Monday Moaning

Just imagine what else she can do...Quality videos of this gal out there!

I mentioned last week that we are having financial issues, and foundation issues with our home...Well, this week I got a promotion at work...While it means working more hours and all nights, and less time doing stuff with the kids, it also means more money...Then after picking a company that gave us an estimate of just over $17,000 to fix and refinish our entire basement, we found out that they approved financing for $15,000 of it for us...And at a good rate...

So while things are still going to be tight for awhile, we're feeling a bit better about it all...Plus the basement getting done how it is, is going to give us a good increase in resale value, if and when we can ever sell this bastard!

So while most sports fans this weekend were paying attention to  the NCAA Basketball Tournament, I was paying attention to the NCAA Hockey Tournament...

There are a lot of people out there who don't realize, that they are missing some good hockey...Scoring, defense, checking, goaltending, quality play all around...Saturday it took double OT for (14)North Dakota to get past (5)Ferris State 2-1...My (8)Irish were pushed to OT as well, where they fell to (9)St. Cloud State 4-3...The Irish controlled much of the game, but the Huskies have a bunch of firepower...3 elite goal scorers...But Sunday (1)Minnesota shut them down, winning 4-0 to advance to the Frozen Four...Also on Sunday, Hockey East rivals, (2)Boston College and (7)UMass-Lowell battle for a ticket to the Fozen four...BC came out on top 4-3...

April 10th BC will face (3)Union who beat (13)Vermont and (11)Providence to get there...Then North Dakota will Face Minnesota...

I'll be pulling for North Dakota, who will always be the "Fighting Sioux" in my eyes!

But you know what else makes College Hockey better then College Basketball?  I don't have to see the campuses erupt into a riot every time their team advances...At first I didn't care that Dayton did...But for God's sake then it turned into every time the Flyers made a basket, that campus went batshit...

Then this weekend Arizona had a riot...1st, Thank God they didn't get to the Final Four...2nd, You're Arizona...You've got some basketball history...No need to get worked up to riot level...Then UConn decided to go crazy because they made it to the Final Four...WHAT THE FUCK!?!  You'r mother fucking UConn...You go to the Final Four every other year...What happened to "Act like you've been there before?"  Never in my life did I think I would say, I'm rooting for Florida...But their campus will probably burn to the ground if they win, because the trend in college basketball is clearly to overreact...

Basketball fucking sucks dirty, rotten cock...Watch a Hockey game!

Or hell, turn on Major League Baseball...Season just started...WoooHooo, love that cold weather baseball!

This is where I get off...I need to adjust to my new schedule...My day still starts early with kids in the morning...Gotta figure out a time to slip in a nap...

Have a week...

Monday Moaning

Well I hope everyone else had a fun St. Paddy's Day...Maybe not as classy as these two, but still fun...(thanks for that Barstool!)

I have to give B-Dub a big thanks for covering for me...I also apologize for not being around for the last week or so...Things have been a mess here lately...My St. Patrick's Day blew...Molly had to have her second major dental surgery first thing that morning...Nothing like putting your 3 year old under and handing over $1600 on a bright Monday morning, when the cool people are having kegs and eggs...

The first hour or two after coming out of it sucks...But she bounced back well...Better then she did last time...In the afternoon I got some Irish boiled dinner going, just to get a bit in the mood...The next day I took off work as well, just to help her have another day of taking it easy without the morning runaround...We just relaxed and played, it was a nice day...until the wife and I looked at just how fucking broke we are right now...

Then we had a guy come out later in the week to check our basement that has suddenly been taking water this Winter...He found some issues...Basically the foundation is fucked, and we're sitting down with some people this week to get estimates on the options we have, and financing options...

If anyone out there has an extra $20,000 out there, it would really help the Beeze family out...I apologized for being absent lately, but it may be happening more, as I'm going to be looking to pick up extra hours at work...or if you have something under the table, that would be sweet too!

Sports has clearly been on my back burner...I couldn't tell you shit about the NCAA tourney, except my bracket is totally fucked...Hey, I was just guessing anyways...

The NCAA Hockey Tourney is set after this weekends conference tournaments were finished...

The Northeast Region is 1. Boston College vs. 4. Denver
 2.UMass-Lowell vs. 3. Minnesota State

Odd since  Lowell won the Hockey East Tourney and BC was bounced early by Notre Dame...

The East region is 1. Union College vs. 4. Vermont
 2. Providence vs. 3. Quinnipiac

Union was the ECAC regular season and tournament champion...

The Midwest Region is 1. Wisconsin vs. 4. North Dakota
 2. Ferris State vs. 3. Colgate

Ferris State lost to Minnesota State in the WCHA Final...

The West Region is 1. Minnesota vs. Robert Morris
 2. Notre Dame vs. St. Cloud State

Notre Dame lost to UMass-Lowell in the Hockey East semifinals...St. Cloud who has been a good team all year, got bounced in the first round of the NCHC tournament by Miami...

Clearly, the regular season means a lot more then the conference tournaments  based on teams in and out, and seeding...

I would like to say the Irish will take the whole damn thing, but I'm not sure they'll get by St. Cloud...I think we'll be seeing a Minnesota vs. UMass-Lowell final...

That's about all the sports I have for ya...

Oh, except, this...If you're going to a hockey game, and you're going to bang on the glass, you better be ready....

That's all I have for now...

Have a week...

Monday Moaning

Normally I begin Monday Moaning with some eye candy...But not this week...This week we start with a champion...David Marsh, goalie for the Sylvania Northview High School Hockey team...As many of you have heard, Marsh and his Wildcats faced the St. Ignatius Wildcats in the Ohio High School State Championship...And after 7 overtimes, the game was still tied 1-1...

And that's where it stopped...1-1 tie for the State Championship...Co-Champions...The OHSAA decided after discussing it with the coaches and school administrators, for the sake of the safety of the players, the game was over...

First, look at the shots on goal...Northview 27, Ignatius 79...79 shots, and David Marsh stopped 78...

When asked if he was tired, Marsh said, "I wasn't really tired. When you are in this type of moment, the adrenaline is just pumping."

And based on the reactions of the players, he wasn't the only one who felt that way...Seeing some of the news clips, and pictures, these kids weren't happy about the decision that was made...This was reaction of the St. Ignatius players when they found out...Frustration, and disbelief...They had taken the ice for the 8th OT session...But things seemed off when the Northview players didn't return...

But when they did come out on the ice, it was clear they weren't pleased either...

It seems clear the players had no say...Yes, these are high school kids, and we should worry about their safety...But you can't have  a tie for the championship...Yes, there is no shootout in the rule book...So what! You decided to call the game, why can't you decide to go to a shootout?  Do something...Get a winner...After that long, people almost hate to see a team lose...But after all that, players, and I would think coaches hate to not have a winner...

I'm sorry, this was just weak...There has to be a clear cut winner...They would never pull this shit in Ohio High School Football...They would play to the death if they had to...Football fans, and schools, and coaches would never allow a tie...So why is it okay in Hockey?  IT'S NOT!

Once again, Ohio has given the country another reason to point and laugh at us...Tie in a State Championship...#UnFuckingReal!

There was rumbling going around in the local Hockey circles, (St. Ignatius is from Cleveland) that Northview was just playing their top 2 lines for most of the OT periods, leading to those kids being gassed...And so people here assume Northview was pushing for stopping the game...I don't know if that is true, or if it's just Ignatius people being Ignatius people...They're generally douchebags!  Sorry to all my friends, who went there, and aren't douchebags...Sometimes the St. Edward in me takes over!

But what I do know is, while neither team won, David Marsh is clearly a Champion...

Helluva job by all the kids on both teams...I'm sorry the adults robbed you of a chance at a true title...

Alright, who wants to see a sweet breakaway goal?

We all know they take Hockey seriously in Minnesota...But apparently, they also take their Hockey Hair seriously...

That's it for now...

Oh Captain, My Captain

Yesterday, the New York Rangers, traded their captain, Ryan Callahan to the Tampa Bay Lightning for Martin St. Louis...

The last Rangers captain to be traded was Mark Messier (the rights for) in 2003 to the San Jose Sharks for a 4th Rd pick...That pick became...Ryan Callahan...Just an interesting fact for ya...

So, from what I've seen from most Rangers fans on twitter, and blogs, and what I've heard on NHL radio, they are happy about this trade...Yes, Martin St. Louis at 38 years old, still scores...He's always been a talented offensive player...Everyone keeps comparing their offensive numbers...

Well why is a little guy like ST. Louis able to keep scoring? Well, he plays little defense, while Callahan is a defensive thorn in people's sides...Callahan, checks...Finishes every check...Drives star players crazy, by running them into the boards...Callahan blocks shots...He blocks them with precision...Like it's a fucking art form...And if he has to, he'll drop the gloves...

St. Louis has always shied away from these parts of the game...But the constant talk is about scoring...Well people, there is a lot more to Hockey then just scoring...

But for me it's not just about the difference between the two players...Lets look at the trade...

St. Louis wanted out of Tampa Bay because his feelings were hurt, because Lightning GM Steve Yzerman who was the GM for team Canada, didn't pick St. Louis for the Olympic team...(St. Louis did go, as he took injured teammate, Steven Stamkos' spot) Then St. Louis said the only team he wanted to go to was the Rangers...Wanting to reunite with old teammate, and fellow old man, Brad Richards...

So why the hell did Rangers (overrated) GM Glen Sather give up so much for a 38 year old guy with another year on his contract? So much you ask? Besides Callahan, who is ten years younger, Sather gave up a 1st round and a 2nd round draft pick...If Callahan resigns with Tampa Bay, that 2nd round pick becomes a first...

What the fuck!?! St. Louis is a 38 year old with hurt feeling only willing to go to your team...Why give up the two high picks along with your Captain? Yzerman doesn't like, tell him to go screw...San Jose was interested in Callahan...Talk to them...Tell Yzerman San Jose is giving more, or asking for less, or both...These GM's always say it's a business...Well treat that way...Too bad is Yzerman is stuck with a 38 year old who is sad, and only plays one part of the game...Not your problem!

And why were the Rangers shopping Callahan? They couldn't reach a contract extension with him and his agent...Everyone says he was asking for too much...Why were they saying this? Because all they look at is scoring...Not the everything else that is just as important...And maybe it was bit high...In the end, the talk was 6 years, near $6 million a year...But the thing that killed the deal for Sather was Callahan wanting a no trade clause...Really? The captain of your team wants to finish his career with you and that's no good...People say players should give the team a "hometown discount," that they should show that loyalty...Why the fuck shouldn't the team show it as well!?!

As a lifelong Rangers fan, I hate this trade...As a Callahan fan, I hate this trade...As some one who tries to use common sense, I think Sather should be fired for getting raped by Yzerman, who St. Louis painted in a corner...

Long term, the Rangers lose big time...Short term, the Rangers lose...St. Louis may add offense, but makes them softer, and takes a away a key defensive asset...And in the Spring, he turns 39 when the Rangers will be trying to make huge playoff run...I recall Brad Richards (33) looking old and out of gas last year in the playoffs...So out of gas, he was scratched for the last 3 games...

Martin St. Louis is not the missing link who will save the Rangers and take them to a Cup...But those high draft picks could have been, skating beside Callahan...

You won't see that 38 year old doing all of this...

Best of luck Captain Cally...Tampa Bay is going to love you!

Tuesday Moaning?

Amendment I

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."

That my friends is what the 1st Amendment says...So no matter what anyone says, we are not a "Christian Nation"...We are a nation made of many beliefs, and ideas, and we are free to have those beliefs and ideas...And our elected officials are not suppose to push their beliefs, or my beliefs, or your beliefs on everyone else...

This post, clearly is inspired by the law that some were trying to push through in Arizona...Luckily, for the sake of freedom, and common sense, the governor vetoed it...It also helped that big businesses, including the NFL put pressure on her...

Why did I say common sense...Because while many read the proposed law and saw it giving people the right to discriminated against gays and lesbians, if you read it closely, and clearly, it did more then that...A business owner who believes pre-marital sex is a sin, could turn all your fornicators away...They could look at me, and say, 'Oh no! you masturbate...Get out!'  A Muslim business owner could turn an "infidel" like me away just because our religious beliefs are different...

That's the shit people didn't see...Politicians and the media made it all about discriminating against gays...Which, many of the people behind it, are fine with...That's how they feel...Me, not so much...I have a number of gay friends, and they're no different from anyone else...They don't try to fuck me in the ass, and I don't try to tell them how great pussy is...And it is!  That's what makes America great...We have our own lives and beliefs and we don't force feed them to each other...But the law could have opened up even greater cans of worms as I pointed out...

Sadly, it isn't over...While Arizona got all the coverage, there are 11 other states, right now, with the same type of law trying to be worked through their system...Including my own backwards-ass state of Ohio...So my advice people...Start paying attention to what your elected officials are doing...Don't let politicians religious beliefs dictate local, state, or federal policy...If religions are going to get into everyone's personal lives via politics, and law, then they need to lose their tax exempt status...That's right churches, temples, mosques, those quiet little cult churches in garages just so you can be tax exempt, and all others...You want to get in on the policy wars, start kicking in your fair share...We're tired of carrying you!

-As for why I didn't post Monday...This weekend, I used my Christmas gift card to get my daughter a new clarinet...(I did find a good sale, $500 off) she played the hell out of the first one, and it went in for $100 worth of repairs, so I thought maybe it time for an upgrade...Then the Mrs. needed a serious upgrade on glasses/contacts...With the exam, contacts, two pairs of glasses...Well, it was more then I wanted to drop...Plus there was groceries, and other crap...Shit got expensive this weekend...So Sunday afternoon, I got drunk...Bombed by 5:00 PM...A little hockey, and sleeping by 10:00 PM...

-Outdoor Hockey...KNOCK IT OFF!!!

I'm sick of hearing how great these outdoor games are...Did you see that shit Saturday night...The puck being passed, and shot, and stopped inches later by the snow accumulation on the ice...It was slow, and stupid...The one game in New York was delayed, because no one realized everyday at noon, in Yankee Stadium you get a glare on a certain part of the field, which was blinding off the ice...The next game in New York, sucked...The ice was garbage, because it was too cold out...Hell, the game in LA had better ice conditions...The game in Michigan...Again with the snow...Then this past Sunday, up in British Columbia...It was raining, so they closed the retractable roof...So it wasn't an outdoor game, and still players complained about the ice being slow...

6 outdoor games in one season has killed the uniqueness of the New Years Day Winter Classic...Now it's just fucking stupid...That's the NHL...They can fuck up any good thing...

That's it people...

Have a week...
