Monday Moaning

How the hell are ya gang...It's time for some Monday Moaning...Sorry if I get a little hostile this week, I just got home from a long weekend of working at the Fish House...I may be feisty...But I am now on vacation for a week...So I may calm down by tomorrow...

This week we're gonna start with Joe Montana...A couple weeks ago he made some comments, and I feel that I should address them...As many of you may know...I'm a Notre Dame guy...You may also know, most Notre Dame people love Joe Montana...Me...Not so much...I say, F**k Joe Montana! I haven't liked him since I was a kid...Let me explain...My mom grew up in a little Pennsyltucky town near Joe...Many years later, it was high school reunion time...The school contacted Joe to see if he would be attending his class reunion...Not asking him to do anything...Just asking if he would be coming...His response..."How much are you going to pay me?" F**K YOU JOE!!!

So on to Joe's more recent comments... "You can't ask any football coach here to be constrained like that on the academic side and to have a consistent team," Montana said. "Unless you try to relax some of that for the athletic programs here, it's hard to consistently compete with the programs that have different standards."

Again I say F**K YOU JOE!!! Why? Because he's f**king wrong...Notre Dame's Women's Soccer team is one of the NCAA powerhouses...The Men's Soccer team is always strong...Jeff Jackson has turned the Fighting Irish Hockey team into a top program...The Lacrosse team, strong...And on and on...Not just at Notre Dame...At plenty of Universities that hold there STUDENT ATHLETES to the same standards as their other STUDENTS...Don't blame the University, and it's education standards for poor performances on the football field...Blame the coaches...and even the players for not executing...

If Joe Montana would have lowered his standards, and expectations...He never would have made into the NFL, and become one of the greats...Hell, he never would have made it on the field at Notre Dame...

I don't want to sound like a d!ck, but f**k it...I think this has more to do with his son not being able to cut it at Notre Dame then anything else...That's right Nate Montana transferred to Pasadena City College...Sorry Joe, But the school shouldn't lower it's standards just cause some whiny parents say so...

This seems to be a problem these days...My kids are 7 and 4...I've had a number of people tell me I expect too much from them...F**k that...You expect too little...The goal of every parent should be to help give their kids a better life then their own...Well unless I start getting paid to write this drivel, or I win the Mega Millions...I'm not gonna be able to afford to send both my kids to Notre Dame, or Boston University, or where-ever, on my Fish House salary...So I have high expectations, and standards for my kids...You go ahead and let you kid be a lump of sh!t...Mine will successful in life...Maybe one day the little Beeze will be the first President to give the State of the Union, and close by pulling out his junk, and saying...'If you don't like it...Suck on this!'

So for the record...Joe Montana= Wrong/Douche....The Beeze= Right/Twisted...

Since I brought up my son...I shared this on facebook, but it needs to be said here too...Wednesday Night, we were all watching Wipeout...He loves that damn show...He was sitting in the chair with my wife...All the sudden he stands up...Pulls his pants down, and says..."Have you seen this guy before Mama!?" WTF! It was hilarious...F**ked up...But hilarious...I swear to God he didn't get that one from me...He's also still on his "boobies" craze...I can't wait until the calls from school start...

Next up...Word is, Patriots Linebacker, Tedy Bruschi is going to announce his retirement Monday... http://www.boston.com/sports/football/patriots/articles/2009/08/30/patriots_lb_bruschi_retiring_after_13_seasons/

Big talk in Cleveland...Who the hell is going to be the Browns starting Quarterback? I'll tell you who it should be...Brady Quinn...And this ain't a Notre Dame thing...He's just better...People love to fall for a guy like Derek Anderson who can throw the deep ball...Coaches included...Problem is, he throws everything like he's throwing a deep ball...The guy struggles with the short stuff...He has no touch, and doesn't see the field as well as Quinn...Plus when an organization spends what the Browns did, to get back up in the first round, to get Quinn...You gotta play him...I know Mangina didn't draft him...So the owner has to say, play this guy, or move him and get something back...It was a big investment...Giving Anderson a contract extension when they were going after Quinn was a bad investment...BTW, the Browns won their preseason game Saturday against the Titans, 23-17...I'm seeing some improvement...

Since we're on Football...It may be August still, but it's Fall in Ohio...High School Football Season started Friday...Yes folks, Ohio can be like mini-Texas when it comes to Football...Don't believe...Check out the documentary called "Go Tigers."

I live in a small community...We're not crazy like the people in Massillon (in Go Tigers) but we support our team...The high School is around the block from us, and the Football Stadium is at the end of our street...Friday at 7:00PM the band marches down to the stadium...The kids dig that...Students and parents, and neighbors follow...It's a great atmosphere...Like I said...We're a small community...One of my favorite things to do every year is count how many band members are also cheerleaders and football players...Nothing like a kid ripping off his shoulder pads and helmet at halftime, and breaking out his trumpet...

This week The Brooklyn (OH) Hurricanes lost to rival Rhodes High School 24-22...

Lastly this week...I wanted to share this link, and say hell yeah to Angelo Cammarata...Best of luck to him... http://www.gnn.com/article/cheers-prohibition-era-bartender-retires/644371

That's it for now...

My Fantasy Football Team

So last night we had The Fish House Fantasy Football Draft...We play for money, and the right to bust balls...I had the second overall pick in a 10 team league...So then I had that long wait between my first and second pick...But I stayed busy keeping track of everyone else, since I'm the Commissioner....

Here's my team in the order I drafted them...

1. Maurice Jones-Drew (RB)

Everyone thought I was going to take Turner...But MJD gets some receiving points for ya too...I think he's gonna have a good year...I had Turner last year and he was great...But for some reason MJD kept popping in my head...So I went for it...

2. Ryan Grant (RB)

3. Greg Jennings (WR)

4. Philip Rivers (QB)

5. Jason Whitten (TE)
He was a stud for me last year!

6. Anthony Gonzalez (WR)

7. Willie Parker (RB)

8. Ted Ginn Jr. (WR)

9. Matt Ryan (QB)

10. Julias Jones (RB)

I don't know how he's gonna work out, but WTF...I can always drop him...When I need another Kicker or Defense...

11. Steve Breaston (WR)

12. Domenik Hixon (WR)

13. Visanthe Shiancoe (TE)

14. New England Patriots (Defense)

15. Leon Washington (RB)

16. Rian Lindell (K)

So that's the team...I feel really good about my QBs and TEs...I would've liked another proven WR...But there's always a couple WRs and RBs who show up out of nowhere on teh waiver wire...We'll see...Good luck in your leagues...I've got another draft Thursday at the Gab.

Monday Moaning

Well I just posted something that has kinda brought my mood down...I don't feel like doing my normal Monday post...But I will...How can I not...I mean after you read about the little Beeze and what he said this weekend...How could I let it go to waste?

First the post I wrote Sunday night...in case you missed it...
http://thebeezewax.blogspot.com/2009/08/where-is-beverly-potts.html

Now, to lighten the mood a little...If you want a chuckle, check out this post I did Saturday night about a classic eighties movie...
http://thebeezewax.blogspot.com/2009/08/movie-george-lucas-wants-us-to-forget.html

I've been stuck in a little bit of an eighties movie rut this weekend...There's one that has always bothered me...There's just some underlying thing there...And with the help of Quentin Tarantino, I've put my finger on it....

Holy Sh!t..."Top Gun" is so Gay!

Moving on to a little sports...Just a little...I mean right now, it's all getting ready for Fantasy Football, and hoping the Red Sox don't sh!t the bed and miss the playoffs...

The Cleveland Browns not only scored this weekend in their preseason game...They won 27-10...
I know, it's just preseason...And it was only against the Lions...But screw it...A win is a win and right now, I'll take it...

With each week, I get more excited about football season...Not so much about the Browns...Just football in general...

Now most of you know I'm a huge Notre Dame fan...I always liked Lou Holtz...Some people love the hell out of him...I just like him...But then the crazy old coot predicts a Florida vs. Notre Dame title game...Christ, I'm not even that much of a Domer-Homer...Here's a link to that nonsense...
http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/blog/dr_saturday/post/Out-on-a-limb-even-for-Dr-Lou-Irish-in-the-ti?urn=ncaaf,184500

The highlight of my weekend was on Thursday night...I know, it's not the weekend...Too bad...The wife and I went to the House of Blues and saw Our Lady Peace...the show was amazing, and of course I wrote about it...
http://thebeezewax.blogspot.com/2009/08/our-lady-peace-live-at-cleveland-house.html

Friday was a day of recovery...Saturday, worked at the Fish House, and didn't do much when I got home...

Sunday, We took the kids up to Kiddie Park...We were meeting some friends there...They have three daughters...One our daughter's age...One our son's age, and a younger one...We always joke about how cute our son is with their daughter that's his age...she's one of the few people that put him in his place...They get along great, and she sometimes calls him her boyfriend...

Now lately we've noticed another sign that helps prove he's just like his me...He's been sportin' some wood lately...Is 4 too young...I'll be honest...I started grinding my junk on stuff at about 4 years old...

So him and his little girlfriend are getting off one of the rides they had been on together...And he says..."Oh man, my pee-pee is sticking out again!"

Maybe I'm a bad parent, but I was laughing my ass off!

Now, I'm posting this and getting outta here...I gotta get ready for the Fish House fantasy football draft tomorrow...And I should probably get some of the poison out...

Here's a little more OLP, because "we're always in repair."

Where is Beverly Potts?

Friday August 24th 1951, 10 year old Beverly Potts vanished from her Cleveland neighborhood...Never to be seen again...The case is still open...And even though it has nothing to do with me...It haunts me...

She had disappeared after attending a showagon at Halloran Park....The showagon was a group of singers dancers, and other performers, that went from park to park near the end of Summer...Halloran Park was at the corner of Beverly's street, Linnet and 117th...

Beverly had gone there with her best friend and next door neighbor, Patsy Swing...Beverly was told she stay for the whole show...Patsy had to be home by dark...When it got close to 9:00 PM...Patsy left...She tried to get Beverly to come with her...But Beverly wanted to stay...And did...

Once it was 10:00 PM, Beverly's parents, and older sister became worried...Her father and sister went to the park to look for her...They came back with no signs of Beverly...They checked again...Her mother called the police...Later, after the police hadn't shown up...Her sister called the police again...It was now after midnight...The search was on...Her father Robert searched the neighborhood...Neighbors began to realize something was wrong...And started searching also...

By all accounts, Beverly was extremely shy...Especially around boys, and men...Even men she knew...So the thought that she would have left willingly with some one was highly doubted...Yet no one at the park had noticed any type of struggle, or anything alarming...It's estimated that there was 1500 people there...

Then Saturday morning came...No sign of Beverly...The neighborhood was in shock...The Cleveland police was working non-stop, lead by Chief of Detectives, James E. McArthur...Every lead...I stress every, was checked out...Hot lines were setup...All three Cleveland papers were covering the story, non-stop...

One of the scariest things to me, is the number of stories that came out...A woman down the block from the Potts house hearing a girl scream "I want to go home!" as a car sped by...A man seeing a young girl in a car with an older man...And then seeing that car in a field a short time later, about a mile or so away...The man beating the girl...A cab driver picking up a suspicious looking man and a young girl on 117th, and taking them to the bus station...These are just a few...You can't be sure what is true, and what isn't...But if any of them are true, why the hell didn't some one do something, or speak up sooner...

There was also many reports of people seeing a particular type of car...With a creepy looking person...Some accounts saying two people...Trolling around the park during the Showagon...

It's all so sketchy...Especially almost 60 years later...Yet...Even today...If a tip comes in...It's checked out...It's still an open case...Nothing has ever been found...

"The earth might as well have opened up and swallowed the child. She has vanished into nothing." -Ben R. Tidyman in the Cleveland Plain Dealer, 9-4-'51

The Potts family was investigated...Neighbors interviewed...Classmates interviewed...Every know sex offender questioned...I was surprised to read how well the police kept tabs on sex offenders back then...Over the years, there have been many promising tips, that have just never panned out..

In 2001 letters were received at the Cleveland Plain Dealer...A dying man confessing to the disappearance, molestation, and murder of Beverly...On the 50th anniversary of the disappearance, he was going to turn himself in at Halloran Park...Then he sent another letter, just weeks before...Saying he has become to sick, and was being put into a nursing home...The Police checked everything and anything they could...The man was never found....Beverly has never been found...No trace of her has ever been found...

It's been said, that after Beverly's disappearance, Her mother Elizabeth, "seemed to be crying softly virtually all the time." I can only imagine. Elizabeth Potts died 5 years later, in 1956...

I said at the beginning that this story haunts me...I'm not sure why...I do know that it bothers me even more, now that I have kids of my own...My father grew up at Halloran Park...It was just steps from his childhood home...He knew of Beverly Potts...He's a few years older then her...She was friends with my aunt...

I had spent plenty of time at Halloran Park when I was kid...We'd walk up there when we were visiting my grandfather...I didn't find out about the Beverly Potts story until I was in high school...Although I didn't think much of it...But I always felt uneasy at the park after that...I took my wife there once...It was our first date that didn't start in a bar after work...We went ice skating there...But I still felt strange...I drive past Halloran everyday...And I think about what may have happened to that little girl...

I always think about how much better things were in our society, when i was kid...I knew there were kid touchers, and evil people...I was prepared for it...But it didn't seem to be too bad...Then I would think about when my parents were growing up, and how much better a time it was in the world...There couldn't be this much bad sh!t...Then I learned about Beverly Potts...And her story leads you to so many more horrible stories that happened back then...Clearly, this world has always been f**ked up....

I guess all we can do is prepare our children for the bad as best we can...While not forgetting to show them the good...

Many times you hear questions like, 'If you could ask God one question...What would it be?' Or some silly sh!t like that...I'd ask, WHERE'S BEVERLY POTTS?

Not that it would do any good for her family...They're all gone...Maybe it's just my Catholic upbringing that just wants that poor child's soul to finally rest peacefully.

The Movie George Lucas Wants Us to Forget...

But I won't...I can't...How could you forget such a classic...Especially a guy like me, from Cleveland...

The Movie I'm talking about...Howard the Duck....
-
-
I gotta figure Tim Robbins, and Lea Thompson would like to forget about it...Bad story...Bad acting...Just all around bad...
-
If you don't know what this silly little tale is all about, let me enlighten you...
-
Some douche bag scientist in Cleveland is messing around with some laser, and brings Howard the Duck down to Earth with it...Because apparently there are a sh!t-ton of walking, talking, ducks out in space...
-
Then some evil "Dark Overlord" comes down from space and takes over the scientists body...Apparently there are a lot of those in space too....Go figure, some dummy in Cleveland screwed up again...
-
Now it gets intense...Howard falls for Lea Thompson...And she falls for him...By the way, she is a crappy musician, in a crappy band...This was the eighties...Everyone wanted to be a rock star, and Cleveland was selling itself as the home of Rock & Roll...It's hard to sell the home of closing steel mills...
-
Tim Robbins becomes Howard's best buddy...And Howard must save Earth from the "Dark Overlord." It's just plain silly...
-
It's no wonder Lucas doesn't bring it up when talking about all his classic films...But that's why I'm here...To bring you the important stuff...
-
Check out this classic scene....

-

And you can't forget this classic ending....

WOW! That stinks!

Our Lady Peace Live at the Cleveland House of Blues

Last night Our Lady Peace rolled into the Cleveland House of Blues...I've been looking forward to this night for a couple months now...I was not disappointed...

First we had to get through the opening act, Meese...They're from Colorado...They sounded better live then on their MySpace...By better, I mean more energy, and a dirtier sound...That may just have been caused by a bad sound guy...You couldn't understand a word from the singer...I would describe them as a bad mix of Weezer and The Fray...But they have a poppy sound that will win some people over...My wife included...She enjoyed them...

Then the stage was set for Our Lady Peace...They made the crowd wait a couple more minutes then we wanted to...But when they came out the place went crazy...They Opened up with a new song...Monkey Brains...It was rocking...

OLP sounded tight...Duncan Coutts' bass was thumping the room...Jeremy Taggert was working the drums with fire and strength...Steve Mazur ripped it up all night on guitar...AWESOME...

And Raine Maida didn't miss a note, and was the stellar front man he has always been...

Next they played the classic Superman's Dead...Audience participation a must...And Cleveland did not disappoint the band, as Maida stopped and said, "This is gonna be a good night!"

Then they played Angels/Losing/Sleep...Flowed right into Innocent...More crowd participation...Followed by fan favorite, Clumsy...Insert even more crowd participation...And an awesome jam at the end of it...OLP was killing it...

At this point Maida stopped and thanked the fans for their support over the years...Then gave a shout out to a little place from back in the day, called Peabody's...A little dump I spent far too many nights in...Yes I called it a dump, but I have nothing but good memories from there...Just wish once, that my band got paid with money instead of beer there....

Then they played Paper Moon and Escape Artist...Both from the new album Burn Burn...Which if you missed my review of that, here ya go.... http://thebeezewax.blogspot.com/2009/08/beeze-reviews-burn-burn.html

Paper Moon was great, as I expected...Escape Artist didn't disappoint me either...I had been hoping that they would play it...I just wish more people knew it...That will be a good audience participation song...

Now the next few songs I may have jumbled out of order...I had a few drinks, and I was just enjoying the show...Not taking notes...

Is Anybody Home was started out with just Maida, and his acoustic guitar, and the crowd...We did well again...the song finished with the whole band blasting in....Chills were had....

Then came Somewhere Out There...Insert audience participation....The tempo was slowed down with Bring Back the Sun....Then picked back up with One Man Army...That was followed by the classic Naveed...The whole time the crowd singing along...Then came the first single from Burn Burn, All You Did Was Save My Life...Again the crowd got involved...And Maida got into the crowd....he's made a habit of climbing into the balconies and rafters and getting closer with the fans...And he taunted a fan for sitting...Awesome...

OLP left the stage for a couple moments...All bands do this...We know they're coming back out for a couple more songs...But we still clap and chant, and hell some people still throw a lighter in the air...

When they returned to the stage, OLP started the encore with fan favorite, and city challenge sing-a-long, 4AM...If you don't know...4Am is a song that many people have connected with over the years, and the audience no matter what town, will sing the hell out of it...Cleveland did not fail..And yes, I sang along too...

Then they did In Repair...One of my favorites, as well as one of the little Beeze's favorites...No I didn't bring him...In the middle of In Repair, Maida and the band dropped in a little taste of Life, before blasting back into the powerful finish of Repair...

They finished the night with Starseed...Rocking the hell out of the House of Blues, with the help of their fans, of course....Including one fan who jumped up on stage and started singing with Maida...Raine gave up the mic to him and let him take it to the lead...Very cool...Even cooler was when the dude jumped back into the crowd and was catching some sh!t...Maida spoke up and said "Leave him alone...That takes a lot of courage." The band finished out Starseed, and the show was over...

I was left wanting more...A sign of a great show...

The sound was great...Great set list...Yes there were other songs I wanted to hear...But if it was up to me they would have played another hour...some people may not want to hear this...Or read it...But I prefer OLP,and probably many other bands, in a smaller venue like the House of Blues...You feel like you're part of something special...

My wife had never seen Our Lady Peace live...Hell she didn't even know who they were until I tricked her into marrying me...She had come to like some songs because of me playing them all the time...And she loves the new album...But now she's hooked...She couldn't believe how everyone knew every word, to every song...On the way home she said, "You have to put ore of their songs on my ipod, so I can learn them for next time." That's my girl!

Tickets were $22.50 before service charges...That's a bargain...I would have gladly paid more...It was an amazing night....If OLP rolls through your town...Check them out...And Check out the new album...And check out the old ones too...You gotta be ready to sing-a-long...

Later, the Beeze.

Monday Moaning

They say America runs on Dunkin'...Well I sure do! Here I sit on a Sunday night, wondering what to write and knockin' back some Dunkin' Donuts coffee, and grubbin' on some Cup Noodles...

It hasn't been that exciting of a weekend...I would say the big news in sports...Tiger Woods is human...He went into Sunday with a lead...And he blew it! All I can think of is Deniro in Copland....(2 minutes in)

Your winner...Y. E. Yang...Who? Y. E. Yang....Don't ask me, I don't know who the f**k he is! But he played great...

Last week I got to beat the crap out of Josh Hamilton...Just when you thought you saw the highest level of douche baggery...Rick Pitino takes that sh!t to next level...Very nice! Let me sum it up for you if you don't know what happened...

He hooks up with some trap in a restaurant...When I say hooks up...I mean f**ked...Then they go out again...Hook up again...Then, "I'm pregnant!" Let's go to my assistant's place...There they decide that Patino would give her $3000.00 dollars for an abortion...Then she hooks up with his assistant, then marries him...His assistant who now, I believe is a trainer or equipment guy for Patino at Louisville...Then she wants 10 million dollars...So Patino says f**k that...So now she's crying rape...Really? he raped you...And then you went out with him again...Then he raped you again...Then you marry one of his friends...I'm calling BULLSH!T on this chick...And I'm calling Patino a f**king douche bag for the whole mess...Can't wait for his wife to take half his sh!t...And good example for your five kids Dick Patino!

Moving onto a Cleveland Indians update...The Tribe is without a doubt... The best Triple-A team in the land...Boston has to love that Martinez trade...The Indians got pitching prospect Justin Masterson...Friday night he started...3.1 innings pitched...5 BB...6 earned runs...Very Nice!

So, I've gotten more proof that the little Beeze is becoming more like me...All week he's been pretty obsessed with my wife's breasts...The highlight being him saying, in front of my mother-in-law, and brother-in-law...."I want those boobies...Give me those boobies!" That's my Boy!

The highlight of the weekend would have to be Saturday night...The Mrs. and went out to dinner with our friends May and Bryan...We went to the Fish House's sister restaurant...It's a steak house...And a very good one at that...From the moment we walked in we were treated like VIPs...It helps when you've known the GM, Chef, and the server for many years...The ladies enjoyed their wine...I enjoyed my Dortmunder...Bryan enjoyed his cocktails...I forget what he was drinking....Does it matter, as long as he was drinking right!?!

The food was awesome...Apps were great...Salads were great...Entrees were great...I had the bone-in strip steak, Au Poivre style....(from the food lovers companion..."[oh PWAHV-rh] Steak that is covered with coarsely ground pepper before being sauteed or broiled. Steak au poivre is usually finished either by topping it with a chunk of sweet butter or by making a simple sauce from the pan drippings. Elaborate presentations often call for flaming (see flambé) the steak with brandy. Also called pepper steak.")

Then we had dessert...That too was great...Then we got the bill...It was half of what it should have been...And it should have been a lot...It pays to know people!

After that we went across the street to a bar...We had one drink there...But the gals weren't enjoying the Blues band that was playing...BTW, at this point I had given up on the Browns pre-season game...Bryan was loving it...He's from Wisconsin...So seeing the Packers make the browns look like tools, was very enjoyable for him...17-0 Packers! Brownies picking up where they left off...

Then we went to this bar called Aces...We had to pay a cover charge...There was a sh!tty band playing...Seriously sh!tty...They were a wannabe punk band, playing '80s hits, trying to sound like Green Day...Oh, and they did a Green Day tune also...They sucked at that one too...But there's nothing like a sh!tty punk band, playing Duran Duran's "Hungry Like a Wolf."

After a little time there...Once May's eye's started closing, we headed out...We dropped them off at home...Then we headed home...Dinner and everything else was great, but here COMES the highlight...Mrs. Beeze did the old drop and gobble...You know it's good night when you get road head...

Sunday, I had to get up early and go to the Fish House for power douching of the kitchen...That'll ruin a buzz quickly....Then I came home to the little guy being an a$$hole...He was a serious pain...Now all is well...They're all sleeping...When I'm done with this I'll check out some porn...

That's it for now...Have a good week...Go get some Dunkin'!

Rest In Peace Les Paul

Today the Music world lost a great...An icon...A legend...Les Paul has died at the age of 94...And while this is me paying a small bit of tribute to the guitarist and inventor, who pioneered the design of solid body Gibson electric guitars...It's also me taking some swings at this crazy world we live in...

Why is it that Les Paul's death isn't all over the cable news networks? Why is there so little being said about a musician and innovator who did so much for the world of music?

I'll tell ya why...Because his life wasn't full of scandal...Because he wasn't a nut-job...Because he wasn't an asshole...For all the crap about Michael Jackson we had to endure...Could we please get some love for a true innovator...

In my opinion, Les Paul did far more for the music industry then that crazy ass, kid toucher. (allegedly)

He played guitar alongside the jazz greats and pop musicians, from Louis Armstrong to Bing Crosby....In the 1930s he began experimenting with guitar amplification...By 1941 he had built what was probably the first solid-body electric guitar...With his guitar and his wife Mary Ford's, vocals, he used overdubbing, multi-track recording and new electronic effects to create a string of hits in the 1950s....

His musical style touched not only jazz, but country and rock and roll...He often said, his main goal was to make people happy...

Well today is a sad day for the music world...Today that great band that plays in Heaven...(if you believe in that) has just gotten a lot better...And guess who isn't in the band with Les Paul...If you said the kid toucher, you're right....
-
This is a picture of my old Les Paul...When I realized I wasn't going to make it in music, I started selling some things off...When my daughter was born I sold my '62 Fender Jazzmaster to start her college fund...When my son was born...I sold this beauty....I miss it a little more today...
-
Rest In Peace Les Paul.

The Beeze Reviews Burn Burn

-
In the past I have reviewed restaurants, movies, and a Dane Cook concert...Why do I do this...Because most critics suck, and I will always feel my opinion is much better then most!
-
So today I'm reviewing the latest album from Our Lady Peace...One of my favorite bands...Most reviews come out before a album or movie are released...And most critics don't take the time to listen or view more then a couple of times...I've taken a couple of weeks...Mainly because I don't want to look like a douche bag fan...Okay, I may be a douche bag fan, but I took the time to listen to every song many times...So here we go...
-
For years Our Lady Peace has had to deal with their record label giving them crap to write "hit singles." It seems to be a common story in the music business...Labels trying to tell artists what to do...Now OLP is free from their label, and Produced "Burn Burn" on their own...Guess what? Some douche at Sony is kicking himself right now...Not only is this excellent OLP album, but it may be the most "Radio Friendly"...Although being in Cleveland, it's been a long time since I've heard a good radio station....Most the time it's jumping around fro song to song...Actually Most the time i'm listening to CDs or XM...But that's not the point right now...
-
When I heard the first single "All You Did Was Save My Life" on the radio I was a little nervous...My co-worker, Jurk and I both thought it had a hint of Goo Goo Dolls to it...This scared me...But after listening a few more times, and listening closely...I realized this was OLP without a doubt...
-
The poet that is Raine Maida, picks up where his solo disc "The Hunter's Lullaby" left off, opening himself up for all to see...I've always admired his lyric writing...The rest of the band, guitarist Steve Mazur, bassist Duncan Coutts, and drummer Jeremy Taggart, sound revitalized and crisper then ever...
-
Through out the album I was blown away by Mazur's guitar work...he drops the gloves on this one and plays some old school rock & roll guitar...(sorry if the hockey metaphor gave you douche chills)...But seriously, this is some of the best guitar I've heard from OLP...And honestly, the rhythm section of Taggart and Coutts sound stronger then ever...I guess Bob Rock isn't the only guy who can get the best out of musicians...Our Lady Peace seems to have gotten the best out of themselves...
-
The second track on the disc is the uplifting "Dreamland"...Great music, great lyrics...One of my tests for music is if my kids like it...(They both [7 and 4] love OLP...Seriously they're mad that the Mrs. and I are going to the show here in the Cleve and they aren't)...My son can sing every word of "Thief" and "In Repair"...Well his new favorite is "Dreamland" and he's got it down...If a 4 year old can rock out to a song and learn the lyrics in a matter of a couple days...That's a good song in my book...
-
Next is "Monkey Brains"...This one jumps right into your face...Taggart, Coutts, and Mazur show you where they're from on this one...Straight up rock & roll...Then OLP slows it down...Just to come right back and blast you in the face...I've seen videos on YouTube...And they tear it up live too!
-
The next song is "The End Is Where We Begin." This is one of my favorite songs on the album...The Lyrics are great and the music strengthens them...Every band has those certain songs that become staples in their set list and this feels like another one for OLP...
-
Then comes "Escape Artist"...It opens up sounding like something from "The Hunter's Lullaby" and then the band joins in with the stadium sized chorus "you're the ghost" and it's amazing...A really powerful tune, and it leaves you wanting more...Some of the best songs do that...Leave you wanting more...I hope OLP does this one live when they come to The House of Blues in Cleveland August 20th...
-
That's followed up with "Refuge"...A song about being a father in this screwed up world and raising your kids to be aware of it...While still giving them hope...When I heard this song I thought to myself...'This sounds like something U2 would write.' I don't mean that as a knock on OLP...In my world that's a compliment...
-
As the album goes on, you can hear much of the writing is talking about relationships...And the next tack does more of the same..."Never Get Over You" could very well be the return of the power ballad...That isn't a knock either...It's been too long since we've heard a good rock ballad, with the singer wearing his heart on his sleeve...Any man who's man who's married or at least been in love can relate to the line..."There's no hiding, from your silence."
My wife immediately fell in love with this one...She tried to be nice and say it's not as good as the one I wrote for her...But she's full of sh!t...Of course it's better then the stuff I've written...She's just a good person...
-
After that comes probably the most up-tempo song on the album, "White Flags." This one is my favorite on the album...We all have songs that we feel we can relate to...And this is one of those for me...The line, "this whole world has gone crazy, God's got a little lazy" is a thought I've had countless times...This is another song I hope to hear live...It's got such a great energy to it...I can see the whole place going crazy...
-
Then there's "Signs Of Life." This is another one that has a similar feel to Maida's solo stuff...Another great line I wish I would have come up with..."The sound of quiet is deafening"...This song puts you in a place...A lonely place...Feeling kinda lost...And it's done beautifully...Including a sweet, trippy, bluesy solo by Mazur...
-
The album ends with "Paper Moon." When you write a letter, you always end it with your signature...Well at least you did back when people wrote letters...That's what "Paper Moon" is...OLP's signature...It's everything you want and expect from them, plus a little more...That's what great musicians do...Give more then what you expect...And yes, I've seen videos of this one too..."WOW!" That's what I said after Steve Mazur's guitar solo...
-
It may have taken awhile to make...But Our Lady Peace have put out a great album, and they did it without a record label, and without a high priced, high profile producer...(More people may be looking to come to Raine Maida's studio)
-
Many people have been down on the music business, and with good reason in this silly, American Idol, flavor of the week world...But maybe it's better off having not so many hands all over it, trying to put their two cents in...
-
Checkout OLP's website... http://www.ourladypeace.net/ ...And if you can catch them live, do it...I can't wait to see them at The House of Blues in Cleveland...I'm looking forward to hearing the classics...But I'm even more excited to hear the new stuff live...Maybe I do sound like just another fan...Tough sh!t.

Monday Moaning

Happy Monday Gang! I never thought I'd be so happy to get to Monday...But it wasn't the best weekend at the Beeze house...I got home from work Saturday to find out my daughter hadn't taken a dump in 3 or 4 days, and wasn't feeling well because of it...I'm sure us having her pound juice with Miralax in it didn't really make her feel any better....(Miralax is a crap softener)

Then there's my son...Who was in a state this weekend...He spent Friday night at my parents...I was working a double at the Fish House and they thought it would be nice to lighten the load on my wife...Just to be clear...They wouldn't do that sh!t for me...They clearly like her more then their own son...So apparently he was full of piss and vinegar...When I walked in the door Saturday I was getting a look from my wife...I've learned them all...This one was the...'Your son is a pain in the ass...Get him away from me!' All he wanted to do was beat the sh!t out of some one...He spent the next hour beating on me and wrestling and then gave up when I tickled the hell out of him...

He continued to be an obnoxious pain in the ass all day Sunday...Bed time couldn't get here soon enough...BTW, My daughter did some serious cleaning out Sunday...In case you wanted t o know...

So lets get to some sports...A story broke this weekend about Josh Hamilton...I gotta say it pissed me off...I've commented on a couple of posts at
http://www.babeslovebaseball.com/
and at
http://www.yougabsports.com/ ...But now I think it's time for my full opinion...

Pictures were released of Hamilton getting his drink on, and having some fun with a few women who aren't his wife...If you don't know he's a baseball player who is a recovering crackhead/drunk...

It's rumored that he told his family and team after it happened...I don't give a sh!t....Some say he's human and made a mistake...Yes he is, and yes he did...People think he should be given another chance...Clearly he has...

But he won't get another from me...Yes we all f**k up...We all do sh!t we regret at times in our life...Guess what...Most of us learn from our mistakes and grow the f**k up...He's been given chance after chance, just like so many athletes and celebrities do...If he was an average guy, He wouldn't be getting multiple chances...He'd be considered a douche bag/loser...Guess what? I think he's a douche bag and a loser...

So what, he told his family and his team about his slip-up...He sure as sh!t didn't tell Rick Riley and ESPN when they were swinging from his nuts during the special they did on him not too long ago...He's excepted all the propping up the media has given him...So he better be able to take some of the sh!t he's gonna get over this...He tells everyone that his belief in God helped him get through it...Know what else helps...NOT WALKING INTO BARS!

I wonder how his wife took it when he told her...If I was the douche bag in this picture, and my wife saw it...Game Over...My sh!t is on the curb...Locks are changed...And I never see my kids again...And I'm known as an assh0le for life...

F**k Josh Hamilton!

Next...The Baseball Trade deadline has come and gone...I guess nobody told the Cleveland Indians...Friday they traded Carl Pavano to the Twins...That has got to piss-off the Tigers...Pavano is 4-0 against Detroit, and they've still got a couple more series against each other...

Speaking of the Indians...They're doing it again...This seems to always happen...They trade away their best players and now the Triple-A team is here and they start winning some games...It always seems to be enough to save that hack, Wedge's job...WTF!

Ozzie Guillen is back to running his mouth...That's okay...Some people don't like Ozzie...I love him...He says what he wants, and he doesn't give a sh!t what you think...After the Indians pitchers hit a few of his guys Saturday he let everyone know...His pitchers are gonna start hitting people...You hit us...We hit you...I'm good with that...For the record, Indians hitters are first in the league with getting hit by a pitch...The White Sox are fifth...

David Ortiz says he's innocent...He doesn't know what he tested positive for...And didn't do anything wrong...I don't believe him...I have no reason to...It's sad that (and I'm sure I'm not alone) I just don't trust what baseball players say...

Since I mentioned Big Sloppi...I should put this out there...What the hell is going on with the Red Sox!?! Nothing worse then spending your weekend getting shut down by the Yankees!

So the UFC was in Philly this weekend...We know how crazy those people in Philly can get....About 30 seconds in there's a blond that gets into the mix...She looks like some one I knew!

Crazy f**kers...I had a better video, but it was removed for violations...

BTW, the Griffin, Silva fight was a let down...Silva is a bad ass, but that knock out looked weak to me...Maybe Griffin just knew he was over matched...I don't know...

This weekend also saw another class go into the Football Hall of Fame...Getting in this year was...

WR-Bob Hayes
G-Randall McDaniel
DE-Bruce Smith
Owner-Ralph Wilson
CB/S-Rod Woodson
LB-Derrick Thomas...(About time)

That's a pretty good class...I'm about to admit something that I don't want to...I hate the Steelers...But I always liked Rod Woodson, and I was happy to see him get in...I was even happier when he mentioned that the Hall needs to get Dick LeBeau in there...As a player and a contributor...I'm sure 3rdStone smiled at that one too!

Now before I go...Many of you know I'm a big time Notre Dame fan...I've just begun building a blog just for Notre Dame news and sports...I'll be starting my Fighting Irish Football Preview this week...So if you're interested...Stop by The Beeze's Irish Buzz...

That's it for now...Have a good week...

I'll Behave

Well if you've read my last couple posts, you know I may have shared a bit too much about my sex life with Mrs. Beeze...For the most part she's okay with it...She knows I gotta be me...But I also know that friends read from time to time...She is easily embarrassed...So tonight I'll avoid any sex talk...Well I'll try...

From time to time I post lyrics to a song I've written in my youth...Or even something new I may be working on...My days of being a struggling musician are over...But I still love playing and writing...Even if it's just for me...I'm working on getting all my demos downloaded and on a play-list...hopefully soon...

So for tonight...In honor of Mrs. Beeze....

"I'll Behave"

Never learned to walk,
so he crawls...
Imagines all the questions,
on the ceiling and the walls...

Never learned to stand,
so he falls...
I line...
And he says...

I'll Behave...
I swear that I'll behave...
this time...
I'll behave...
I sweeeaaarrr...

Keeps her in the corner,
of his heart...
Tricks her into thinking,
that he doesn't want to go to hell...
Locks her up in his heart...
And throws away the key...
Then he says...

I'll Behave...
I swear that I'll behave...
this time...
I'll behave...
I sweeeaaarrr...

(Musical interlude)

I'll Behave...
I swear that I'll behave...
this time...
I'll behave...
I sweeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrr...

I will behave...

I will be-have....

(End)

Ooouuuch!!!!!!!

Yes, I'm a perv...And yes, I often share too much...My wife thinks so at least...But that's just how I am...Sorry honey...For better or worse right!?!
-
So tonight, I saw my penis flash before my eyes...Not literally...Let me explain...We've all heard or read the stories about guys who have broken their penis right? Well if you haven't, it's happened...Hell I knew a guy it happened to...We started calling his wife "Iron Pelvis" after that...
-
Anyway...Tonight Mrs. Beeze and I were getting on, as we often do...When I say often, I mean more then most of our marred friends do...But not as much as I want to...Let's put it this way...I ask for it at least 10 times a day...That's a minimum of 70 times a week she has me pestering her for it...If she says yes 4 times in week...That's 4 nights I'm getting some...Which considering she works at least 60 hours a week, and has two kids wanting her non-stop attention when she gets home...Then she has me grabbing her ass, and tweaking her nipples, and saying "let's do it" constantly...That's pretty good...And I know it's better then a number of our friends...
-
So back to the sex...We're going at it strong...She's on top...I could tell she was close (to orgasm)...then she did this move...And my c*ck bent in a way that an erect c*ck shouldn't bend...I believe what I said next was..."OW, F**K! F**K! F**k!
-
Then there was a bit of worry...I checked...I checked again...It was okay...hurting a bit...But okay...She apologized a number of times...Then I said "fix it"...She was nervous...But I said, "get back on here"....
-
From there it became a hard angry ride...I guess I felt the need to prove I wasn't hurt...I was working hard...We both got where we were going...And afterward she had a good laugh about the loud angry noises I was making as I was cumming...Then she went to check to see if we woke the kids...Nope...Or they were just pretending, because they were scared...I checked myself again...I'm doing good...
-
After that we went downstairs and watched Rescue Me...Now she's sleeping and writing all of this for some reason that I can't really explain...I'm sure I'll have to tomorrow when she reads it at work...Then calls me and tells me I'm an asshole...In that loving way that only she can.
