The Beeze's College Football Pick'em (week 10)
Last week I didn't post a Pick'em...There were only 2-3 games I liked, and didn't even like them that much...One of the things I learned about gambling from my father was, don't bet just to bet...If you aren't feeling it...Don't do it...So I didn't...But this week, I'm feeling it...So here we go...
- Texas Tech at West Virginia...
This series is tied at two games each, so we don't have much history to work with...What we do have is this is a Big 12 game...Almost all of the Big 12 lacks defense...And we know Tech loves to chuck it, and try to score points...West Virginia is a 8 point favorite...Take the Red Raiders plus the 8 points...
- Duke at North Carolina...
UNC has won 22 of the last 25...But I am still surprised to see Duke as a 7.5 point underdog...Coming off getting royally screwed by the refs in that Miami game, I like Duke...Think about this...If Duke wins out, and then wins the conference championship, the playoff committee kind of has to ignore that Miami loss, since the ACC admitted Duke should have won...Duke is angry...Duke is on a mission...Take Duke plus the 7.5 points...
- Notre Dame at Pittsburgh...
Since 1988 the Irish lead this series 15-5...ND knows they need to win out, and will need help to get into the playoff conversation...And Pittsburgh, isn't that good...Take the Irish minus the 8.5 points...
- Florida State at Clemson...
Florida State has lost 5 of their last 6 at Clemson...This game is huge for both teams...But Clemson needs it...The only way the will get the respect they deserve from the playoff committee is if they are undefeated...The Tigers are a 10.5 point favorite...Normally, against a solid FSU team, I would go with the Seminoles getting that many points...But I'm looking for Clemson to make a statement...A bigger statement then what they made against Notre Dame...I'm taking the risk...I'm taking Clemson minus the 10.5....
- Arizona State at Washington State...
Washington State is a 3 point favorite...WSU being a favorite is odd...This is strictly giving the home team the bump...ASU is 10-1 in the last 11 meetings...I see the SUn Devils making that 11-1...Take ASU plus the 3 points...
- LSU at Alabama...
Alabama have won the last 4 in this series...But this Alabama team isn't as good as those teams...I think they are overrated...LSU running back Leonard Fournette is out to prove something, and is looking at this game to be the key to his Heisman run...I don't even have to think about this...I'm taking the Tigers plus the 6.5 points...
- Bonus pick...
-Navy at Memphis....
Navy is a 7.5 point underdog...With the way they play, I would like to take those points...But this is Memphis...How powered offense, and a team not getting the respect they deserve...Take Memphis minus the 7.5 points...
Good luck....Beat the bookie!

The Beeze's College Football Pick'em (week 8)
Well, after taking last week off for the big move, I'm back with a few more picks...There's not a lot I like this week, so this one will be short and sweet...
-Texas A&M at Ole Miss...
Ole Miss is 1-6 against A&M, with the win coming last season...The Rebels started out the season strong but have faltered mightily...While the Aggies have looked decent this year, I'm not sold...I look for Ole Miss to try and save their season with this game...Not sure if they'll pull out the win, but take the Rebels plus the 5.5 points...
- Kansas State at Texas...
Texas comes into this game as a 7 point favorite...I think Texas being a favorite against anyone this season is ridiculous...Since '98 K-State is 8-3 against the Longhorns...While the Wildcats are also having a down year, Bill Snyder's teams are always prepared, and he can coach circles around Charlie Strong in his sleep...Take K-State plus the 7 points...
- Iowa State at Baylor...
This is one of the games that scares some people because the spread is so big...But relax...It's Iowa State at Baylor...The Bears need to keep rolling people to make their playoff case, and crap team like the Cyclones is perfect when you're looking to rack up a bunch of points...Take Baylor minus the 37 points...
- Tennessee at Alabama...
'Bama has won 8 straight against the Vols...Tennessee has not won at Alabama since 2003...Everything in the world says take Alabama...But this is one of those goofy times where I just have a feeling...These feeling have struck big before...And they've fucked me before...That's why it's called gambling...Screw it, the Arrested Development song "Tennessee has been playing in my head all week....Take the Volunteers plus the 15 points!
- Utah at USC...
Some how, and I don't give a shit that USC is at home, but some how these dolts are a 3.5 favorite ...I don't need to give you any facts or history...Utah is good, and on a mission...USC is a fucking train-wreck...Take Utah plus the 3.5 points...
That's all the games I've got for ya this week...
Good luck beating the bookie!

Monday Moaning
I feel you bro....I was that fucking tired this weekend too!
Okay...Maybe not that tired...I may have been able to wake up for that party!
I'll be honest right from the top...I really don't have much in the way of sports...I posted my WEEKLY HAT TRICK a couple days late...I knew just what I wanted to write about, but with Friday being the big moving day, I just couldn't get to it...I thought maybe Friday night...But by the time I got the chance sit down, and not worry about anything, I was just wiped out like that dude above...And there was still plenty more to do Saturday...
Here's Molly and Finnegan settling in at the "pizza slice" table as Molly named it...
...I did see the second half of the Notre Dame and USC game Saturday night...I was glad to see the Irish pull out the win...We often see a team in a fucked up situation like USC, come out with another level of emotion that helps inspire them to a win...And the ND defense again showed lapses, but nutted up in the 4th quarter...
What a fucking mess at USC...How is Pat Haden still the the AD there...How is it the AD is the only guy who doesn't know Steve Sarkisian is fucking drunk...Not some softy drunk...A real drunk...him and a couple assistants knocking back 8 shots and 5 beers at 11:30 AM before going to recruit kids kind of drunk...Then Haden is going to act surprised when he hears Sarkisian coached a game shitfaced...And showed up to practices, and meetings in the bag...Fuck you Haden...
This guy has had 4 head football coaches in 4 years...And the best one, Ed Orgeron, he let walk, because Orgeron wasn't a big enough or sexy enough name to be coaching at USC...Who fucking cares if the team played it's best under him...Haden in 2013 also shit-canned his baseball coach 3 days before the season started, because of a NCAA rules violation that limit the number of hours players can do activities supervised by coaches...Again this was a case of Haden acting late...Instead of being on top of his coaches and making sure they don't screw up, he didn't act until the shit hit the fan...
Haden was going to be the guy to turn USC around and get things back on track and raise the bar again...Instead, Haden and USC are still shitting the bed...Good! Fuck'em!
Sunday rolled around, and I could have watched some football, but we all know I hate those fuckers...Plus, I wasn't really excited by my choices...Now living in Erie, PA. I am pinned between Cleveland, Buffalo and Pittsburgh...My one o'clock options were the Browns game and the Steelers game...NO THANK YOU!
So we hung out...Relaxed a little...Unpacked some more stuff...My wife's friend and her son who is little Beeze's age came over to hang a bit...It was a solid lazy day...
After my wife and oldest were done watching the stupid Walking Dead, I got the good TV to watch the second half of the only NFL game I wanted to see...The Patriots at the asshole Colts...I was confident the Patriots would win, but because of what I have learned about gambling from my father, I was more intrigued...The Patriots were only a 7.5 point favorite (that was the line when I looked Thursday)...many of us expected the Patriots to destroy the Colts...So seeing this line made me skeptical...It seemed to low...My Uncle John taught my Dad, and my dad taught me...If a line looks really out of wack stay away, the Line-makers know something you don't...I expected the line on this game to be at least 10 points, if not more...Well, if you felt confident with the Pats minus 7.5, sorry folks...
That's it for now...Have a week!

The Beeze's College Football Pick'em (week 6)
While the Cheerleaders looked okay, the Georgia Bulldogs fell flat on their face against Alabama last week...Typical of a Mark Richt team...Can they bounce back? Let's see....
- Georgia at Tennessee....
The Volunteers are 4-12 over the last few years hosting SEC rivals...Georgia has won the 5 straight against Tennessee...And that streak will go to 6...Now that there is no pressure, the Bulldogs will get back on track and roll Tennessee...Take Georgia minus the 3 points...
- Washington at USC (Thursday night)....
Seriously, I have no faith that the Huskies will win this game...But they are getting 17 points...I like +17 points in this game...Take the Huskies with the points as they hang with the Trojans for awhile...
- Oklahoma at Texas (Dallas)....
Let's be honest...I don't care how big the rivalry crap is...Texas stinks...The program is in shambles...Take the Sooners minus the 17 points...They're going to take the Longhorns apart...(Texas should be getting use to that)
- Miami (Ohio) at Ohio University....
"The Battle of the Bricks"...Homecoming at Ohio....Miami has lost 4 straight in Athens...The Bobcats have won 8 of the last 9 meetings...I like Ohio to win again...But, I'll take Miami plus the 16 points...
- Georgia Tech at Clemson....
the Home team has 9 of the last 10 meetings...GT is 8-4 in the last 11 meetings...They played twice in 2009...Will Clemson have a letdown after the big win against Notre Dame? Will their defense be able to handle the Yellowjackets offense? The bookmakers think so, since they have Clemson as a 7 point favorite...I think they will win, but I'll take Georgia Tech plus the 7 points...
-Navy at Notre Dame...
Notre Dame leads this series 75-12-1...They've split the last 4 meetings...Navy never quits, and plays tough...They always make the Irish earn it...They will again...But I see the Irish getting back on track after last week's loss...Take ND minus the 14 points...
- Northwestern at Michigan...
Northwestern is 1-21 in Ann Arbor...That is horrible...just horrible...How could I even consider picking them...Easily...Michigan beat up on Maryland last week...Let's not forget, this isn't lacrosse...Bowling Green spanked Maryland...Northwestern will give Michigan a tough fight and may take it...Take Northwestern plus the 7.5 points...
- East Carolina at BYU...
This is ECU's longest regular season road trip since 1993...BYU is 19-5 versus current AAC teams...That includes being 9-0 at home against those teams...Tough to go against that....I'll take East Carolina plus the 8 points...
- Miami at Florida State...
The last 9 meetings, the visitor is 7-2...11 of the last 14 games have been decided by a TD or less...All that, combined with me having all the confidence that Everett Golson is due for one of his turnover filled games...Take Miami plus the 9 points...
- Cal at Utah....
I have no stats or facts here...I just don't care...I have bought all in with the Utah Utes...Take Utah minus the 7 points...
Good luck...Beat the bookie!

The Beeze's College Football Pick'em (week 4)
Last week I won 3...lost 1...and 1 push...
Let's see what we do this week...
- BYU at Michigan....
Okay, Michigan who isn't overly impressive, while the home team, is a 6.5 point favorite...I think that is crazy...I think BYU bounce back from their loss to UCLA last week...Take BYU plus the 6.5 points
- Georgia Tech at Duke...
Duke is 3-22 versus the Georgia Tech...It's not going to get better this week...GT is another team looking to bounce back from a tough loss...Take the Yellow Jackets minus the 7.5 points...
-Bowling Green at Purdue...
This week the Falcons are the favorite...It doesn't matter, I'm still taking them...Purdue blows...Bowling Green minus 5.5 points...
- Rice at Baylor....
Baylor has won 6 straight against Rice...And I feel confident that the Bears can take the Owls again...But Baylor doesn't understand what defense is...Take Rice plus the 34.5 points...
- Ohio University at Minnesota...
I don't even need to pull up any stats or history, or any of that bullshit...Minnesota ain't nothing to write home about...Ohio is a solid MAC team...Take the Bobcats plus the 10 points...
- Miss State at Auburn...
Auburn has proven that they walked into the season grossly overrated...yet they are a 3 point favorite....Miss State is 3-11 as a visitor...Can they turn it around? Yes...The Bulldogs will win straight up, but go ahead and take those 3 points too...
- UCLA at Arizon...
The visitor is 3-8...UCLA is 13-23 on the road in versus PAC-12 foes...But in the end it comes down to the better team...I'm going with UCLA minus 3 points.
-Utah at Oregon...
Utah is is 4-9 against ranked teams since joining the PAC-12...This one should be the game to watch...These teams will slug it out...the Utes are better then people expected, and Oregon is good, but not where they have been in past years...Take Utah plus the 12 points...
Good luck...

The Beeze's College Pick'em (week 3)
This week's pick'em is going to be shorter...There just aren't that many games I like...And you don't bet just to bet...You gotta be smart about it...Last week I was right on 75% of my games...I'm not going to throw a bunch a games out there for ya if I wouldn't bet them myself...We'll start this week with a tough one...
-Georgia Tech at Notre Dame....
GT walks into South Bend as 2.5-3 point favorite...They are only the favorite because of the loss of Irish starting QB, Malik Zaire...That said, with or without Zaire, this game was always going to hinge on how well the Irish defense plays against the pesky Tech offense...GT is 8-3 in road openers...The Irish have a commanding lead in this series, with a 27-6-1 record...The Yellow jackets will push Notre Dame...This game will come down to the wire...I think the Irish can pull it out...Take them getting the 3 points...
-Memphis at Bowling Green...
Yep, Bowling Green has become my go-to to team when looking at games to bet...The Falcons put up points...They can run with almost anyone...BGSU is 8-1 hosting non-conference teams since 2010...Memphis is a helluva team flying under most people's radar...They can rack up the points as well...But I think they may meet their match this week...Take the Falcons getting 3 points....
-Northern Illinois at Ohio State...
NIU is 5-4 versus Big Ten schools over the last six years...Ohio State is 19-0 against MAC schools since 2000, but they have had a number of issues covering the spread...NIU isn't Hawaii...They'll put up a fight...Take the Huskies plus the 35 points...
-BYU at UCLA...
These are two really good teams...And if we have learned anything over the first two weeks of the season, when it comes to BYU, throw all the analytics out the window...AND, and don't care who they are playing, there is no logical reason to have them as 16.5 point underdog...This game will be on TV at 10:30 (est)...Take BYU plus the 16.5 points and enjoy the hell out of the show these two teams put on...
-There are other big games...Ole Miss at Alabama...'Bama is a 7 point favorite...I just don't trust them yet, and I'm not sure what to think of Ole Miss yet...I'm leaving this game alone...
-Stanford at USC...The Trojans are a 10 point favorite...But these PAC-12 games some times turn into a slugfest...Stanford has a lot to prove...The Gambler in me would take USC, but right now, I'm leaving it alone...
-The last game I'll talk about...
Auburn at LSU...
LSU is 9-5 versus Auburn, and on a 7-0 stretch when hosting the Tigers...LSU is a 7 point favorite...I expect Auburn to come out with a lot of fire after nearly losing to Jacksoville State last week...Then there is the Les Miles factor...While he is a good coach, he has an incredible knack to make stupid mistakes/decision, that often fuck over the gambler or the bookie...I'll take Auburn getting the 7 points...
Good luck!

The Beeze's College Football Pick'em (week 2)
Well, last week with the spread I went about .500...I put too much faith in Texas hanging in the game against Notre Dame...Won't make that mistake again! So let's get right into this week's games...
- Utah State at Utah (Friday)...
The home team has won the last three meetings between these to state rivals...Utah State's last win in Salt Lake City was '97...The Aggies should be good this year...And the Utes are coming off a big season opening win over Michigan...Will there be a hangover? I think Utah wins, but I'll take State with the 12 points...
- Bowling Green at Maryland...
BGSU is 6-17 versus the Big Ten...They went 1-1 last year...Maryland has started the last three seasons 2-0...But I was really impressed with how the Falcons ran with Tennessee last week...If this was lacrosse I'd take Maryland, but it's football! Take Bowling Green plus the 7.5 points!
- Buffalo at Penn State....
Penn State is coming off a bitter defeat to Temple...I fully expect them to bounce back and win this game...But I don't think they and their QB, Christian Hackenberg are as good as the hype has lead people to believe...Buffalo is 2-15 in road openers...But they have a good new coach in Lance Leipold who will get that program on track...Take Buffalo plus the 19.5 points...
- UTEP at Texas Tech...
UTEP has lost the last six meetings between these two teams...Last years game was a shootout, that saw the Minors 3 TD lead...I expect this one to be another shootout...Texas Tech doesn't know what defense is, and gives the Miners hope...I'll take UTEP plus the 20.5 points...
-Notre Dame at Virginia...
Virginia are 9-3 in home openers...The Irish have a bad record in the first road game (not neutral site) of the season...But that won't be a factor this year...While I'm a total Irish fan, I wasn't all in with the pre-season hype...After last week, I'm buying in a bit more...The Irish are gonna roll...Take Notre Dame minus the 11 points...
- Iowa at Iowa State...
Rivalry game here...The last 4 games between these two teams have been decided by 6 points or less...And these games often come down to the wire...What this comes down to is, Iowa State isn't that good...The home field advantage can only do so much...The Hawkeyes aren't a powerhouse themselves, but they're better...I'll take the risk...Iowa minus 3 points...
- Oklahoma at Tennessee...
The Sooners are 2-1 against the Volunteers...This is their first time to Knoxville...Oklahoma has won five straight, non-conference road games, and are 14-3 in road openers since 1998...Tennessee has won 20 straight home openers...After watching the Vols struggle with BGSU for 3 quarters, that streak ends this week, and the Sooners win...Take Oklahoma minus the 2 points...
-Oregon at Michigan State...
Between these two teams, the home team is 5-0...Michigan State has won 16 straight home openers...Oregon played sloppy early in this game last year, but recovered...I expect they'll play a cleaner game, and eventually, they're have more gas left in the tank...The streaks will end...Take the Ducks plus the 3 points...
-Game I won't touch at all....Boise State at BYU...It's on at 10:15 PM (est) and may be a fun one to watch...
Good luck!

The Beeze's College Football Pick'em (week 1)
Good looking form there...
And hopefully this weekly post will help you give it to some one...Like your bookie...Screw on-line gambling...I'm old school...I learned the gambling business when I was a little kid...My dad did some collections for extra money when we were young, and I would go with him to pick up "football tickets" and drop them off on Fridays...He did some gambling himself...and taught me his simple rules...
1. Don't bet the mortgage/rent.
2. Don't bet the grocery money.
3. Don't bet the kids tuition.
4. Don't bet with your heart. (took me a bit to get that)
5. Don't try to recover your loses with one big bet you can't cover/afford.
6. Don't bet on Monday Night Football...It was created for the Bookies.
Now that we have those tips out of the way...Let's get to the games I've picked for this week...(and no I won't be picking any of those cream-puff games...just real games that should be at least slightly competitive.) The lines I'm using are are as of right now.
- TCU at Minnesota (Thursday)
TCU is 7-3 in road openers and average a 19 point margin of victory...Last year against Minnesota they forced 5 turnovers.
Minnesota is 17-3 in home openers...They are 12-6 when hosting a non-conference opponent...Over the last three years, they are on a 9-0 run hosting non-conference opponents...That run comes to an end this week...Take TCU minus the points. (17)
-Michigan at Utah (Thursday)
Utah is 20-4 in home openers...Michigan hasn't started the season with a road victory since 1995...In the last 15 years Michigan is 3-8 in regular season, non-conference away games...I don't care what big mouth Jim Harbaugh says, the Michigan turnaround won't start this week...Take Utah, minus the points... (4.5)
-Washington at Boise State (Friday)
This will be Washington's first time on the Blue Turf...The Huskies are 2-11 in road openers...This is also Head Coach Chris Peterson's first time back to Boise State where he had a 48-2 record on the blue turf...Washington is going to lose, but take them plus the points...(12)...Peterson and his team will hang in there...
-Auburn vs. Louisville (Atlanta)
Louisville is 17-33-1 versus the SEC...This is their first opener not at home since 2005...Auburn has played in Atlanta 4 times since 2010 and have a 3-1 record...Auburn will make that 4-1 as they have too much firepower for the trendy Louisville pick...Take the Tigers minus the points...(10.5)
-Arizona State at Texas A&M (Houston)
ASU is 1-6 in road openers...They are 3-9 versus SEC teams...(not that I fully count A&M as a SEC team yet...It's a mental thing)....The Aggies are 5-7 in road/neutral site openers, but they have won 3 straight...This is one of those games I look at and say, 'leave it alone!' Yeah, I wouldn't touch this game, but screw it...It's called gambling for a reason....Take the Sun Devils plus the points! (3.5)
-Wisconsin vs. Alabama (Arlington)
Wisconsin had a streak of 16 straight season opening wins until last year...Alabama has won 13 straight season openers...This is their 4th neutral site opener (3-0)...I think Alabama is over-hyped this year...They'll probably win this one, but take the Badgers with the points...(10.5)
-Texas at Notre Dame
The Irish are 8-2 vs. Texas, winning the last 4 meetings...They are 15-4 in home/season openers since 1995...Texas is 1-2 in South Bend, Indiana...That win was in 1934...The Longhorns are 12-2 in road openers, losing the last 2...
This is that point when I have to listen to that don't bet with your heart rule...Texas is getting better, they're on their way back...But Notre Dame wins this game...
...That said, take Texas with the points...(10)
-Ohio State at Virginia Tech (Monday)
Virginia Tech is 18-1 in home openers...Ohio State is 7-2 since 2006 in road openers...When seeking revenge from a previous season's loss, the Buckeyes are 8-0 since 2010...The average margin of victory in those games is 14 points...The Hokies will hang in there with the home field advantage for the first half, maybe...But it won't last...Take Ohio State minus the points...(11)
Good luck, and enjoy the football...
disclaimer: I and this website are not responsible for any losses you take because you may be a degenerate gambler, an idiot, or may be dealing in illegal activities...These are just merely my thoughts on how I would bet, if I did that type of thing.

Monday Moaning
Well, there are going to be some changes happening with the Cleveland Indians...After a week or so of Indians President/former GM, Mark Shapiro telling all of the media he wasn't going anywhere...As I write this post, the final details are being hammered out that will see Shapiro leave, and take the role of President for the Toronto Blue Jays...
Blue Jays president Paul Beeston is retiring...Beeston was the 'Jays first employee in 1976...Shapiro has been with the Indians since 1992, and was the GM from 2001-2010...Then he was promoted to President...Shapiro is highly respected in the baseball world for his eye for talent, and how he has managed a tight budget over the years...Shapiro is also on MLB's competition committee...He also oversaw the recent renovation to Progressive Field...The Blue Jays are planning on some major changes to the Rogers Centre...These plans may have helped to make the job attractive to Shapiro, as well as Shapiro attractive to the Jays...
Toronto made a huge splash at the trade deadline...And now are making a splash upstairs...
Personally, I wasn't much of a Shapiro fan...He held onto former Manager Eric Wedge too long...He traded Cliff Lee after winning the Cy Young, a year before he had to for a handful of players...Only one who is left and just panning out this year in Carrasco...He traded C.C. Sabathia after his Cy Young, for a slug Matt LaPorta (an elite prospect) and got Michael Brantley as a throw in...Brantley clearly has panned out well, but he was called a throw in...Sounds like dumb luck...Enough dumb luck to make people forget that LaPorta was a "can't miss player"...He traded Victor Martinez a year before he had to, for squat...
The best move he made was getting out of the GM role...Chris Antonetti has done well as GM...I'm not sure how much of the hiring of Terry Francona falls on Shapiro, but I'll put that up there as his second best move...
Speaking of Francona, there has already been fear that he would use his opt-out clause to possibly follow Shapiro to Toronto...Francona has already come out and said that he has no intention of doing something like that...Who knows, that could be just more bullshit, that we normally get in sports...Although, I have a lot more respect for Francona, and would trust his word more then Shapiro...
-Cubs pitcher Jake Arrieta just threw this season 6th no-hitter, striking out 12...I hadn't looked at Arrieta as an ace, but he clearly has become the Cubs ace, and not Jon Lester...The guy was a inconsistent pitcher with good stuff, while with the Orioles, and now he has put it all together...Only problem for the Cubs, which is the same problem the Pirates have been having...Both these teams have been playing incredible baseball, and they can't catch the St. Louis Cardinals,(best record in baseball) who keep plugging along no matter who gets injured...Which has got to be about half their team now...So I guess Washington can't really fall back on the injury excuse anymore...
-While I was writing this post, and checking twitter, I was feeling ready to puke in my soup, as so many people are on social media talking about the MTV Video Music Awards...Which apparently are mostly about female pop stars trying see who can look like the biggest whore...And how can they have a Video Music Awards show, when MTV hasn't shown a music video in 15 fucking years...My God this world sucks!
-I'm getting warmed up for Football season...I laughed when I saw Illinois FIRED their head football coach 8 days before the season begins...I've got 7 games picked out for this first week of college football to help you gamblers out...I'll be posting that Wednesday night so you're ready for those Thursday games...And then I did my fantasy football draft...I didn't want to play...Because I hate the NFL, and am doing what I can to avoid their shit...But Sully made me, so I said screw it...I'll win this bitch...Here's what NFL.com thought of my draft...
Suck it fellas!
-I'll close with this...As a Notre Dame fan, I really like reading THIS...I was always a Tom Zbikowski, but had no idea his life after football went this way...He down a hole, but is finding redemption...He didn't waste all of his NFL money...And he didn't waste all of his money from his undefeated boxing career...But he still needs the adrenaline...And he wants to do something important...He's a Chicago Firefighter now...His father Ed said...
"Now, he doesn’t have 80,000 people cheering for him and 30 million people watching him. It’s easy to be a hero when people are watching you, but to be a hero when nobody’s watching you and it’s 2 o’clock in the morning and you get a call?
“If you took his greatest knockout or the greatest game he has ever played, none of that will save a person’s life. You can score 100 touchdowns, and that won’t compare to saving someone’s life.’’
And Zbikowski isn't done there...He has more goals...Click that link for good read...
Have a week...

8. General a Rod (27-1)
9. Vinceremos (42-1)

16. Intense Holiday (10-1)
17. Commanding Curve (23-1)
18. Candy Boy (16-1)
19. Ride On Curlin (13-1)
20. Wicked Strong (9-1)
21. Pablo Del Monte (scratched)
Now every year the wife, kids, and I pick horses, and have a family bet...But I like to place a couple real bets as well...That said, I'm out of the loop this year...So this year I'm going solely off of the studying I did over the last couple hours...No science here...Just some old fashioned reading, and guess work...
Clearly, California Chrome is the favorite...Favorites suck...No money to make there...Screw that horse...I'm taking 6. Samraat (16-1) to win...A couple people in the know really like this horse...And there's good money to be made...I'm all in...20. Wicked Strong (9-1) to place...Good horse...Good name...Moves into the 19th post position with 11. Hoppertunity scratching...A lot of people liked that horse, but a possible foot injury has taken him out...to show, I'm going with 12. Dance With Fate (16-1)...hey, when you're guessing at horse racing, how can you not take a horse with that name...He should run well, I just hope he'll hold off 5.California Chrome (5-2)....
For a longshot...I like 15. Tapiture (29-1)...I'll probably throw a couple bucks on 17. Commanding Curve (23-1) as well...
Good luck!

Monday Moaning

Yeah, this week we're going to start off talking about the ponies...Saturday was the Preakness Stakes...And just like the Kentucky Derby, it was an exciting finish...Just like in the Derby, Bodemeister jumped out to an early lead, and set the pace...But this time, he held back a bit, and slowed it down some from the blistering pace he ran in Kentucky...Clearly, jockey Mike Smith wanted to save a some horse for late in the race, knowing that I'll Have Another was lurking closely behind...
And then it happened...As they headed down the home stretch, I'll Have Another's jockey, Mario Gutierrez let his horse loose...But at the same time Bodemeister started surging as well...Both horses left the rest of the field in the dust...For a few seconds, it looked like Bodemeister was going to hold off I'll Have Another...But in the last 100 yards, Gutierrez had a little more left in his horse, and I'll Have Another won by a neck...
Just a great race...And now Horse Racing has a chance at seeing a Triple Crown Winning horse...But will it happen?
The next race, in Belmont, is also the longest of the three...Will I'll Have Another, have another late race surge in him? Will Bodemeister be setting the pace again? Well kids, you're going to hear it, or read it here first...If Dullahan runs at Belmont, (he didn't run at the Preakness) he'll be your winner...He's a big-time closer...(He was surging late in the Derby as well, and finished a very close 3rd.) He'll also be coming off of 5 weeks of rest after running in the Derby...He should have more in him then Bodemeister and I'll Have Another...Yes, we'd love to see a Triple Crown winner, but I'm telling you, Dullahan is going to win it...
-Now, a couple weeks ago I went off about the local radio hacks blasting Clevelanders for not filling the stadium for Indians games...Then Saturday, Indians closer Chris Perez decided to blast the fans for not turning out...After reading this I felt the need to get on Twitter and let Perez know what I thought...That overrated, overpriced twat..."@ChrisPerez54 You want to rip the fans...Fuck you and die...Pay my kids tuition, and maybe I'll show up to watch you put guys on base cunt!"
Seriously, if Perez wants to pay my kids tuition, pay to keep the roof over my family's heads, and keep food on the table, and keep my Direct TV on, then maybe I'll buy some Indians tickets...Otherwise, fuck off...I don't buy Browns, or Cavaliers tickets either...That shit is just too fucking expensive...It's not in the Budget...
And fuck off again...Guy was pissed because he got booed after losing a game...Grow the fuck up...Half-assed pitchers get booed, especially when they can't handle coming into a tie game, and blow it...Stop putting runners on base, and you won't get shit from the fans...Actually, after your dumb mouth cut loose, you're going to get shit from the fans...
Chris Perez can suck my ass!
-This past week Cleveland's first casino opened up...The city is buzzing about it...Shit one of the cooks at the Steak House has been there few times already...And on opening night he lost $3000...Yep, the economy is shit, and people are blowing money trying to hit it big...Hey, if that's your plan, bet on Dullahan! I don't plan on going there anytime soon...That's also not in the budget, Chris Perez and Tony Zarrella, the Cleveland Sports reporter who blasted people for going to the Casino, and not Indians games...
-This weekend we had fun with the kids...We hit a street fair Saturday...Sunday the Little Beeze and I went to see "The Avengers"...He was pumped to see it...He's a Thor fan, but loved The Hulk smashing Loki...And he became a big fan of Iron Man's smart ass style...(not a surprise)...And of course, it was great to see Scarlett again!
Miss Molly is doing great, and she inspired THIS...
That's it for now...Have a week...

Monday Moaning

So Derby day is always fun for us...I take my children's college fund, and try to make a little extra scratch...I let them play too...Why not get them started young...The boy...The famous, little Beeze, was the only one to make any money this weekend...He put all his money an Paddy O'Prado, so he made a few bucks...Now he has another reason to bust balls!
After the race we stopped at a great little place called Sara's ...Old school in every way...It has a classic drive-in feel...Excellent burgers, and dogs...The best onion rings...Great fries...Even better shakes...And the prices are great...Especially after you blew too much money at the track!
Awhile later, we got the kids to bed, and told grandma and grandpa, "see ya later!" We headed out for snack...A little pricier than Sara's...Without a doubt the best restaurant in Erie...AltoCucina
We both got our favorite appetizer, Fontinella Cacchione...Baked Fontinella cheese in puff pastry topped with mushroom ragu...Incredible...We sat at the bar, eating, me drinking, and watching the Cavs vs. the Celtics...These people were rooting for the Cavs...Then after some chit-chat, and it came out that I was from Cleveland...The questioned my green Boston red Sox cap...I had to inform them, that until Mark Shapiro is fired, I won't be Johnny Indians fan...Then I was asked if I was rooting for the Celtics..."Yep!"
They questioned this also..."How could I not want 'The King to get a Ring'?" Okay, first, I'm really sick of this f**king slogan...People in Cleveland and God knows where else, all acting like LeBron James has suffered through a 15 year career with no shot at a title...Bitch please, grow the hell up!
Second, there is only one king! Elvis...Costello!
F**k Elvis Presley! That no good, hillbilly, lump of shit...All he did was take other people's songs and shake his ass...
Third, I'm a hockey, fan and could really care less about basketball...But I bet on the Celtics, just to piss off some co-workers!
Fourth, I'm sick of the LeBron love fest! Everyone wants to tel you what a great young, man he is...Let me give you a couple tidbits you may not know...He's a shitty tipper...When you work in the restaurant biz, that's a big deal...Rich douches that tip for shit, can go eat a dick!
Now let me ask you this...How many kids does Lebron have? The media would like you to believe 2...they don't talk about the other one...Who's mother was paid off, and told to shut and and go away..."The King" isn't so squeaky clean people...And he isn't "The King."
LBJ, you want to be the king? Meet me on the ice!
Speaking of Ice...The NHL Playoffs continue to not disappoint...In the West, San Jose has taken a 2-0 series lead over the Red Wings...Could the Sharks actually be putting it all together? Vancouver is is up 1-0 on Chicago...Both teams have good firepower, but the Canucks have the advantage between the pipes...
In the East, Montreal and Pittsburgh are tied at 1 game each...This one looks like it may go seven games...Saturday the Boston Bruins took a 1-0 lead on the Philadelphia Flyers after a game winning, overtime goal by Marc Savard...That's the way to come back from a serious head injury!
Last, the wife and I are taking suggestions in the name department...I'm sure it will be easier once we find out if it's a boy or girl...Right now, on top of the boys list is, Finn...On top of the girls list is, Anna...Let us know what you think.
Nothing like pounding away while she snacks, and people talk shit to ya!
Have a great week...
Later, The Beeze.
