The Death of American Patriotism

The Autumn leaves. The incredible sky. Old Glory. In this image I see the American flag but I quickly shift my attention to everything else going on. You see after the Trump administration and what has gone on in our country post election, I'm leery when I see the American flag. I often cringe when I see it. I know people are already upset and offended i wrote that, but let me explain why.

Patriotism was weaponized. It started when Colin Kaepernick, on the advice of a member of the military took a knee during the National Anthem in protest of police brutality and discrimination. People dug in firmly to their sides and the point Kaepernick and others were trying to make was quickly lost. Between this and the Black Lives Matter movement more and more we started seeing the Thin Blue Line flag or the "Blue Lives Matter" flag. The people wearing and waving that flag not only claimed to support the police but also claimed to be patriots/patriotic. Funny since their flag breaks "flag Code."

Also, some people carrying this flag on January 6th, attacked the U.S. Capitol and beat police officers, killed police officers, wounded 140 police officers. Nothing there seems to show support for police, or "patriotism."

These people who felt Kaepernick's use of his freedom to protest, felt they were well with in their rights to "protest" election results, in which their guy got smoked, by staging a terrorist attack on the Capitol. How very white of them.

Also in this band of terrorists who have weaponized patriotism, were people who wear and fly the Confederate Flag. The Confederate Flag being the flag of traitors. While these dolts scream about respecting the  Red, White and Blue, Stars and Stripes, they are waving the flag that was flown in opposition of the Old Glory. 

These self proclaimed American patriots who say they have great love and admiration for our military, on a daily basis call Democrats and liberals Nazi's. Everything the left tries to do for the good of the country and humanity, these jackasses equate it to living in Nazi-Germany...Nazi's being an enemy we fought in WWII. Yet many of these "patriots" have swastika tattoos, carried Nazi flags on January 6th, wear anti-Semitic clothing.  

So why the fuck are you calling me the Nazi? Why the fuck are you calling yourself a "patriot?"

All these people are the most vocal about their patriotism and make a point to let everyone know how much they love America and the Flag. All of these people fly these anti-American flags right next to their American flag, and sadly, many with their flag with a man's name on it...Trump...That is the least American, least Patriotic shit you can do.

So yes, now when I'm walking my dogs by a house where I don't know the people who live there and I see the American flag, I sometimes cringe. I most likely don't and won't trust whoever lives in that house. I am skeptical whenever I see the Flag. It's sad. I never expected to be this way.

Trumpism weaponized American Patriotism. They made Patriotism about hate instead of community and unity. With every new day I'm more skeptical of my fellow Americans and nervous about will happen next because the lack of true patriotism and the massive volume of hate that exists now.

Monday Moaning: "Is This America?"

 

A group of Capitol officers sat, defeated, crying, talking about what had just happened, one saying, "What the fuck was that? What the fuck? Is this America?"

That was January 6, 2021 after domestic terrorists attacked the United States Capitol. A black officer mentioned about the insane number of times he had been called a "nigger" that day. Police were beaten. One will lose an eye, one lost 3 fingers, one had a heart attack as the crowd dragged him down the stairs, beating him, trying to take his gun, and tasered him multiple times. 140 officers were injured. 1 was killed. 2 killed themselves after that day. All of this done by the hands of the people who screamed "Blue Lives Matter!" every time someone says "Black Lives Matter."  Every time a cop unjustly kills a black person, these people say "Back the Blue! Blue Lives Matter!" 

But then January 6, 2021 they attacked the Blue. Everything so many of us thought, was put on full display to prove our thoughts were right. To these Trump-loving, white supremacists, it was never about supporting Blue Lives, it was always about hating Black Lives. Blue Lives only Matter when they're killing Black Lives! 

There is video of a police officer being beaten with a flag pole, that has the idiot, "Thin Blue Line" Flag on it. Yes, I have great issues with that flag, and not only because it's been co-opted by White Supremacists.

What baffles me about these Trump-Cultists is they are the ones who claim to be the most Patriotic of all Americans. All Johnny Red-White-Blue...But their actions are the furthest thing from it. They wrap themselves in clothing with man's name all over it. They fly flags of a man's name instead of their country. Yeah, some fly both...Christ, some also fly the ignorant Confederate flag and the Nazi flag too. But I will never forget the moment on January 6, 2021 when attackers climbed scaffolding and cut down a United States Flag and hung a TRUMP flag in it's place. They have accepted to throw out Democracy and wish to have an Authoritarian ruler. 

These people aren't "Patriots" as they claim to be, or as Ivanka and Donald Trump praised them to be. They are Traitors. 

They committed treason. Treason is defined as: "the crime of betraying one's country, especially by attempting to kill the sovereign or overthrow the government."

January 6, 2021 These people's intent was to overturn our election results, as well as killing Vice President, Mike Pence and Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, the next two people that were in the line of succession of power. That shit is treason and the punishment for treason is: "Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death."

You know, last week I wrote about the "Super Bowl" and commented on how odd it was that it had been so long since I wrote about sports, considering I, not too long ago, co-owned, operated and for a sports blogging site. A friend of mine, who I met through blogging at "The Sporting News" commented how he liked it when I write about sports. 

I appreciate that. 

I know I have turned a lot of people off by mostly blogging and posting on social media about politics. There are moments when I get frustrated by it...Where I wish I could just write about the latest horrible trade the Cleveland (still) Indians made, or why the fuck the New York Rangers can's score AT ALL on the Power Play. The thing is, as much as I love the Rangers, it's just not that damn important. Not when you consider we have a large portion of our country that is willing to accept Authoritarian rule. When you have sitting members of Congress who are willing to accept that. Members of Congress who have sided with a would be dictator over their country and the citizens/taxpayers they represent. 

We have people who still say COVID isn't real, ignoring that 485,000 Americans have died from it. 

These aren't minor little things going on in our country right now. These are huge, terrifying problems. I have three kids and I want them to grow up in the America I grew up in, that was full of hope instead of fear. That stood up for what is right. That aspired to greatness instead of playing down to the lowest common denominator.

To answer the officer's question, yes, this is America...But it doesn't have to stay this way.

One last thing. Going back to both sports and treason. I have a great idea for next year's "Super Bowl" Halftime show. Every single one of the these traitors, receives their punishment for treason on live TV. Halftime Executions!  SUNDAY, SUNDAY, SUNDAY! 

Monday Moaning : Meme Nation

 

I've spent the last week in yet another Twitter suspension...What did I do? I called James Woods and Travis Tritt rednecks...Didn't even call them fucking rednecks...These two clowns promote hate on there but I'm not allowed to return fire...Besides that, fucking Trump is still on there every day, spewing misinformation, hate and outright lies...These fuckers running Twitter drive me nuts...

During this past week I started collecting memes and some of those great quick hitter quotes overtop of a image...For a long time politics has been all about the soundbite...Then Twitter came along with 'you've got 140 characters to say what you want to say'...Thankfully that was increased but still, it has promoted dumbing the public down...A tweet is a soundbite...and memes are the same too...It's easier to read a tweet over a full article...Easier to checkout a couple  memes instead watching a documentary or reading a whole book...We should have woken up when morning "news" shows started segments each day with "What's Trending" and started reading Tweets on air...

 And while I hate Trump, he's a master of the Twitter soundbite...So many of us get enraged by his bullshit....So 1. He's getting his rocks off by pissing us off...

Trump knows he's full of shit in that tweet, but he loves that he got attention...He loves that people got pissed...And he just distracted some from the other criminal shit he's doing by talking about his horseshit "jobs numbers"...But 2. He's not tweeting at us or for us...He plays down to the lowest common denominator...his base is 37-40% completely ignorant fucking people (most are also racist) who believe anything he says...They aren't his friends or members of his Golf Clubs...They're the idiot Joe Average Six Pack...And he doesn't give a fuck about them either, he just knows they'll be loud and vocal for his bullshit....

You know exactly who Howard and I are talking about...These are the same people who aren't made that he lied to the public about COVID and are still showing up to his mask-less rallies...Some of them are in lock-step with his lying, whore, Press Secretary and say he didn't lie, even though we have it on tape...

Yes, the 19th anniversary of 9-11...We had to have everyone tell us "Never Forget" and show how patriotic they are...But they all don't seem to give a fuck about the nearly 200,000 Americans that have died from COVID...Many because of Trump's lies....They also conveniently forget everything else 9-11 gave us...

Also, NEVER FORGET that your beloved President Donald Trump's administration secretly stole at least $4 million from the 9/11 First Responders fund...I don't have a meme for that...Just plenty of articles...Here's ONE...

Oh, we can't forget about Mr. Pro-Life, Mike Pence when we talk about the COVID lies!

But as we pointed out before, the idiot Trump Cult will follow their masters into death...

We can't forget about the terrible devastation going on with the wildfires out west...Just awful...Luckily we have those Militia boys who love to protect strangers property...

Yes, there are just a large number of football fans that are racist...Their mindset is simply 'You're here to entertain me, I don't care if the justice system treats you differently or if a cop kills you...As long as it's in the offseason.'

More Lies Trump is spewing...

This has been a Republican talking point as long as I've been alive...Well, 44 years later and I have never seen any Democratic President kick in anyone's doors and take their guns...It's a fucking myth...There are a lot of fucking dummies that need to go back to a high school government class...

And we all should be concerned and pissed about this....

Hey, even though the Republican President Donald Trump has repeatedly belittled the sacrifices of our military members, let's not forget that the Republican party loves the troops....

And can you dummies stop screaming about Socialism....

If it wasn't for "Socialism" you wouldn't have roads, bridges, schools, fire departments, Police Departments...Those nifty checks you get each month after you retire and so much more...Grow the fuck up!

Since I mentioned Police departments in that quick rant...Let me hit you with a some more facts...The Thin Blue Line flag breaks Flag Code...It's un-American...It's disrespectful...If another group altered the American Flag for the same people who fly this one and wear this one would lose their fucking minds...
