Monday Moaning

It's Memorial Day and I honestly don't feel much like writing...I spent Sunday with Little Beeze and myself both sick...He's really feeling shitty...just wrecked...I could trudge but I was finding myself on the shitter way too often...It was a real bummer because I spent some time Saturday whipping up and awesome slaw for a party friends were having Sunday...We were really looking forward to it, but then the boy got sick...There was talk of our oldest staying with him while we went briefly, she was feeling lazy after having a couple friends sleep over Saturday night, and of course they were up all night...But then my issues started, and the day was kicked in the head....

Yes, spare me the lecture that Memorial day isn't about cookouts and parties...I know, I actually read history books...Nonetheless it is a time when we happen to make time to see people we maybe haven't for awhile, so take a breath...We're hoping the boy will be up for going to the Parade Monday morning in our neighborhood...molls is very excited...

The big news in Cleveland, beside the Cavs, which I have yet to catch that fever, and don't plan on getting it...but the other news broke Saturday morning when the verdict on Officer Brelo came down...What a judge...Dropping the verdict on a Saturday morning, during a holiday weekend...Stellar move if you ask me...People are moving slow Saturday morning...So their protesting game took a hit...Brelo was on trial for shooting and killing too people who had lead police on a 22 mile high speed chase, and then had rammed a police car...There were over a hundred bullets fired, by a bunch of cops, but this poor bastard was the guy thrown on the grenade...Well, he got off...And the judge went into great length and detail explaining why... Personally, here's my view...Mistakes were made...It's easy to say that after the fact...And when a bunch of cops put over 100 bullets in the car, why was one guy taking all the heat? But in my opinion, the most important part of this whole thing is, things wouldn't have gone so badly, and two people wouldn't have died, if these two dolts just would have pulled over...As I heard the two dozen protesters yelling "Hands up don't shoot!" I got really frustrated...These two didn't have their hands up, they were fleeing the police, and then rammed a police car...Then I saw the same phrase hash-tagged all over twitter, so I started tweeting comments ending with #PulloverDontRun...

The local media was very proud of how peaceful Cleveland was, but there were 71 arrests as the day moved into the night and people started acting dumb....They didn't bother to show this...




Yep, people were out enjoying the nice weather, having some dinner, and "protesters" started getting physical, throwing stuff, and spraying random people with pepper spray....Again I'll say it...People will not sympathize with your cause when you act like an asshole...Speak your mind...Have rallies...Protest...Go for it...But when you stop being peaceful, you lost all ground.


-As for sports, the New York Rangers, Tampa Bay Lightning series has been driving me crazy...While Lundqvist is the better goalie, the Lightning look to be the better team...Better speed, better passing, better scoring chances...The Rangers are a defense first team, and when they have the lead, they lay back and play only defense. (except in game 4)...But their defense has been picked apart by great passing and speed in this series...Tampa Bay keeps their foot on the gas the entire game...they play good defense, but they never stop looking for a chance at more offense...The Lightning are up 3-2, and I'm losing the hope I had after game 4...The Rangers were so flat in the third period, I put on M*A*S*H* the movie...Such a great, classic!

I hated when the Rangers traded for old man Martin St. Louis...I hated when they signed even older man Dan Boyle...(you can look up the old blogs and tweets)...And I wasn't please when they traded their first round pick, and top prospect Arizona for Keith Yandle...Everyone said Yandle would be the perfect QB for the power play...He doesn't even play on the top power play unit now...His Defense sucks and his offense is weak...Yeah, he got a goal the other night...The shot was going 6 feet wide, when it hit a Tampa Bay defenseman's leg and deflected in...Dude blows!

-Anyways...I feel like crap...I'm going to lay down...Have a good Memorial Day...Have fun...and if at some point you forget what the day is about, sit in front of the TV and put on "Band of Brothers" or "The Pacific" or "Hamburger Hill" and then maybe it will come back to you,  just how lucky we are to live in a country where people (right or wrong) can protest, and the brave few are why.

Welcome to another Monday...This Monday being Memorial Day...Yes, Memorial Day...And just for the record everyone on Twitter, and Facebook, there's no need to post your "Memorial Day isn't just about cookouts, ballgames, and parties" comment...I KNOW....I took history classes in college just for fucking fun!  Here's a Memorial Day fun fact for ya....

Memorial Day was started by former slaves on May, 1, 1865 in Charleston, SC to honor 257 dead Union Soldiers who had been buried in a mass grave in a Confederate prison camp. They dug up the bodies and worked for 2 weeks ...
to give them a proper burial as gratitude for fighting for their freedom. They then held a parade of 10,000 people led by 2,800 Black children where they marched, sang and celebrated.

 As for sports...The NHL schedule makers have decided to make my life miserable, as everyone of the Rangers playoff games seem to be on nights I work...While their off days fall on my days off...For example the Rangers and Habs played Thursday...Then the NHL gave them Friday and Saturday off...Which shockingly were my days off this week...What the hell is that...They don't need two days off...I do, but I'm not millions like they are! Then they played again Sunday...While I was working...They get back at Tuesday...While I'm working...

We spent a portion of Saturday cleaning out our basement, as the foundation work, and basement reno starts Tuesday morning...The rest of the house is quite crowded now, and will be for two weeks...I hope the weather is nice...I plan on Molls, Finnegan and I spending a lot of time at the park...Speaking of my little girl, I've realized I haven't popped her face in a blog in awhile...Here she is this past Saturday...

-I did find some excitement on Twitter when I wished harm on Canadiens forward, Daniel Briere...This past week, Briere's teammate Brandon Prust, took a late, cheap-shot at the head of Rangers center, Derek Stepan...It broke Stepan's jaw, and he had surgery Friday, (a plate had to place in there)...Briere comment that it seemed fishy, that the Rangers were playing games...Dude had a broken jaw...How the fuck is that fishy...Why would you have your top center miss at least one game and get surgery as a gamesmanship tactic...I have grown to hate every Montreal Canadiens player and coach...Their idiot coach just won't shut up...Oh, hey boys...Your now down 3-1 after the Rangers OT win Sunday night...You know what...Keep talking shit, and keep losing!

So yeah, I called for harm to Briere, and my twitter blew up...Many people retweeted it, and favorite it...Many got mad at me...Including some so-called Rangers fans...I don't care...Fuck them...Briere is a twat, just like all those diving, crying twats on that team...But the one guy coming at me the most was a dick-bag from Boston who on his profile quotes Milan Lucic's "I'm going to fucking kill you next year!"  When I called him out on this including the #TwitterCunts which I hope takes off, he went silent with me...Typical!

I also found this while I was playing with the puppets on Twitter...Gave this old goalie a chuckle...

Happy Memorial day! Enjoy your parties...Enjoy your cookouts...Enjoy your parades...And then remember why you're doing these things...

We've been going through a string of Questions of the Day about the all-time greats of Baseball...When we talked pitcher, no one, except me brought up Bob Feller...

People accept Feller as a great, but he often gets over looked for how great he was...Why? Because on December 9, 1941, two days after Pearl Harbor, Feller enlisted in the Navy...It was as he was hitting the prime of his career...Feller was selected to the American League All-Star Team in each of the four seasons, before he enlisted, with a 93-44 record...He averaged 245 strikeouts per season and 23 complete games...His service time cost him about four seasons...Which would roughly have been another 75 wins...Add that to the 266 he ended his career with...WOW! 3 no-hitters! 36 complete games in the 1946 season...that's 36 complete games in a season...That is something unheard of in my lifetime...

As for his military service...Feller won 8 Battle Stars as an Anti-Aircraft Gunner...And never regretted losing almost 4 years of his baseball prime...Sounds like an All-time great to me!

-Saturday My New York Rangers lost to the Boston Bruins, ending the season for my guys...I'll be rooting for the Bruins to take out Sid the Skid and the rest of the Shittsburgh Penguins...Pens fans feel cocky...Watch it...Boston rolls 4 tough lines...Their 4th line is better then most 3rd lines...The big man on the blue line, Chara gets all the love, but if you paid attention to this past series, you saw McQuaid, Boychuck, and the rookie, Krug are all outstanding D-men....

-I had no intention of writing anything College Football related, but Saturday night Twitter blew up with news that Notre Dame QB Everrett Golson was no longer enrolled at the University...It was then confirmed by ND officials but the reason why was not released...There were rumbles about it being Academic reasons, or code of conduct violations...But nothing for sure...

Then Sunday, Golson released this statement...

I have been informed by the University of Notre Dame that due to my poor academic judgment that I have been suspended from the University for the 2013 Fall Term.

... I take full responsibility for my poor choices and will do all that is asked of me to regain the trust of my family, friends, teammates, coaches and the entire Notre Dame community.

I chose to attend Notre Dame because of its mission to develop me both on and off the football field.

My parents and the community I grew up in have instilled values in me that have and will continue to allow me to be successful in the future. I know there are plenty of Notre Dame haters out there...Fine...But this right here shows why Notre Dame is an elite University first, and football and everything else comes after...Find me another major program trying to build off of a National Championship game appearance, that had highly tauted (RS)Freshman QB (Gunner Kiel) transfer, that would suspend/boot their starting QB....I doubt you'd find any...

So what's next...Tommy Rees is the front runner...Andrew Hendrix is the more mobile, but has seen limited time...And there is Freshman Malik Zaire who was an early enrollee...Should be interesting...

On the funnier side of this story...Oaks Christian High School junior QB, Brandon Dawkins was out on Twitter trying to get in touch with Coach Brian Kelly to commit...Gotta like an opportunistic kid!

-Saturday morning we had another good baseball practice...Kids are coming along...Now if the rec could get their shit together, and get us schedules and uniforms, that would be great...After the morning practice Little Beeze and I grabbed some coffee and donuts from Dunkin' (coffee wasn't for him)...We picked up Molls and went to the park for a couple hours while my wife and oldest daughter went downtown to check out some of the Captain America 2 filming...The didn't see any stars...Some stunt men, a big shootout scene, and some explosions...

I'm glad Cleveland is getting this little surge to it's economy...But with all the streets and major road closings this filming is causing, on top of all the construction, I'm really glad I don't work downtown...I wonder if this is having a negative effect on the businesses down there...

-If anyone is interested, Monday Duke and Syracuse will play for the NCAA Lacrosse National Championship...who do you have?

-Sunday was the big tradition of the Indy 500...I haven't watched this since I was a kid...But I did see the highlights...I don't call them that, the talking heads on TV do...I don't follow auto racing but a race ending under the caution flag, could be one of the most anti-climactic things ever...Not a highlight at all...Just a letdown...

Happy Memorial Day...Isn't it stupid of us to say "Happy Memorial Day?" I mean, it's a day celebrating those who gave their lives for our country...Why should we be so happy? We go to parades...We fire up the grill, drink beers maybe check out the baseball, and we're over-joyed to not be at work...Yeah, I guess it would suck if we spent all day moping around a cemetery...I guess me and my high-horse are saying, take a few minutes and remember why the hell you aren't at work today...

Now on with our regularly scheduled blog...So far this weekend has been crazy for me...I'm writing this at 10:30 PM Sunday, and all I want to do is sleep...We had to go into Erie, PA Saturday to check on some things with my Father-in-law...I won't get into it all, but he's losing his marbles...During the afternoon, my in laws were all fired up about us taking the kids to a Russian Festival at a local church...Okay, so we get there and all it is, is a bunch of old people listening to people singing in Russian, and some Russian food...Nothing fun for kids to do, except joining their father in a classic, 'U-S-A-U-S-A-U-S-A' chant!

Saturday night we did get to hook up with some friends and check out some Double-A baseball, As the Akron Aeros (Indians) traveled to take on the Erie Seawolves (Tigers)...Erie won 7-3...But more importantly, the kids had fun, and were well behaved...Even over-tired, Molly was there busting a move to "YMCA"...The little Beeze got restless, but that happens when he's tired, and his Allergies are flared up...And they were big time...

When we got back to the in laws, it was way past bedtime...Molly was a bit thrown off about her bedtime surroundings, so I stole my oldest daughters ipod touch and got into the Molly play-list...I've set her up with some good tunes...Most 17 month old kids aren't this cool...She likes Coltrane, Portishead, Damien Rice, and Paul Westerberg a lot...But the first one on there was Billy_the_Kid...And it was Billy that got her to relax and comfortably doze off...

Here's a tune Billy wrote about a guy who was a foster kid, and when he was 18 not knowing what to do or where to go with his life, he signed up to serve in the military...10 years or so later and he keeps going "Back in the Sand."




Sunday morning I took the kids to a park for awhile, then we hit a local Candy store-Ice Cream shop-and Coffee shop...What the hell...Just an evil combination for my fat ass, let alone my sugar loving kids!

Later in the afternoon we headed back home...Then we went to a Memorial Day weekend party at one of our friends house...Like I said at the time...Party just sounds odd to me...But it was great seeing a number of friends...My one buddy from high school and I were just shaking our heads at all the little kids, and the fact that we were responsible for 3 each...Seems crazy sometimes when you think about it...

-In sports...Well, I'm not happy...My New York Rangers lost game 6 Friday night to the New Jersey Devils...That pissed me off enough, but then there were dummies on Twitter...Dummies like ESPN's Mike Greenberg, who was one of many who called the game revenge for the Rangers beating the Devils in 1994...SO I of course had to respond...

"@Espngreeny really, the 3 Cups they won after '94 weren't revenge...You know nothing about Hockey...Shut the hell up!"

"@Espngreeny Your stupid network doesn't even cover Hockey...Be quiet you gash!"

Seriously, revenge...Brodeur is the only Devil left from back then...And there is no one left on the Rangers...How the fuck is it revenge...Like I said, the 3 cups the Devils won after '94 probably made up for it...Fuck stains!

-As for the Stanley Cup Finals, I can't root for the Devils...And I'd feel dirty rooting for the LA Kings...SO I'll sit back and just try to enjoy the hockey...Although with as hot as LA has been, including the stellar play of their goalie Johnathan Quick, I think the Kings will take it...

-Have you heard about Curt Schillings shitty video game company...First he jerked around people in Massachusetts, and got a sweat deal to move to Rhode Island, which included a $75 million loan from the state...Well, 38 Studios (the company's name) couldn't make their $1.25 million payment last week...And their staff hadn't been paid since the end of April...Well, Thursday the entire staff of 379 people were laid off, and lost their health benefits...Somehow I bet ya, Curt and his bloody sock will come out of this okay...Shady fucker will find some way to beat the system, while the little guy, his employees, and the taxpayers will be getting deep dicked!

Today we celebrate Memorial Day...A day we honor men and women, who are much braver than I'll ever be...We honor them for their service to our country...It's because of them, that I can write a blog, that begins with a lovely lady teasing us with a bit of side-boob!

So far my Memorial Day weekend hasn't been very exciting...Saturday I knocked out a double at The Fish House...Then I knocked back a few Sam Adams...Then I had to deal with a 5 month old who didn't want to sleep...Luckily, the wife let me get a few extra hours of sleep Sunday morning...

Thank God, because then I had to rush around to get yard work done, before it started to rain again...Yes, the weathermen in the Cleve promised perfect weather for the weekend...So just after the grass was cut, and the hedges and bushes were trimmed, the rain started again...

So, I'm expecting nothing but solid rain for Monday's big parade that the kids are in...Can't wait!

I have to say, I'm having trouble coming up with any sports shit to write about...Wednesday I gave ESPN a bit of a BEATING...Then, Friday I made my stand for all BLOGGERS...

Then of course there is the Stanley Cup Finals...The match up is set...Boston vs. Vancouver...I'm rooting for the Bruins, but this is gonna be a tough battle...Vancouver has plenty of firepower, and a strong blueline...Yes Luongo is a good goalie...But I'll always thing he's overrated, and I'm still waiting for him to choke...

The Bruins have to grind out every point they get...Tim Thomas has proven all year, that he can win games on his own, but he'll need help from his defensemen in this series...The Bruins are a better team when they are playing with a lead, so their offense has to get out to good starts...I expect to see 7 games in this series...Sadly, thanks to the NHL and NBC, we have to wait until Wednesday for the puck to drop...Too much time between games!

Now before I go...When you're at your local parade, or watching the ballgame, while the grill is fired up...Be sure to remember why we have the day off...And what was given up so that we can do what we do...

Monday Moaning

This week we'll start where we should...It's Memorial Day, and the only reason many of us aren't at work, and taking the kids to a parade, and firing up the grill, and knocking back some beers with friends and family, is because of the brave men and women who have served our country, and far too many lost their lives...So take a moment to stop and think of them...Think of their families that don't get to spend this day with them...And be thankful for the life you have...If you see a veteran, shake their hand, let them know you're thankful...

I want to share a clip from the show, "The West Wing"...Martin Sheen had better speech writers then anyone...While the storyline doesn't have anything to do with Memorial Day, I think it works anyways, and it fits where we are as a country...



Now, I will move on to much less important things...First, Phillies, pitcher Roy Halladay threw the 20th perfect game in MLB history on Saturday night, as the Phillies beat the Marlins 1-0...Gotta suck if you're Marlins pitcher Josh Johnson, who pitched seven innings, with 6 strikeouts, and 0 earned runs...Oddly, I don't give a shit about Halladay's perfect game...Maybe because it was Hallady, and he's a great pitcher...When Dallas Braden did it just a couple weeks ago, it was exciting, it was fun, and it was against a really good team (Tampa Bay)...Maybe it's just 'cause I hate Philly!

Speaking of Philly, Saturday Night the Stanley Cup Finals started...In the battle which goalie could suck more...Philly won that part, as the Chicago Blackhawks beat the Flyers 6-5...For years now the NHL has been trying to get the goal scoring up...This series may be the marketing gold they've been looking for, because neither of these two teams wanted to play defense Saturday...The rest of the series should be interesting...

In our HOLY F**KING SHIT MOMENT of the week, we have Indians pitcher David Huff, taking an A-Roid line drive off the head...



The ball went off his head and into right field! Indians 1st baseman Matt Laporta said, "I panicked, I didn't know if I should go for him or the ball."
Surprisingly Huff is okay...He was released from the Hospital the same day...Cat scans were negative...

In the NBA, the Finals have been set...The Celtics and the Lakers...The league's second choice, after LeBron and the Cavaliers shit the bed...Predictions have started, and I'll go with this one I saw on twitter...

This leads to my next topic...I've been enjoying twitter this week...All the celebrity douche bags come out of the woodwork when some one dies...And they were going strong when the news of Gary Coleman's passing broke...The douche-baggery was making me sick, until I saw, Opie from the Opie & Anthony Show just blasting these dolts...He's been beating on Ashton Kutcher all week for his douche bag tweets, but Friday he was killing it!

Sadly Gary got upstaged Saturday by Denis Hopper...But don't worry big guy, that's the only mention I'll give that old hippy!

Okay, enough of the twitter nonsense...

After finding out we were going to have another child I started doing some serious thinking...This wasn't in the plans...We're kinda restarting with this baby thing...I was looking to get some perspective...So I pulled out a couple of old books...

The first was "On the Road" by Jack Kerouac...I don't know why, maybe just because some people love this book, and some people hate it...The first time I tried to read it, I was bored and thought it was crap, and never finished it...I thought, 'why not give it another try?' I get why people like it, and I get why people don't...I'm still undecided...That's because I was also mixing in, "The Expectant Father"...Essential reading for a new dad, and I felt I may need a refresher course...

Then I got Jay Mohr's "No Wonder My Parents Drank"...The wife had pre-ordered it months ago, before we even knew about this new bundle of joy...I have to say, it's Jay Mohr's book that seems to be helping the most...Yeah, he's famous, but he's a regular guy...They way he writes about being a father, is how I feel...Thoughts he's had, I've had...I'll be honest, I've been trying to make myself feel good about this...Push myself to be excited...Now, after only half of Mohr's book, I am excited...And I feel like I can do even better with this kid...How can I do worse then I have with the little Beeze...Kid copying every swear word I say, running around with his pants down, describing his little boner, "Look at my pee pee...It's huge!" Third time's a charm, RIGHT?

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY!!! I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday weekend...I know I am, as I write this with a solid buzz...So who knows where the hell this is gonna go...

That said...I hope we all take the time to remember why we have this holiday...And why assholes like me can sit here buzzed up writing a blog about whatever the hell I want...It's because of the brave souls who gave their lives for this country and our freedom...And while we're at it...Let's not forget the brave souls who are putting their lives on the line every day for our country...If you see a veteran...Say thanks!

I'm sure I'll be seeing plenty in the morning...Every year the Beeze family goes to the small parade our little community has...The kids love it...People throwing candy at them...Fire trucks blaring their horns and sirens...Old cars...Kids on decorated bikes...and still plenty of proud veterans...Oh,and don't forget the douche bag politicians trying to get your vote with a smile and a handshake...

Then of course we will be firing up the grill and cooking all kinds of good stuff...Knocking down some beers, and listening to the Indians as they try to find new and creative ways to lose...

The other series...Chicago and Detroit has been a solid battle...Detroit is up 3-1, but I the 'Hawks have shown some fight...And what is it about Chris Osgood...This guy put together an average season...Then the playoffs start, and he's been a stud...

But the hot topic in this series has been Nicklas Kronwall's hit on Martin Havlat...In my opinion it was a clean hit...and Kronwall even trie dto pull up a bit at the end...But what really pissed me off was, Blackhawks defenseman Brian Campbell saying the hit was gutless...REALLY? WTF!?! Listen you Overpaid, Overrated, C*NT...It was clean...Just as the hit you blew up RJ Umberger with a couple years ago was clean...Check it out....

Moving on...There has been something bothering me for some time now...I think it's clear I hate the PC Police...I'm so sick of all the Political Correctness these days, that I could puke in my soup...Recently the University of North Dakota voted (caved in) to change their nickname and logo...

I always loved the Fighting Sioux logo...And it has never been intended to offend anyone...It was to honor...Just as the Cleveland Indians were named for a native American baseball player...

To me the Fighting Sioux logo doesn't seem offensive...Maybe you drop the "fighting" from the nickname...But hey...I'm Irish...You don't here me bitching about Notre Dame's nickname being the Fighting Irish...

And about the Cleveland Indians...Every year we hear about people who want to get rid of Chief Wahoo...They say the big smiling red face Indian is offensive...

Well if it looked like that...I could go along with ya...But it doesn't...It looks like this...
