Why Are the Cleveland Indians Dragging Their Feet?

Ok, now that I've gotten the click-bait pic out of the way, since either pictures of hot women or sunsets draw more pageviews than the actual words written or a serious picture....

A couple weeks ago I WROTE about the the Cleveland Indians making the decision to look into changing their name as The Washington Redskins were taking heat about their name...Washington has officially changed their name, for now to the Washington Football Team...That's because a really smart dickhead bought up the Trademarks to the top contenders...Dozens of names he owns now...But that's a different story....It was also the right after SEATTLE put on a huge production for their new Hockey team's name and logo...As the kids would say (by kids I mean 25-30-somethings who think they're being cool) IT'S FIRE!

Since the Indians announced they were looking into a name change, people have wrestled with the idea...Shit, I sit here writing this, drinking out of a Indians coffee mug my son got me...

I may have accepted that a name change is a good thing, but it's a good mug, I'm not throwing it away...

Why are people wrestling with it?  Because they have these great memories from childhood, and young adulthood, and even middle aged...Going to games with dad...taking your kids to their first game...those teams in the 90's...Bob Feller...10 cent beer night...But then there's this....

The majority of us realized, and understand that "Blackface" is/was wrong and racist as fuck...Guess what? "Redface" is racist as fuck too! If you dig deep (I hate the term deep dive so I avoid saying that) into history you'll see that the name and logo aren't a good thing...

Since the organization came out talking about a name change, fans and talented artists have pumped out tons of mock-ups for the new name and logo...With The Cleveland Spiders being the front runner...While I don't love it, and my wife hates it because of her fear of spiders, it has a history tied to Cleveland Baseball...

Last week ownership met with players, discussing the name change...Owner, Paul Dolan also told the media, "we will engage Native American leaders to better understand their perspectives, meet with local civic leaders, and continue to listen to the perceptions of our players, fans, partners and employees.”

Dolan continued, “We feel a real sense of urgency to discuss these perspectives with key stakeholders while also taking the time needed to ensure those conversations are inclusive and meaningful.”

Thing is, the team is playing games, with the word Indians across their chests, and Chief Wahoo on their shoulder and it doesn't feel like there is really a sense of urgency...Just ask the Indigenous groups the team said it was going to meet with...The Cleveland American Indian Movement of Ohio told the Washington Post, "They have made statements now that they are going to reach out to the Native community, but no one in the Native community has heard anything from them.” 

Am I and other expecting too much...Is Dolan dragging his feet...The Cleveland Indians brand is 105 years old...The Chief Wahoo cap one consistently one of the top selling for years and years...Rebranding does seem like a big move...I think some fans wanting the name change think it should be done just like ripping off a band-aid, real quick...Once you say you're considering something like that, the people onboard with the idea get geared up and want that instant gratification...

Personally, I think the organization is taking it slow purposely...I think they are hoping for the racial and social tension in this country calm down and the majority of people will forget about all this...I think saying they will discuss a name change was a PR move but they really don't want to change the brand...I expect a few more vague statements and then just hoping it all fades...

I hope I'm wrong...I grew up an Indians fan and I always loved Chief Wahoo...I have so many great memories from Municipal Stadium and Jacob's Field. (yeah I still call it the Jake)...But hey, I'm from Cleveland, and have many friends and family still there...the actual Cleveland Browns are in Baltimore, but everyone was able to move on with the new franchise that held onto the history and name...Cleveland can keep the history of The Indians and move forward with a new name...And maybe some sweet new merch that is thousand times better than the lame-ass block "C"....

If you are protesting anything wearing a mask, I feel you are a coward...If you are protesting stay at home orders and safety measures (like wearing a mask) that are in place to protect you and everyone else from a global pandemic, you are a chicken shit, pussy with no real conviction in your protest...You just want to play army dress up, before you clowns all go back to your militia clubhouse and suck each other off!

There were over 50,000 U.S. deaths in Vietnam...While the death toll was climbing Americans protested to end the war because the cost was too high....Now with the U.S. deaths from COVID19 nearly at 90,000, people are protesting and murdering for having to wear a mask, to practice social distancing and to stay at home...I touched on some of these idiots a few POSTS back....And yes, I did say murdering, as a family was charged in the murder of a store security guard because he told the wife/mother of the family that the store policy was that everyone had to wear a mask to enter the store...So she got her husband and son, and they shot and killed the poor guy...

People are protesting so they can get a haircut...100% truth there are people I know who haven’t gone to church in 30 fucking years posting memes bitching about how they’re not allowed to go to church...People are protesting social distancing and stay at home orders by waving Nazi and Confederate flags...Flags of our enemies...They don’t care that the death toll is too high and still climbing...My how priorities have changed...Jefferson, Lincoln, Roosevelt, (both of the) Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson...and so many more are rolling over in their graves....

America or at least the myth of what America was, always came together in times of crisis...Now we are divided as fuck...I put much of the blame on our idiot, criminal President...HERE'S just one example of his criminal Bullshit...There's MORE and I could give you links for days but, this isn't about that...The issue right now is how he has dealt with COVID, saying one thing that goes along with what doctors and scientists say, and then out of the other side of his mouth he contradicts that...Vocally saying that Governors need to handle how each state deals with it's cases, just to put his full throated support behind these wannabe toy soldiers...But we all know if these were black people showing up armed to the teeth, he would call them thugs and want them locked up...

And he says we are doing great testing and things are looking good...If 90,000 dead is looking good, what the fuck is bad...And about that testing...There are many different tests being used and many aren't FDA approved...And I particularly find it hilarious that the tests that have been being used at the White House, the FDA had to put out an alert because those tests were having an unacceptable amount of False Negatives...33-48% False Negatives!

Moving the fuck along...So all the bitch, moaning and complaining, and asshole protesting convinced many states to start opening up businesses late last week and this weekend...Yes, I get it, no one wants to see the economy tank, but I don't want to die, or see another 90,000 Americans die....So guidelines were given...People are asked to socially distance, and wear masks and be fucking smart and respectful of their fellow human beings...

Personally, I think the opening up is going to be too much, too soon as states were still seeing increases and there is yet to be a prove, clear-cut treatment for this virus...Don't believe me about numbers still rising, because I read pay attention to facts and some don't...Saturday, Texas had it's largest single day increase of COVID cases...

And my old home state of Ohio started lifting restrictions with a number of guidelines...And from the pictures I was seeing on social media, and from family back home, many bars, restaurants and their patrons were not following the social distance guidelines, as people were balls deep in each other...

You know what...I want to scream and yell at these people...But what good would it do...They clearly don't get it that 315,000 people have died worldwide...90,000 in the U.S. and these people are packing in the bars, all up in each other...Fuck it...Maybe I should be rooting for COVID...Thin the fucking idiot herd...

Cyber Monday Moaning

Yep, I'm trying to capitalize on this "Cyber Monday" crap...Get a few extra page-views ain't that right Rosie!?!  Hell, I'm sure Rosie and I grabbed a few extra views by titling Friday's post BLACK_FRIDAY!

These St. Louis Rams...I couldn't tell you who they are based on their numbers...I don't care who they are, because I know what they are...FUCKING IDIOTS!  But so we have it on record...These fucking idiots are named Stedman Bailey, Tavon Austin, Jared Cook, Chris Givens, and Kenny Britt...Could you five fucking idiots, and the countless celebritards, and insane number of dolts out there, please read the transcripts from the 70 hours of grand jury testimony and eveidence...Mike Brown did NOT have his hands up...His buddy admitted it...Admitted he originally lied...So please put this "hands up, don't shoot" bullshit to bed already...

I had said at the start of the season I was done with the NFL, and I am...This is the most I've written on the NFL all year...Hell its' the most I've thought about the NFL...But I have to wonder will they respond...It has already been made clear by some police officials throughout the St. Luis area, that they are not pleased by this stunt...Some view it as a sign of support to those asshole rioters...I agree, and I view it a sign of stupidity and douche-baggery!  Will the league or the Rams apologize? Will they fine these dolts?  I think they'll make the Rams make a lame apology, but won't do shit to the players because the twats in the media will scream racism!  Really getting sick of that!

I read an article Sunday night on The Washington Post, that said "In America, Black Children Don't Get to be Children"...
That's a bold statement...A bold, blanket statement...I don't statements like that...I could respond with a blanket statement about how so many black kids don't even know their father, and that could be causing their childhood to suck ass...But that's a bullshit way to go, playing on the stereotypes...There are single parent homes in every damn race...

The article continued, "America does not extend the fundamental elements of childhood to black boys and girls. Black childhood is considered innately inferior, dangerous and indistinguishable from black adulthood. Black children are not afforded the same presumption of innocence as white children, especially in life-or-death situations."

I think that's bullshit as well...I responded to the article with this..."You're right, before you even say it, you're right, I don't know what it's like to be black...But screw you, you don't know what it's like to be white...You just assume you do...You assume its a damn cake walk...Everyone has crap in their lives...Everyone deals with different crap...I'm tired of all the pissing and moaning...I presume all kids are innocent until they prove me wrong...By pulling a gun...By blowing the football team behind the bleachers...Whatever it may be...No matter what color they are...But a black kid who had recently robbed a store, then got physical with a cop, then he got dead...So the world is out to get all black kids...No, it's not...And please will people read the transcripts from the Grand jury...The idiot didn't have his hands up!"

I know these are hot-button issues, and people aren't going to agree with everything I have to say, but all my life, I've heard people always saying we have to be able to talk openly and honestly about problems, including race...But when you do, mother fuckers run and hide...Fuck that...I'm not...I'm right here...Lets talk....Let's make this shithole world a better fucking shithole!

I don't watch this show, because I'm a grown up and would rather play a video game or watch Family Guy...But my wife is obsessed and then got our oldest hooked...And Sunday night my daughter was a wreck because they    (SPOILER ALERT)       killed off some bitch named Beth...Fuck off, Walking Dead...I don't need that added bullshit in my life...And holy shit, by the way my oldest turn 13 this week...Where the fuck did the time go!?!
