The Death of American Patriotism

 

That's a  beautiful picture isn't it?

The Autumn leaves. The incredible sky. Old Glory. In this image I see the American flag but I quickly shift my attention to everything else going on. You see after the Trump administration and what has gone on in our country post election, I'm leery when I see the American flag. I often cringe when I see it. I know people are already upset and offended i wrote that, but let me explain why.

Patriotism was weaponized. It started when Colin Kaepernick, on the advice of a member of the military took a knee during the National Anthem in protest of police brutality and discrimination. People dug in firmly to their sides and the point Kaepernick and others were trying to make was quickly lost. Between this and the Black Lives Matter movement more and more we started seeing the Thin Blue Line flag or the "Blue Lives Matter" flag. The people wearing and waving that flag not only claimed to support the police but also claimed to be patriots/patriotic. Funny since their flag breaks "flag Code."

Also, some people carrying this flag on January 6th, attacked the U.S. Capitol and beat police officers, killed police officers, wounded 140 police officers. Nothing there seems to show support for police, or "patriotism."

These people who felt Kaepernick's use of his freedom to protest, felt they were well with in their rights to "protest" election results, in which their guy got smoked, by staging a terrorist attack on the Capitol. How very white of them.

Also in this band of terrorists who have weaponized patriotism, were people who wear and fly the Confederate Flag. The Confederate Flag being the flag of traitors. While these dolts scream about respecting the  Red, White and Blue, Stars and Stripes, they are waving the flag that was flown in opposition of the Old Glory. 

These self proclaimed American patriots who say they have great love and admiration for our military, on a daily basis call Democrats and liberals Nazi's. Everything the left tries to do for the good of the country and humanity, these jackasses equate it to living in Nazi-Germany...Nazi's being an enemy we fought in WWII. Yet many of these "patriots" have swastika tattoos, carried Nazi flags on January 6th, wear anti-Semitic clothing.  

So why the fuck are you calling me the Nazi? Why the fuck are you calling yourself a "patriot?"

All these people are the most vocal about their patriotism and make a point to let everyone know how much they love America and the Flag. All of these people fly these anti-American flags right next to their American flag, and sadly, many with their flag with a man's name on it...Trump...That is the least American, least Patriotic shit you can do.

So yes, now when I'm walking my dogs by a house where I don't know the people who live there and I see the American flag, I sometimes cringe. I most likely don't and won't trust whoever lives in that house. I am skeptical whenever I see the Flag. It's sad. I never expected to be this way.

Trumpism weaponized American Patriotism. They made Patriotism about hate instead of community and unity. With every new day I'm more skeptical of my fellow Americans and nervous about will happen next because the lack of true patriotism and the massive volume of hate that exists now.

Rush Limbaugh Is Dead, Good.

 

Rush Limbaugh died this week and I had no intention of posting about it. My good friend BOB posted a rant about people trolling and celebrating his death online, a pointed out one of our flaws as humans, especially in this digital age where it's so easy to shit on people. I agreed with his post. I hated Limbaugh, I still hate him. People will always tell you hate is wrong, but how can you know love, if you don't know hate and vice-versa. But I thought, why pile on. I know the pain his loved ones are feeling, they don't deserve that.

Or do they? As I saw Republican politicians and "conservative"/"right wing" media praising this man and celebrating his "accomplishments" and showing my sympathy and respect to him than they have for the 500,000 Americans who have died from COVID, or for the Capitol Police Officers who lost their lives from the attack on January 6th, I started thinking about what he actually did. What he said. Who he really was. He was an awful fucking person.

Why shouldn't people celebrate Rush's death. In the 90's, this fucking scumbag had segment on his show, where he read off names of gay people who died from AIDS, while playing bells, whistles and horns, celebrating their deaths. Hate and division were his art and he made millions off of it. 

"You're a foreigner. You shut your mouth or you get out."

"Blacks are 12% of the population, who the hell cares!?!"

"Let stupid and unskilled Mexicans do that work."

"Have you ever noticed how all composite pictures of wanted criminals look like Jesse Jackson?"

"Holocaust 90 million Indians? Only 4 million left? They all have casinos, what's to complain about?"

"We need segregated buses."

"The NAACP should get liquor stores and practice robberies."

"Women still live longer than men because their lives are easier."

"Take that bone out of your nose and call back" (said to a black female caller)

"If ant race of people should not have guilt about slavery, it's Caucasians."

"Feminism was established so as to allow unattractive women easier access to the mainstream of society."

Those are just a very small number of examples of Rush Limbaugh's sexism, racism and hate.   

Limbaugh lead the charge when it came to bashing "The Elites." Wait, what? Yeah, Millionaire, cigar smoking, on the best golf courses, pill popping junkie, five days a week rallied his ignorant listeners to hate "the elites," ignoring that he was one of them.

Republicans and Christian Conservatives gave Limbaugh great praise when he came out swinging and telling people Trump "wasn't a Republican." That was quickly followed by Rush, Christian Conservatives and the vast majority of the Republican Party laying down for Trump like a $10 Russian whore. Limbaugh carried Trump's "Birtherism" lie. He was a vocal COVID denier. And yes, he was one of the many loud voices pushing Trump's "Big Lie" about the election as well and a full throated supporter of the terrorists who attacked the Capitol on January 6, 2021.

Maybe somewhere in his personal life, Rush Limbaugh was decent, but we never saw it and I find it hard to believe it was there to be seen. I don't want him to rest in peace. He can burn in hell. This bastard brought nothing good to the world and I don't think we should all place nicey-nice now that he's dead. He was a horrible person, fuck him!

Maybe I shouldn't have written this and stayed on the high ground. Does he win by his hate drawing out my anger? No! I've spent the last year using this blog and socially media (mostly) to call out lies, bullshit and hate and speaking truth. Sometimes that means getting in the mud, and I'm fine getting dirty.

Republican Congressman Doug Collins tweeted this on the passing of Ruth Bader Ginsburg...

These assholes are SO "Pro-Life" that they celebrate someone's death!

But why would we be surprised by the Republican Hypocrisy? For fuck's sake Trump insists his Supreme Court Nominee must be "Pro-Life"...Wanting everyone to ignore the fact that over 200,000 Americans have died from COVID, largely because of his lying, misinformation and inaction...

Thing is, I'm not surprised that #MoscowMitch McConnell and Ted Cruz are going against what they said in 2016...Suddenly the rules change for the GOP...And while I know Lindsey Graham is a bitch boy, and I'm not just talking about the long list of tales from male prostitutes who have talked a about all the gay sex he's paid for...But I did expect him to stick to his word, since he fervently went on the record saying in an election year, he would not allow a Trump SCOTUS nominee to be pushed through in an election year...

Song of the Day....

Almost every day on Facebook I post a song of the day...Normally there is no deep meaning behind it...Some days it just may be a song that is in my head...Some days it is picked based off of a chat at work...Like when a co-worker thought "The Joker" by the Steve Miller Band was done by The Offspring....Kids these days...Some days I just go through the 1500 songs on my iPhone and pick a random tune...On rare days like today, it has a little more behind it...

I was looking at Facebook and Twitter and was just getting sick...The constant posts about politics and disagreements about our political views...And yes, I'm guilty of it...then there are the news stories of murder and mistreatment and all around shittieness...This just leads to many of us judging entire groups by the acts of the bad apples...

The overriding theme on the Internet and it seems to be so in real life, has become Anger and Hate...And I understand the anger...I'm an angry asshole a lot of the time...

I haven't been posting as much lately...Mainly because I feel like shit...I blame it on my oral surgery...Scroll down to read all about that crap...

So the first thing that is pissing me off, is Derek Anderson...Former Browns Quarterback...First the people who think the Browns should have kept him...You're stupid! He threw 3 Touchdowns and 10 Interceptions last year...He was due a $2 million dollar bonus next week if they kept him...Plus his stupid $7 million salary for the season...NOT WORTH IT!!!

Then this hack takes shots at the City of Cleveland after the team dumps his ass...Saying that Browns fans are "Ruthless" and "Don't deserve a winner." Hey Derek you don't deserve $9 million for throwing passes to the other team, you C*nt! He also hopes to come back here with his new team and "Roll" the Browns...You'll be lucky to be somebody's backup C*nt! And if you think Cleveland is "ruthless" boy are you in for a surprise...For a city that has done nothing but support losing teams, you got off easy...You sound like that crying b!tch Tim Couch, you C*nt!

Next up...There has been a lot of complaints about "The Hurt Locker" winning the Oscar for "Best Picture." Many of the shots have been taken at the director and the writer...Much of this has come from Veterans...Listen...Veterans, I love you...I respect you, and I thank you...I mean no disrespect by this...It was a movie...Movies are about entertainment and making money...It wasn't up for "Best Documentary." I liked the movie a lot...I never served in Iraq, but I could pick out at least 10 things in the movie that I knew were bullshit...I know bomb techs didn't have that gear...But Hollywood isn't a fan of reality...Even if a movie is based on real events, Hollywood has to pretty it up...

I would love to see Veterans write their stories, and push some Hollywood big wigs to get the real story out there...Push Hollywood to get behind documentaries...Every year those douche bags sit there and roar about the "Best Documentary" category...But it's just for show...If it wasn't, movies like "Food Inc" and "The Cove" would have been released in every theater in this country...

I'm honestly not trying to shit on Veterans...Hollywood is flawed...We she be focusing more on the documentaries...Less on the Movies...(movies=entertainment) But Hollywood doesn't think we can handle reality enough to pay to see it...Maybe they're right...But I wouldn't mind giving it a try...

Next...Nomar Garciaparra signed with the Red Sox, then retired...I've seen way too many stories about this today...I liked Nomar...Back before he was a little bitch sitting on the bench in Yankee stadium...Hell I didn't even realize he hadn't retired already...


Lastly, Ben Roethlisberger has another accuser...This time he admits to throwing it into the chick, but that it was consensual...I'm guessing they had plenty of proof that he was inside her since she stopped by the hospital right afterwards...But hey, innocent until proven guilty in this country...I don't know know if he's lying, or he is...Maybe a little of both...All I know is, "Big Ben" has a growing track record of putting himself into stupid situations...

I hate to get political...But I've had enough with some of the bullsh!t that has been going on...First, I'm registered as a Democrat...Do I believe in everything that party says, or stands for? No...That said, I want the douche bag politicians and douche bag media on the right, to stop calling me a liberal, socialist, blah, blah, blah!

The worst thing about most politicians...Then don't care what we think...They don't listen to the people whom they represent...The system is screwed, and so are we...

Since I'm going on about political bullsh!t...A number of schools in the Cleveland area didn't show President Obama's address to school students today...Why? No, seriously, I'm f**king asking why! There was no uproar when President Reagan did it...There was some stink after the first President Bush did it...Why is it we tell our kids to be active...be aware of what's going on in the world...We make sure that they register to vote when they are 18 and still in high school...But then the President wants to go on the air and tell them how school is important...To work hard...Do what you have to, to achieve your goals...Take responsibility for yourself...Why and how could that be bad?

I read the speech Monday night...It was released ahead of time, because there were idiots in the media saying that he was going to feed our children socialist messages...Well he didn't...But it would be better then the lies and bullsh!t you're trying to feed us...

And when did we stop calling our Presidents...President 'So and So'? I'm I the only person bothered by the fact that for years now, not just average Joe, but the media, don't respect the office of the President...It's not just President Obama...Who is always referred to as "Obama." It was done to Presidents Bush and Clinton and Bush, and even some with President Reagan...This bothers me, and disappoints me...

Maybe it's just the way I was raised...You showed respect to authority...Even if you disagreed...You respected the flag...You didn't call the people who oppose you, and that you oppose, "assholes"...At least not in public, on camera...There is a growing lack of respect in this country, not just for those we disagree with...But also a lack of respect for ourselves...

I understand hate...It's part of life...But it seems like there is more these days...Hell I'm feeling some in me now...Go Figure! And some of this crap is fueled by the media...They love the controversy...Don't let them fool you...MSNBC and FOX love it when Olberman goes after Beck or O'Reilly...and vice versa...Hate sells...It's number 2, right behind sex!

Maybe I'm wrong...But I never think so...And if I did I wouldn't tell you...Maybe I'm just tired and stressed, and need to go to bed...But I can never sleep when the voices are screaming like they've been today...So I had to let them out...

I've been told countless times in my life, that I worry too much...Not just about big things, but small things too...I never thought is was that bad of a trait...With that, I'm going to bed...
