Mr. and Mrs. Hamilton: Bad Sports Parents
When during the off-season, the Boston Bruins traded young, talented Defenseman, Dougie Hamilton, Bruins fans were shocked, and not happy...It appeared that negotiations for a contract extension broke down...When the Flames reached a deal with Hamilton after the trade, Bruins fans were scratching their heads, seeing that the numbers were not that far apart...Well, the picture is getting clearer this week...
Tuesday it came out that Hamilton wanted out of Boston because the Bruins had refused to trade for his Freddie, who is with the San Jose Sharks...
Today, even more came out on the Toucher and Rich show on 98.5 in Boston...CSNNE's John Haggerty was on the show Wednesday morning, talking Bruins and was asked about the Hamilton reports...Haggerty had said he hadn't heard the 'trade for my brother' story, but did suggest that Hamilton's parents may have been a major factor in the Bruins trading Dougie boy...
“What I did hear was that his parents were heavily involved in his career probably more so than you see with most guys who are 21, 22 years old, and there was some push-back because there were phone calls made to the Bruins organization, or there was some involvement in the way he was being used and things like that.”
The guys pushed, and asked if Haggerty was saying that Hamilton's parents were calling the Bruins and complaining about how he was used, Haggerty reiterated that they were “heavily involved in his career”...He also added that the parents have been "heavily involved" in Freddie’s career...
As a parent, I can understand being fully concerned about your kids, and their career...Especially when it is a career that can be very lucrative, but also very short lived...But there is a line, and these people seem to be going way past it...This isn't Little League...Hell, it's not even college...And college programs wouldn't put up with this shit...It's the NHL...The elite...The best of the best, and Mom and Dad are calling the management to complain because their boy isn't getting enough minutes...'Why isn't my Dougie on the penalty kill?' Why isn't little Dougie boy a top-2 Defenseman?'
This shit is ridiculous...And now that it's coming out, Hamilton is going to get some serious ball-busting...Especially next time he comes to Boston...
Grow up Dougie...Tell Mom and Dad to mind their own business!

It's Time to Start Giving Dads Some Respect
This is something that has bothered me for a little while now, but it really got stirred up today...With the kids switching schools, I had to stop by the Pediatrician's office and get their Immunization records...On the counter they had a stack of magazines called "Baby Talk" with a note saying "Free, take one!" So I did...Later in the evening I sat down on the crapper and started taking a look at this magazine...There was something that was really standing out to me, and I couldn't shake it...
It was totally geared towards moms...Now, I'm not here to dump all over moms, or my wife...She's great, and I'm sure you're all great...But 99% of the ads were aimed at mom...The articles, aimed at mom...The staff was moms...There was one male writer, who writes a blog for the company...He got a one page blurb in the back...It started out on the same path as I'm on, but finished weak, basically telling all the Dads like me to relax, and stop looking for any credit for being active fathers, because of the years and years of our fathers, and grandfathers reclining in their chairs, and drinking beers while mom took care of everything...
Well, I'm here to say, kiss my ass!
In our oldest daughter's first couple years, I was working 70 hours a week...My wife wasn't just the primary care-giver...She was the care-giver...Then here career path started to change for the better...She was climbing the corporate ladder...My career path has always sucked...So I stared working less, while she worked more...We now had two kids and were splitting the care giving duties evenly...
Now she makes 3 times what I do...I have cut my hours to just 30 a week...I get the kids ready in the morning...Off to school, and take the baby to the sitter...I go to work, and slam out some food to people in a much higher tax bracket then I...I pick up the kids...Often we hit a park...Help with the homework...I make dinner, or at least place the order...I do the dishes...We split up the baby's bath time...She does more laundry then me, but I do some...I put the baby to sleep...I have always gotten up with the baby...(I also handled the majority of the Little Beeze's getting up in the night when he was a baby)...She hasn't gotten up with the baby since her maternity leave ended...(the baby is almost 2, but I can't stop calling her a baby yet)...It's best for everyone if my wife gets a good nights sleep...
I take the kids to their doctors appointments...Dentist, and eye doc too...I coach the baseball team...I'm the one that deals with the teachers, or principal, if necessary...If they get hurt, I'm cleaning up the blood and patching them up...I would say, that at this point in time, I'm the primary care-giver...And I have no problem with it...I love it actually...But with the exception of a few blogs out there, written by dads, about dads, for dads, the rest of the world gives no credit to us hard working, active dads...
90% of the fathers portrayed on television, are made out to look like bumbling asses...Dolts that have no clue how to take care of their kids, and have no idea what is going on in their lives...They'll make a dad on TV struggle with changing a diaper...Let me tell you this, I can change some fucking diapers...If my wife puts the diaper on, there's going to be a leak some where...No mine...I put that little ass on lock-down...Nothings seeping out!
I know dads like me are in the minority, but there are more than you think...It would be nice to see "Baby Talk" and "Parenting" magazines show some love towards dad...It would also be great to see dads shown on TV in a more realistic light, instead of still being stuck in some 1950's stereotypical bullshit...And I'll also say this...These days, even the dads that are the primary bread-winners are a lot more active with their kids, then they were way back in the day...
It's time to give Dads some credit, and respect...Mom is awesome...My wife is an amazing woman, and a great mother...But I'm pretty fucking sweet too! (hey, I'm willing to toot my own horn!)

Parent Means More Then Just Having Kids

Look at these two assholes...Yes, my opinion has been made, and these two, with out a doubt, are assholes...Tangie Jackson on the left, and Ricky Singleton on the right, will not be winning any parent of the year awards...Hell, Tangie doesn't even deserve to hear the words Happy Mother's Day...
The Cincinnati couple was charged with Child Endangerment and Tampering with Evidence, this week...Apparently Singleton after a rough day passed out, and had left his gun on the bed...His step-children, a 7 year old girl, and a 3 year old boy found it, and were playing with it...
What ya think happened next? Of course the fucking gun went off...They're easier for a kid to figure out, then a child-proof lighter...The 7 year old girl had been shot...When these two dumb-ass "parents" realize what happened, they don't call for an ambulance...They don't rush to the hospital...They made the kids walk a half mile, and then call 9-1-1...Their plan was for the kids to say that she was an innocent victim of a drive-by...
Luckily, the police could smell the bullshit a half mile away...And kids 7 and 3 aren't the best liars...
There is a reason I'm not a cop...Because I'd have a hard time not being judge, jury, and executioner...If I would have been the arresting officer, I would have considered offing these two shit-bags...They seriously don't deserve to breathe, let alone be called "parents"...
Getting knocked up doesn't make you a parent...Shooting loads doesn't make you a parent...Popping out kids doesn't make a you a parent...Teaching your kids, protecting them, helping them know right from wrong, showing them what love is...These two fuck-stains are not parents.

It's Your Responsibility Not Your Job
lately I've heard too much talk about women being mothers, and calling it a job...Then today I saw these two women talking about studies on stay at home moms vs. working moms...But they kept referring to being a mother as a job...THIS was the one woman...I wasn't impressed with her non-stop smiling, and her upbeat tone, about how moms who work, are better at their job as a mother...
First, I have no problem with working mothers...My mom went back to work, when I was in 2nd grade, and it didn't effect me...She wasn't ant better or worse of a mother...But also, there was my Dad...Remember Dad...The other parent...When mom went to her 9-5 job, he switch his schedule, to 4-midnight...So there was always a parent around...So that some one was there if we needed it...
In my early years of fatherhood, I worked 70 hours a week, and my wife stayed home with the baby...Then she got a good job, and I switched jobs, to work less hours, and be home more...Now she is the primary bread winner, and I am the primary care giver...I get them ready and off to school...Go to work...Pick them up...Play at the park...Do homework with them...Make dinner...Wash the dishes...I get up with the baby at night...I am the Mr. Mom...
Guess what? I don't call being a father, my job...I've never heard a father say that...Ladies, it's not your job to be a parent...It's your responsibility! Once a guy unloads into a woman, what comes next, is his responsibility...Once you let a guy unload in you, what happens nest, is a responsibility...Can it be tough? Yes...Could it tire you out like work? Yes...Is it you job? NO! There's no paycheck involved...Just the hope that you didn't screw these kids up to bad!
It's time to man-up ladies!
Maybe I haven't explained my displeasure well...But I hope some one out there gets it...For a laugh, here's Bill Burr's take on Stay at Home Moms...
Later, The Beeze.
