What Athletes Inspired You?

This is something I posted quite a while back at Sporting News....

I use to post a sports related question on Fridays...I'd give a little backround about the topic...Give my answer...And wait for the responses...This was originally posted in August...I've chopped out the weekend references...

The first person to get me interested in sports was my Father. I'm sure that's true for many of you. This question is about the athletes that inspired us. The guys or gals, that made you say to yourself "I want to do that", or "that's how I'm gonna play." So simply, what athlete(s) influenced you growing up?

Here's mine......

I think Hockey is an easy one to figure out....JOHN VANBIESBROUCK The first NHL game I watched the Beezer won, and I was hooked....The fact that he wasn't a big guy helped too....I am also vertically challenged....

With Football the whole mystique of Notre Dame got me at a young age, but not one player....

With the pros, there was one guy who stood out to me when I was a kid....

Tony Dorsett I just loved the way he ran. Again not a huge guy. I wore #33 all through grade school football. (I didn't run as well)

Baseball, it was Ryne Sandberg....I loved watching Sandberg field....I would make my Dad hit me grounders all the time...When he couldn't, I was fielding them just like Ryno off the garage door....

I showed you mine...Now show me yours....

Later, The Beeze.
