Getting In the Mood (vol. 12)

Christmas has come and yes, it ended up being a white Christmas. Very white. Snow started falling here on Christmas Eve around 5:30 PM and as I post this at 11:30 PM Christmas night it hasn't stopped. Right now we are getting 2 inches of snow a hour. Luckily it's 2020-COVID times and we don't have to go anywhere, so tomorrow will be filled with watching Movies/Shows, playing games, eating and relaxing.

As for my mood, the snow falling helped last night, along with our traditional Christmas Eve snacks, watching Christmas movies, a couple Holiday Beers and then doing my job as Santa. Setting up the presents under the tree, a surprise gift for my wife, filling the stockings, moving the Elves, (we have three Elf on the Shelf with three Elf pets) eating the cookies, drinking the milk, putting the carrots for the Reindeer back in the fridge. I put our big dog to bed, the little one followed me up to bed, snuggled with me as I softly put on Christmas music to fall asleep to. I was feeling very Christmassy.

Morning came quickly, and we gathered  around the tree to open presents. "A Christmas Story playing on the TV in the background. The kids were very happy. They all still have another present coming. Each of the kids have a gift stuck somewhere in transit as FedEx, UPS, and the USPS have all gotten slammed even harder this holiday season. The dogs were happy. The wife was happy, as was I.

We ate early. I made Ham and Lamb Chops with a couple sides. My wife baked homemade rolls and I made a whipped Honey Butter to have with them. The wife and I snuck off for a quickie.  We watched "Wonder Woman 1984." It was a great day. We are very lucky. I won't get into the bad news of the day or the politics and crap that has gone on. I turned much of that off today. But it reminds me, I'm lucky. My family is lucky.

Today's song is an easy one. It was popping in my head all day. I felt it all day. I felt good, all day. "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year."

Good ole, Andy Williams.

Here's a bonus song for you. "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" from Birdy. I hope you do. It's 2020 and all screwed up, Christmas doesn't have to end tonight. Enjoy how ever you can, as long as you can.

Merry Christmas!

Happy New Year...I Guess!

I hope the holiday season has treated you all well...I hope many Merry Christmases were had and wonderful New Years celebrations as well...I hope your trees were trimmed as nicely as the one above...And I hope all you Santa's out there were treated the way we all should be....

I had a good Christmas, that was chaotic...Working third shift on at a new job...getting by on limited sleep...Running my Mother-in-law to visit my Father-in-law at the Nursing Home we had to put him in...Dealing with the day to day stuff with the household and eh kids...And all that craziness of being Santa...It barely felt like Christmas...it just felt hectic...But in the end, the family was happy and that's all that matters....

As for my writing and sports...I have been an absent as a writer and a site owner...I have watched no sports...I have zero fucks to give about sports lately...I have watched literally no college football bowl games...Zero, zip, none...I will however be sitting down shortly to watch Notre Dame and Ohio State play...I will be jumping of course to the NHL's "Winter Classic"...I don't know that I will be writing about these events...Hell, this is the first time I have opened my laptop to write in a couple weeks...It's only been used for Molly to play Club Penguin with big brother...

I heard about Peyton Manning, and I saw some people going off via facebook about how differently the media has covered his possible cheating as opposed to how they covered Brady and the Patriots...Anyone cheating or trying to cheat in sports does not surprise me...I've just come to except it...A large number of people in our society are always looking for an angle, and a way to get by or cheat the system...A large number of people are assholes!

Bill Cosby was finally rung up on charges for being a piece of shit...Possibly a rapist (allegedly)....He's done enough bits about Spanish Fly over his career, or the Cosby Show episode where his BBQ sauce made everyone horny, plus what he has said in depositions, that pretty much make it clear that he is all about drugging women to so he can do whatever freaky shit he wants to them...Another asshole working an angle!

Then we have our field of lying, cheating, self promoting, fear-mongering, gas-bag, criminal fucks who are running for President...What a sad state of affairs we are in when this steaming pile holds our options for the next President...

It might be a new year, but it's starting out looking like the same old shit...My suggestion for having a "Happy New Year"....Turn off all this noise...Don't watch political shows on TV...Watch shit that makes you laugh, and smile...Watch shows and movies that excite you or make you cry...Watch something that makes you think, as opposed certain agendas crammed down your throat via soundbites...

Watch sports and enjoy the purity of the games...Don't watch 2 hours of pre and post game coverage that muddle up the game with bullshit...Don't let some weasel tell you it's a real serious story because "Sources say"...Tell me the sources name and that they are real, or fuck off...

Listen to music...Listen to lots of music...All kinds...Good music...

Enjoy your family and friends...Sit down to a good dinner, and don't let any phones out at the table...Engage in real conversation...Texts and tweets are overrated and limit us all...Talk and listen...

That's my Happy New Year to you!

Monday Moaning

Are you ready for the Holiday season!?!

I spent Saturday getting the Christmas tree up, decorated, then the outside lights...Yep, I'm already over it...Oh wait...We haven't bought a single gift for anyone...Where the hell is Santa when you need his fat ass!?!

Santa....What the hell...The Santa question was finally asked in our house...Our oldest turned 13 last week, and Friday asked my wife about the fat man...My wife, be a softy, and not wanting to admit to our children growing up, continued to try to push the myth...Our oldest is smart, and kinda knew the truth, but she's a very sweet, innocent  soul, and wanted to believe...So when I got home from work, I had to have the talk with her...Including, the part where she isn't allowed to blow our cover to the other two....I put a positive spin on it, and how the idea of Santa brings so much happieness, and can bring the best out in people, and so on...She took it well...I could tell she was upset, but she's okay...It was tougher on my wife, who was making smart ass comments in front of her the next day about what a jerk I was for not believing...

So, college football set the 4 team playoff...Not shocking that Alabama is in...FSU ran the table, can't screw them, even if they a bunch of criminal fucking assholes...Oregon got in...They're bad-ass and never afraid to play anyone...and then Ohio State, with a 3rd string QB destroyed Wisconsin in the Big-10 Championship game, saving this whole system from what was going to be a major controversy...TCU and Baylor...The polls kept ranking TCU ahead of Baylor, even though Baylor had beaten them straight up...Suddenly it was easy to just jump Ohio State ahead...It also helps that Luckeye fans have proven that they travel well, 'cause we all know money is always going to be a factor...Since I hate Alabama, and FSU, and Ohio State, I'll bee pulling for the Ducks...But the 'Bama OSU matchup should be a good game...We'll see...

Now, I touched on this shit last week, or the week before, or both...All you protesters, while many are being peaceful, and I respect your right to assemble, and all that happy horse shit, IT'S ILLEGAL TO BLOCK TRAFFIC...Yes, it's against the law for you fuck-tards to shut down highways, and bridges and tunnels...Nothing will make me more happy when a mayor finally gets tired of this shit, and gives the order to turn the fire hoses on you fuckheads...Just wait until and ambulance can't get through and some one dies...Manslaughter charges for all you dickheads...

And another tip...If you don't want to get physically taken down by the police, listen to them...Don't resist arrest...You'll actually stand a better chance in court if you don't resist...If you listen, and don't act like an ass, they're more likely to listen to your side as well...want to act like ass, resist, well maybe you get choked out...

Sadly, the hands up shit hasn't stopped yet, but then again, neither did it's martyr, Mike Brown!  But now we have people laying down and saying they can't breathe...You know what would make things better...If you dolts went to work and contributed to the economy...

I find it humorous how we are getting bombarded with stories of white police shooting, hurting or killing black people...But nothing is being said about the constant black on black crime that goes on everyday in this country...Go to Chicago for a week...It's fucking constant black on black carnage...Checkout Detroit...And I haven't mentioned the hate crimes that take place everywhere that are black on white...Those get hushed up, but they happen everyday...

I'm not trying to make this about race...I'm just pointing out the fact that awful shit happens everyday to everyone, not just you...I don't think we should be looking at just police, or black people, or white people...We should be looking at all of ourselves, because we have become a very violent, uncaring society, and I fear for my children's future...

That's enough of my sermon...

Have a week...

The Beeze.

Monday Moaning

Well, Christmas is fast approaching...Are you ready...I'm ready for Rosie Jones there to be wrapped up next to my tree!

Megyn Kelly of FOX News has caught some flack for her full throated, not backing down stance, that not only Jesus, but Santa Claus are both white...Now, I never personally got to know these guys, so I can't give a definite answer, but I think comedian Jim Norton summed up the situation best...

"People are mad at Megyn Kelly for saying Jesus and Santa were white,
but not because she mentioned Santa as if he were real?
#CountryOfAssholes"

Yeah...People look pretty stupid when they get worked up over a mythical guy like Santa...But I will say this, in my house, Santa is white...I've got the fucking receipts to prove it...And Santa Beeze is all done shopping...The earliest the Mrs. and I have been done...

But if you are looking for something to get me last minute, this would be sweet...

A mid-70's Fender Starcaster....Awesome, and rare...They've put out a reissue recently...I'd take one of those...

Some reviews are saying the reissues actually play better then the original...I'm willing to try it out...Hint, hint Mrs. Beeze!

-Now for some sports nonsense...As expected, sadly, Jameis Winston won the Heisman Trophy...Why do I say sadly?  Because Jordan Lynch from NIU was invited, but was an afterthought...And Andrea Williams of Boston College, who had one of the great seasons all time at running back, got no respect at all...While he wasn't on my radar pre-season, or even most of the regular season, he should have won...at least top two finish...

But more so why I have become anti-Winston was his reaction to winning...First, he didn't shake the hands of the other finalists when it was announced...I don't think I've ever seen that...Then during his idiotic, rambling speed about "trusting the process" he never mentioned the other finalists...Could have made up for not shaking their hands...Could have shown so real classiness...But he didn't...Yes, he's the youngest guy to ever win it...I don't care, not an excuse...FSU could have, and should have prepped him a bit about dealing with the media, and with his speech...He came off as a total dolt to me...Now, I'm thinking about rooting for Auburn...

-In other expected college football news...Mack Brown announced he was stepping down as head coach at Texas...We all saw it coming...But when Alabama locked up Saban with an extension, I'm sure some people thought Brown would be safe for at least another year...Yeah, I said safe, after saying he was stepping down...We all know Texas pushed him to that...And he's the type of guy to keep it classy...

-Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly has to retool his staff for next year, let alone work shorthanded in their bowl game, as both Offensive Coordinator, Chuck Martin and Defensive Coordinator, Bob Diaco have left for head coaching gigs...Martin to Miami (Ohio) and Diaco to UConn...

But there is good news for the Irish...Quarterback Everett Golson was readmitted at Notre Dame this week...After getting bounced from the team and the University for academic infractions...He spent most of this past semester living in a one bedroom extended stay apartment in San Diego, working with QB coach George Whitfield...Whitfield has worked with Roethlisberger, Cam Newton, Andrew Luck, and Johnny Manziel...This was the longest Whitfield has worked one-on-one with an "elite" quarterback, working  hard to turn Golson into a student of the game....Irish Nation is hoping the work pays off...

I give ND credit for booting their starting QB before the season for screwing up how he did...Many schools wouldn't take that stand...And I give Golson credit for working hard to do what he had to, to get back to Notre Dame...He easily could have transferred, and maybe not learned a thing from what had happened...

-Other Irish news...Notre Dame's men's soccer team won the NCAA National Championship this weekend...I don't follow soccer, and don't care at all...But way to go Irish!

-Sunday, the Cleveland Browns managed to blow another 4th quarter lead, and lost to the Bears...With this type of tank job going on, they better not screw up their draft next year!

-Here at the Beeze house, we had birthday madness this weekend...Our oldest birthday was a couple weeks ago, but with schedules her little sleepover with friends was set back a bit...So the girls came over Friday, had pizza...did the gift thing...Goofed around...Then I took them to the ice rink for open skate...Then it was back here, where they played video games, and wrote a song on the keyboard about a girl they don't like...and whatever else until two in the morning...

That rolled into Molly's birthday on Saturday...So we got the tweens out so we could get things going for the little ones...Molly had a blast...And by 5:00PM, I was wiped out...I can't believe she is 3 already....From this....

To this, way too soon....

Time is flying...

Now for this week's Christmas song...This is Sherwin Sleeves' "Christmas La La Song"...I know some people who can't stand it, but I kind of like it...

Alright...I'm off to a long, busy week at work...Plus mix in Little Beeze's Christmas concert, and our daughter's Christmas band concert...'Tis the season to be busy!

Have a week...

The Beeze.

Merry Christmas From The Beeze

I'm sitting here in Cleveland, dreaming of a white Christmas, that won't be coming...The weather being completely messed up this year, has Cleveland feeling like Seattle...It's rained all week long, with high temps in the upper 40's and low 50's...It feels odd to me, and it's throwing my Holiday spirit off...But I keep pushing on...

Wednesday I took the kids to the mall to pick up another gift or two for the Mrs....On the way there, Little Beeze asked if there would be girls there...I said, "At the mall? Of course there will." He said, "Good, I hope there are lots of hot girls there!" That's my boy...7 years old and cock-strong! Well in case they weren't at the mall, we know they'll be at the top of my blog!

Now all the shopping is done...The wrapping, just about done...Stuff is hidden...There is still plenty of cooking and cleaning to do before our little Christmas Eve party...Between, work, the kids, and getting ready for Christmas Eve, and Christmas day, it's been crazy...And then in a flash, it's all over...All this work, and stress, and poof, it's over...

But there are the memories...I'm sure little Beeze and Molly, will give us plenty to smile about, while our oldest looks like she will give into peer pressure, and be done with the whole Santa thing...Especially since Santa said fuck no to the Dog she wants and the $150 doll she wants...A fucking doll to sit on a shelf, and collect dust, for $150...Fuck all that! Although the way my wife spent on her, she could have gotten two of those things!

But Christmas isn't just about Santa and gifts and parties, and lights, and trees, all that fun shit...That's what we're suppose to say right? It's about that wonderful miracle, of an unmarried, virgin, somehow winding up pregnant...

A spirit did it? I tried to tell my wife that's what happened the first time too...That shit didn't fly! I won't get into any religious debate here, I'm just saying, today if some chick gave me that line, I wouldn't believe her...Many of the faith based stories are hard to buy into...

This time of year also makes me think about those who aren't in our lives anymore...Whether it be because they have passed away, or because we just grew apart...Either way, I always think of them around Christmas, and miss them dearly...Then I'll think of those who want to be with their loved ones, but are forced apart because of military commitments...Just sucks...(Time for a musical interlude)

I feel like I'm just rambling on here...I' guess I'm just trying to shake off a bit of the holiday blues, and get my Holly Jolly back...I'm sure I'll get there after I get out of the Fish House tomorrow (with a X-mas Bonus in my pocket)...

Oh, and one last thing...For the ladies...When Santa is done doing spreading good cheer...Do spreading yourself, and a drop and gobble is always nice too!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

The Beeze.
