As expected, sadly, Jameis Winston won the Heisman Trophy...Why do I say sadly? Because Jordan Lynch from NIU was invited, but was an afterthought...And Andrea Williams of Boston College, who had one of the great seasons all time at running back, got no respect at all...While he wasn't on my radar pre-season, or even most of the regular season, he should have won...at least top two finish...
But more so why I have become anti-Winston was his reaction to winning...First, he didn't shake the hands of the other finalists when it was announced...I don't think I've ever seen that...Then during his idiotic, rambling speed about "trusting the process" he never mentioned the other finalists...Could have made up for not shaking their hands...Could have shown so real classiness...But he didn't...Yes, he's the youngest guy to ever win it...I don't care, not an excuse...FSU could have, and should have prepped him a bit about dealing with the media, and with his speech...He came off as a total dolt to me...Now, I'm thinking about rooting for Auburn...
-In other expected college football news...Mack Brown announced he was stepping down as head coach at Texas...We all saw it coming...But when Alabama locked up Saban with an extension, I'm sure some people thought Brown would be safe for at least another year...Yeah, I said safe, after saying he was stepping down...We all know Texas pushed him to that...And he's the type of guy to keep it classy...
-Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly has to retool his staff for next year, let alone work shorthanded in their bowl game, as both Offensive Coordinator, Chuck Martin and Defensive Coordinator, Bob Diaco have left for head coaching gigs...Martin to Miami (Ohio) and Diaco to UConn...
But there is good news for the Irish...Quarterback Everett Golson was readmitted at Notre Dame this week...After getting bounced from the team and the University for academic infractions...He spent most of this past semester living in a one bedroom extended stay apartment in San Diego, working with QB coach George Whitfield...Whitfield has worked with Roethlisberger, Cam Newton, Andrew Luck, and Johnny Manziel...This was the longest Whitfield has worked one-on-one with an "elite" quarterback, working hard to turn Golson into a student of the game....Irish Nation is hoping the work pays off...
I give ND credit for booting their starting QB before the season for screwing up how he did...Many schools wouldn't take that stand...And I give Golson credit for working hard to do what he had to, to get back to Notre Dame...He easily could have transferred, and maybe not learned a thing from what had happened...
-Other Irish news...Notre Dame's men's soccer team won the NCAA National Championship this weekend...I don't follow soccer, and don't care at all...But way to go Irish!
-Sunday, the Cleveland Browns managed to blow another 4th quarter lead, and lost to the Bears...With this type of tank job going on, they better not screw up their draft next year!
-Here at the Beeze house, we had birthday madness this weekend...Our oldest birthday was a couple weeks ago, but with schedules her little sleepover with friends was set back a bit...So the girls came over Friday, had pizza...did the gift thing...Goofed around...Then I took them to the ice rink for open skate...Then it was back here, where they played video games, and wrote a song on the keyboard about a girl they don't like...and whatever else until two in the morning...
That rolled into Molly's birthday on Saturday...So we got the tweens out so we could get things going for the little ones...Molly had a blast...And by 5:00PM, I was wiped out...I can't believe she is 3 already....From this....
To this, way too soon....
Time is flying...
Now for this week's Christmas song...This is Sherwin Sleeves' "Christmas La La Song"...I know some people who can't stand it, but I kind of like it...
Alright...I'm off to a long, busy week at work...Plus mix in Little Beeze's Christmas concert, and our daughter's Christmas band concert...'Tis the season to be busy!
Have a week...

Monday Moaning
Well folks, Football season is upon us...Hell, ESPN aired at least 9 high school football games this weekend...And this week the College season starts, which forced me to get my ass in gear and post my Heisman PREVIEW/PREDICTION...And just to toot my own horn...2 years ago I nailed it with RGIII and last year I went with Colin Klein who finished 3rd in the voting...Not bad...I did leave out a name this year that I do like...UCLA's QB Brett Hundley...Kid passed for 3,740 yards with 29 TD's as a redshirt freshman last year...He looks good, but I don't see him getting the run this year...The PAC-12 is coming down to Oregon and Stanford this year, with Arizona and ASU making a bit of noise...I'm already looking at Hundley for next year...
-Last week I wrote a bit about Notre Dame OLB Danny Spond retiring from football...There was little info as to why...He spoke this past week and explained the situation...What had been causing his migraine issue last year and again in camp does seem to be brought on by the big impact collisions he's had...He is dealing with Hemiplegic migraines, which are a rare form of headaches that show up with temporary stroke-like symptoms...With medication and rehab, doctors feel Spond will be free of long-term consequences...Taking football out of the equation seems to be the logical first step...
-Changing gears to a bit of Hockey news...The NHL and players association agreed to shorten goalie pads for this up coming season...For shorter goalies, it may only result in about an inch of difference...For taller goalies it can mean 5 inches...This could be a big deal...It could not...I think it's another weak attempt by the NHL to get more scoring...Even though we constantly rave, especially in the playoffs, about outstanding goaltending...
Here an example with Craig Anderson's pads...On the right is last year's...The left is this year's...
I particularly like Jean-Sebastien Giguer's comments...“Coaches and GMs, you guys want that, you’ve been asking for more goals [through the] five hole,” Giguere said. “So if your goalie gives up a goal five hole, you need to take a breath and remember that you asked for it.”
You gotta understand his point there...Giguer doesn’t want to see goaltenders getting the blame if this adversely impacts their numbers...Everyone is conspiring against goalies, and not thinking about theirs...
-In local news...Where I coached the Little Beeze and company, there are two baseball fields behind our rec center...Between the fields, there was two toddler swings, and a old school slide...Just a ladder, and slide...So, the long, rainy, poorly organized, no money spent on the fields, season is over...Then the city replaces the swings with two new ones, and adds this...
What the Fuck! Molly gave it a try this weekend...It's bitchin' for little kids like her...But why the fuck did they wait until after the baseball season was over...Now it will sit there all fall and winter, barely used, until Baseball gets kicked up again...That is if enough people sign their kids up, after how poorly the rec ran things this past season...Fucking dolts running this town!
-Now to a heavier topic...This past week there was a 22 year old, white, college baseball player murdered, because, "They were bored"...two of the "they" were black...One had tweeted some racists shit about whites, just before the murder...But the media won't scream hate crime...They refuse to acknowledge race was involved...And Jesse Jackson didn't feel the need to talk tough about this, simply saying, "This senseless violence is frowned upon and the justice system must prevail." Not the same fire we get from Jesse when a white kills a black...
Thankfully there is a black person, in the media, being honest about things...I was relieved to read THIS, and feel it has to be read by as many people as possible...
And Wednesday WWII Veteran Delbert Belton was beaten to death and robbed by two black teens...And honest to God, I have not seen enough coverage about this from the mainstream media...Why am I not shocked that Social Media is what got this story the attention? Why are only certain crimes covered...Why do we hear and see more about white on black crimes, then we do about Black on Black, White on White, or Black on White? Why is race never brought up when it's Black on White? But if it's White on Black, race is the first thing we get...
The fact of the matter is, race shouldn't be or first thought about crimes...I look at this as two punks saw a old man, they could rip off easily...Belton being a REAL MAN, probably stuck up for himself, and that's when they beat the hell out of him with heavy flashlights...Or, they saw an old man they thought they could kill and rob easily...Which just shows how this generation has no respect for life, and no respect for anyone...
All I know is there seems to be a willingness by the media to hold back on black on white crimes, while they seem to want to push a race issue when there is a white on black crime...And there is a disgusting willingness to not speak up for a MAN like Delbert Belton?
-The last thing I have is my annual post about BEVERLY_POTTS...
Have a week...

The Beeze's 2012 Heisman Watch
It's easy to say Matt Barkley is your favorite to win the Heisman...But that ain't me...Not just because he's a USC guy...I mean, yeah, that might be a small factor, but it's just lazy...To me, the favorite had to be Montee Ball, up above there...Last year he finished 4th in the voting, and got little love compared to Alabama running back Trent Richardson, even though Ball's numbers blew Richardson's away...Ball rushed for 1,923 yards and 39 TD's last year...He's gotta be on top of the list...
Oh, but then there is that off the field stuff...Ball recently got jumped, and had his ass beat-down by a 4-5 guys...It's been said that it was provoked by something that happened at a party a couple days earlier...We'll see...I expect Ball to put up big numbers again, but I think they'll be down a bit, which will open the race up to others...
What others? Well like I said, Not Matt Barkley...And no, I'm not going with that bastard Denard Robinson, from Michigan...And no, I'm not going Geno Smith from West Virginia...West Virginia isn't going to walk into the Big-12 and roll people over...They're going to find out how weak the Big East they use to play in, was...
I'm telling you to keep your eye on Georgia's QB Aaron Murray...
Murray has all the tools to be an elite college QB...His size, 6-1, 210 lbs. may hold him back at the next level, but he's fine for the college game, throwing for 3,149 yards and 35 TD's last year...But he has to cut down on the14 INT's he threw...
I'll be watching another guy even more closely...Kansas State QB, Collin Klein...
Klein is the dual threat that coach Bill Snyder loves...Last year Klein rushed for more than a 1,000 yards, and passed for just under 2,000...To keep him in Heisman consideration, Kansas State needs to win, and stay in the hunt for the Big-12 title...Which I expect them to...I'm predicting them to finish 2nd or 3rd in the conference...Klein also needs to improve his passing numbers, and get more comfortable in the pocket, which he should be able to do, with strong group of receivers returning...
Then there is this beast in South Carolina...Marcus Lattimore...
Lattimore had rushed for 818 yards, and 10 TD's in the first 6 games and change last year...But then ripped his knee up...It was the second year in row Steve Spurrier relied on Lattimore to carry the offense, and ran the hell out of him...It was also the second year that was ended with an injury...So clearly the key for Lattimore, is staying healthy...Also The Gamecocks have to be competitive in the SEC, and keep Lattimore in the spotlight...
I really think Lattimore can take it, if South Carolina can get themselves in the SEC Championship hunt, and stay healthy...The kid is a beast...And no matter if he wins the Heisman or not, Lattimore will be going pro after this season...
The last guy I'm looking at, some will say he's a reach...Well, why not reach? If Barkley, and some other guys get hurt, or just shit the bed, which we have seen before, there will be other guys doing well, and getting a look...Well, I've been waiting 4 years to see this guy put it all together...
USF QB, B.J. Daniels...
The kid is a real dual-threat...Passing for 2,604 yards and 13 TD's, and rushing for 601 yards and 6 TD's...Daniels has progressed in each of his seasons at USF, and enters this season with the best group of receivers he's had...
Like all Heisman hopefuls, he needs help from his team...I'm predicting the Bulls to take the Big-East crown this season, as they'll have their best defensive unit in years...And with the Big-East losing West Virginia and TCU, the competition is a lot weaker...Louisville will be good...I expect the rest to be pretty average...For my Syracuse friends, you'll see some improvement...
Daniels has the tools, and the team...But will the conference be held against him...Probably...But if he puts up monster numbers, and takes USF to a major bowl, he could get the love...
Who's your Heismane favorite?

Monday Moaning

Here's another shot of her, all sexed up before Gronk gave her a thrashing!

So a lot happened in the sports world this past week...And the idiotic world of Baseball got things started off Monday when they decided to finally let Ron Santo into the Baseball Hall of Fame, a year after he died...Of course I had plenty to say about THIS...
Then the Los Angeles Angels, who aren't in Los Angeles, gave Albert Pujols (31 supposedly) a ten year 250 million dollar contract...That is an insane amount of money, and an insane amount of years for a guy that has a lot of wear and tear on him already...I think it's stupid, but at least Pujols didn't sign with Miami and their new stupid uniforms...
Then Saturday news broke about NL MVP, RYAN_BRAUN testing positive for steroids...I don't give a shit what he says...Baseball has put itself in a position of, you're guilty until proven innocent...Maybe that's because we have yet to see some one accused of juicing, be found Innocent of it...Fuck him, the fucking cheating cunt that he is!
It's this shit...Stories like these three that push more and more people, including me, away from Baseball...Fuck all of them, they can eat my ass!
But there was good news Saturday night, as I got to TOOT my own horn after Robert Griffin III won the Heisman Trophy...Baylor got their first Heisman winner, and Griffin proved you don't have to be playing for one of the big boys to get some attention...Kid has great skills, and a good head on his shoulders and he deserved it the most...I was glad the invited Montee_Ball from Wisconsin, since his numbers were better then the highly hyped Trent_Richardson...Yeah, if you click the links to those two guys, it goes to their stats...Ball has him beat!
So, the embarrassing Browns were on the NFL Network's Thursday Night game this past week, against former rival, the Pittsburgh Steelers...I say former, because it can't be a rivalry if one team keeps getting their asses whooped each year...This was a boring ass game, but the Browns defense nutted up and kept the team in the game...Just to see Colt McCoy an his merry band of shitty offensive player suck it up some more...Then cheap-shotting, head hunting, James Harrison did this...
I don't care what anyone says, Harrison is a fucking asshole...This isn't a freak thing with him...He does this shit on a continuous basis...Hell he got two Browns players last year in the same quarter...But what do you expect from dolts that come out of Kent read, Kent write, Kent State...
Speaking of Kent State dummies, I decided to mix it up with Josh Cribbs on Twitter after his idiotic post-game tweet...
"JoshCribbs16
We almost pulled off an upset. The boys really Battled 2day ... All I can say is next time we meet, it will be in Cleveland!!!!"
So I responded with this...
TheBeeze34
@JoshCribbs16 "it will be in Cleveland!!!!" SO WHAT! Offense can't produce, and the D is out there busting ass. Almost doesn't count!!!!
He didn't respond to that, so Friday I tweeted this...
TheBeeze34 I unfollowed all Browns players I was following last night...God they suck! @JoshCribbs16 idiotic tweet pushed me over the edge! Whata dolt!
That got his attention...
JoshCribbs16
"@TheBeeze34 Finally thank you..."
TheBeeze34
@JoshCribbs16 Don't flatter yourself, I stopped following you over a year ago, you overpaid hack!
Now unlike many other athletes out there, Cribbs decided to stop before this blew up, knowing how it could turn into a story on Yahoo, about another Football player saying stupid shit on twitter...SO he left it with this...
JoshCribbs16 Josh Cribbs
"@TheBeeze34 Lol God Bless u..."
That kind of annoyed me...I would have respected him if he said FuckYou! But he's a Brown, and we've all seen what pussies they are!
Sunday Jesus Tebow won another game for the Broncos...Okay, this Tebow thing is kind of freaky, and annoying...All these talking heads keep talking about Tebow winning games, and Tebow's winning record...Ummm what the fuck about the Broncos defense that has been cock-strong...I didn't see Tebow out there shutting people down, and making sacks...And it wasn't fucking Tebow kicking 51 yard, game winning field goals...Pleas get off his nuts and start giving the rest of the team some nut-swing!
Thankfully my Sunday wasn't ruined by a Browns game...It was cold here in Cleveland, but the sun was out, so it wasn't too bad...So that meant Molly and I were heading to the park for a little swinging time...We got some in on Thursday too...So far December has been okay weather wise, and we're taking advantage of it...
That's it for now...Have a week...

Toot Toot

It was just back on July 15, when I wrote THIS saying how RGIII was my guy for the Heisman...And if you read my Monday posts for the last few weeks, you saw me banging the drum for my guy!
And then it happened tonight...The "experts" said it wouldn't, but it did...The Beeze was right...Maybe the voters do read some good shit, like my blog, because this years Heisman Trophy winner, was none other than Baylor's Robert Griffin III.

Congrats to Griffin...And Congrats to his teammates, and Baylor University.
Way to go...Thanks for making me look good!

The Beeze's Heisman Preview

Coming out of last season, and heading into this year, Oregon Runningback LaMichael James had to be on the top of everyone's list...
Stanford QB, Andrew Luck would have been my guy this year, after passing for 3,338 yards...32 touchdowns...And only 8 interceptions in his Sophomore season...But he lost his head coach, Jim Harbaugh to the San Fransisco 49ers...I have a feeling that Luck may regress slightly this season, but he'll be back next year...
The QB to watch out for...Oklahoma State's Brandon Weeden...
Weeden passed for 4,277 yards last year, and connected for 34 touchdowns...Weeden also has his top receiver, Justin Blackmon, back with him...These two can be a deadly combination...Blackmon had 20 TD receptions last season, and 1,782 yards...
One of the guys I was rooting for last year was Boise State's Kellen Moore...
Moore has put up huge numbers in his time at Boise State, and I think he'll do well again this year, but not Heisman well...Moore lost his top two receivers, and his Offensive Coordinator...
My favorite...The guy I'd love to see win it...

Of course, all that were mentioned were QB's and RB's...Defense rarely gets any Heisman love...I would be thrilled to see a Manti Te'o (LB, Notre Dame) or a Jared Crick (DT, Nebraska) get some attention, but we all know that won't happen...We'll see...
Later, The Beeze.
