DeSean Jackson Talking Shit, Like an Idiot
Washington Redskins WR DeSean Jackson has already started talking shit, calling out Darrrelle Revis, Richard Sherman, and any other cornerback...
“I don’t think no one can guard me. It’s how I feel about myself. I don’t feel no one can stop me. You can get Darrelle Revis, Richard Sherman, whoever you want to get.”
WOW! I'm not wowing the bold statement...I'm saying wow, about that eloquent fucking grammar..."I don't think no one can guard me."
...Yeah, give it to me...
"I don't feel no one can stop me."
...There it is...Hit that double negative twice in three sentences....That is some mother fucking poetry right there!
Yes, Jackson is a play-maker...He is a talented receiver...Also, he's clearly an idiot! Jackson feels no one can stop him...Well, he better have a long talk with his teammates...the 'Skins offense itself could stop Jackson...They haven't had the best track-record...Last year they targeted Jackson 94 times for just 56 receptions, and 6 TD's...A bit of a drop-off from the year before in Philly where he was targeted 126 for 82 receptions, and 9 TD's...Plus he's only had two seasons where he has played all 16 games...Maybe look in the mirror DeSean...
Love the tough talk from a guy who's numbers have declined...
Something tells me Revis can't wait for his week six matchup against this half-illiterate gas-bag!

Rangers Re-sign Stepan
Just hours before they were set to have their arbitration hearing, the New York Rangers and restricted free-agent center, Derek Stepan agreed on terms of a 6 year deal...$39 million for six years...$6.5 million...Not a bad agreement since Stepan (25) was heading into the arbitration looking for $7.25 million yearly, and the Rangers were offering $5.2 million...
Besides being a key member to the Rangers lineup, it was the ridiculous contract that Buffalo gave Ryan O'Reilly, that was forcing this to arbitration if the Rangers didn't pay up...Stepan is a solid two-way center, who has better numbers the O'Reilly...
More info backing up this signing...Stepan is the first New York Rangers' to put up 50 or more points in 3 consecutive seasons, since Wayne Gretzky...
This past season Stepan finished 5th or higher in all of the following team stats...Assists, Points, Game-Winning Goals, Plus/Minus rating, Shots on Goal, Power Play Goals, Power Play Assists, Power Play Points, Short-handed Goals, Short-handed Assists, and Short-handed Points...
The only other player to do that was Chicago's Jonathan Toews...
Stepan is a key piece for this team to continue doing what they've been doing...But they have hardly any room under the cap now...I would like to see them move defenseman Dan Boyle, but I'm not sure anyone wants that old man and his contract...An easier contract to move would be defenseman, Kevin Klein who just had his best season of his career, and is cap hit just under $3 million...
Rangers fans are happy we got Stepan locked up, along with other key restricted free agents, JT Miller, Jesper Fast, and Emerson Etem...But a bit of cap wiggle room will help too.

The Primes They are a Changin'
We'll use Sidney Crosby as our example...I don't like Sid the skid, but he is the guy who many have called the best player in the NHL for almost 10 years...Crosby is now 27 years old, and his numbers have declined...And over the past couple years when you look at fantasy hockey forecasts, he is not the #1 guy on draft boards...Last depending on where you looked, he had slipped out of the top 3...But that's just fantasy right...
Like I said his numbers have fallen...And he has had some injury issues...He's wearing down...In 10 years Crosby has played 627 regular season NHL games...13 Olympic games...9 World Championship games...100 NHL Playoff games...That's 749 hockey games in ten years...Along with multiple concussions...Based off his offensive numbers Crosby's prime was between the '06-'07 season and the '09-'10 season...In that time Crosby played 290 regular season games with 404 points, with 62 playoff games and 101 playoff points...Since 2010 the numbers have fallen...
By comparison, Tyler Seguin is 23 and said to be hitting his "Prime" now...He was last year and is this year's #1 projected fantasy pick...Seguin has 5 NHL seasons under his belt...In those 5 seasons he's played 354 regular season games with 282 points, and 48 playoff games with 21 points...
So why is it said that Seguin is hitting his "prime" at 23, with half the experience of Crosby, who (in my youth) at 27 would have been said to be hitting his "prime," but now is said to be "starting to look at the back-end of his career?"....
It's simple...the elite players now, are coming into the NHL at 18 or 19 years old...they're playing a longer NHL season...They're playing an extended playoff season...They're playing World Championships, and Olympics...And they're playing in a era where the game has gotten faster...the players are bigger, faster, and stronger...Their bodies are having a helluva toll being put on them...You have to hit your "Prime" by 24, because by 27 you have headaches and you're icing your knees twice a day...And some of this may also be why the idea of seeing NHL superstars regularly put up 100 point seasons seems like a memory as well...
I wonder what the "Prime" for bloggers is?
